Yes. Chess.com’s Help Center says it supports electronic chess boards, while directing users to the board manufacturer to confirm compatibility and get setup and support guidance. That makes the manufacturer’s instructions for your particular board and device important—not just a general claim that a board works online. Chess.com’s electronic-board guidance is dated December 19, 2025.

Choose the Air if you value a smaller board and want the system to recognize piece identities, not merely detect that a square is occupied. The manufacturer’s compatibility claim does not specify one setup sequence that applies to every phone or computer, so verify the current instructions before purchase.

Chessnut Pro: full-size wooden construction
Chessnut describes the Pro as a full-size wooden electronic board with full piece recognition and Chess.com and Lichess support. It also describes multi-platform apps and third-party app support, but the available product information does not establish a single Chess.com connection method for every operating system. Check the Chessnut Pro product page for current compatibility and setup details.
The Pro is the more natural fit if a full-size board and wooden construction matter more than portability. As with the Air, confirm the supported connection route for your specific device rather than assuming the same app or integration works everywhere.

DGT Pegasus: a documented Android connection
DGT gives a step-by-step route for connecting Pegasus through the Chess.com Android app. Its instructions require an Android device and a Chess.com account, and state: “iOS is not yet supported.” Because app support can change, check DGT’s current Pegasus-to-Chess.com instructions before relying on this platform limitation.
- On an Android device, open the Chess.com app and sign in to your account.
- Go to More → Settings → Connected Boards and select DGT Pegasus.
- Start a new game and choose Use Connected Board.

Do you need the DGT Chess app to play Chess.com?
No—not for the Chess.com connection flow DGT documents. What to check before choosing
- Device and operating system: Confirm that the manufacturer documents your exact connection route, especially if you play on iOS.
- Which app handles the game: A board may connect through a manufacturer app, a platform app, or an integration. Do not assume those methods are interchangeable.
- Piece recognition: Chessnut lists full piece recognition for Air and Pro. DGT describes Pegasus as a sensor board; check its instructions for how moves are registered rather than assuming every sensor board identifies pieces in the same way.
- Size and portability: The Air’s listed dimensions are compact; the Pro is described as full-size. Choose based on where and how you play.
- Included accessories: DGT lists pieces, a charging cable, phone stand, and quick guide. Check the current manufacturer listing for box contents of any board you are considering.
Why this list is limited to three boards
Other electronic boards appear in community discussions, including ChessUp, Millenium e-One, and SquareOff Pro, but forum comments are not current manufacturer confirmation of a specific Chess.com route for your device. A Chess.com community thread dated 2023–2024 also reflects the reader question, “Can you play on chess.com with an e-board?”; treat it as discussion, not compatibility proof. Read the community discussion, then verify any candidate’s current manufacturer documentation before relying on it.
