The best AI search optimization agency depends on your market, sales model and definition of success. For a Toronto or Canadian local business, LumiRank, Fade Digital or Enginely offer the clearest regional focus. Enleaf is the broad, U.S.-based option with the largest published operating history in this group; Stratabeat is positioned for B2B SaaS and technology teams; Gauge emphasizes software-assisted answer-share tracking; and Kern Media stands out for its original citation research. Treat every percentage as a first-party claim until the agency shows the baseline, data source and measurement window. The right selection process compares AI answer and citation visibility with qualified leads, revenue, calls or pipeline—not with rankings alone.
What does an AI search optimization agency actually do?
AI search optimization—also called generative engine optimization (GEO), AI SEO or LLM optimization—is work intended to help systems such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI features understand, retrieve and represent an organization accurately. It is not a separate replacement for search-engine optimization. The strongest programs combine established SEO and digital-authority practices with monitoring of how generative systems answer commercial questions.
Typical work can include:
- Technical discovery: crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal links, structured data and page performance.
- Content architecture: pages that answer the questions buyers ask, clear entity definitions, consistent terminology and useful supporting evidence.
- Entity and authority signals: consistent organization details, expert authorship, reputable third-party references, digital public relations and citations.
- Visibility monitoring: recurring prompts across several AI systems, competitor appearance, cited URLs, answer sentiment and changes over time.
- Measurement and iteration: connecting visibility changes to organic traffic, enquiries, booked jobs, revenue or pipeline.
There is no industry-standard GEO package. One firm may sell a one-time audit, another a monthly content and technical program, and another a dashboard that tracks prompts while your internal team executes the fixes. Ask for a precise scope before treating two proposals as comparable.
Which North American agencies are strongest for different buyer needs?
The following shortlist is organized by fit rather than an unverified overall ranking. Their public evidence is mostly first-party, so use it to create a diligence list, not as independently audited performance data.
#1 Best Overall
| Agency | Location or market position | Published evidence and stated fit |
|---|---|---|
| LumiRank | Toronto; founder-led Canadian GEO agency | Four published case studies; reports 56.1% more Google clicks quarter over quarter for Osoba Renos and 331% more Google clicks in seven weeks for Valve Appliance Repair; advertises month-to-month engagement. |
| Fade Digital | Toronto | Publishes a July 2026 results page, an AI Visibility Audit and ongoing GEO work; says it separates verifiable results from results still in the measurement window. |
| Enginely | Canada; Canadian AI SEO positioning | Explains the SEO/GEO distinction and describes monitoring competitor visibility, cited pages and changes across five major large-language-model platforms. |
| Enleaf | Spokane, Washington; broad U.S. coverage | Reports 17-plus years in business, more than 200 brands and over 20 published case studies, with examples spanning revenue, rankings, traffic and phone calls. |
| Stratabeat | U.S.; B2B SaaS and technology focus | A 2026 comparison evaluates ten GEO agencies using case studies, Clutch reviews and thought leadership, and positions Stratabeat for GEO tied to leads and pipeline. |
| Gauge | Software-assisted GEO measurement | Publishes answer-share examples for LedgerUp, Eco and Standard Metrics; the figures require validation of prompts, sampling and attribution. |
| Kern Media | Founder-led consultancy with broad experience | Reports more than 20 years of SEO experience and a 2026 AI Search Citation Study covering 1,044 answers, 4,872 brand recommendations and 5,376 citations across eight industries. |
Is LumiRank a good choice for a Canadian local business?
LumiRank is the most locally specific option in this shortlist: it is founder-led and based in Toronto. That can matter when your visibility depends on Canadian terminology, provincial service areas, local competitors and region-specific buyer questions.
What its published numbers show
LumiRank lists four case studies. Its page reports 56.1% more clicks from Google quarter over quarter for Osoba Renos and 331% more clicks from Google in seven weeks for Valve Appliance Repair. Those are first-party Search Console claims, not an independent audit or a measure of AI answer citations.
Questions to ask before signing
- Were the click comparisons year over year, quarter over quarter, or affected by seasonality and campaign changes?
- Which pages and queries drove the gains, and did qualified enquiries rise with them?
- What portion of the engagement is technical work, content production, local optimization and prompt monitoring?
- How does the month-to-month arrangement handle content ownership, notice periods and unfinished work?
When does Fade Digital make sense?
Fade Digital is a practical candidate when you want a Toronto-based team and an explicit distinction between measured results and work that is still being observed. Its July 2026 results page and AI Visibility Audit indicate a reporting-led approach rather than a promise that every prompt will immediately change.
How to evaluate its measurement discipline
Ask to see the audit’s prompt set, geography, language, model versions, sampling frequency and definition of a “mention” or “citation.” A result marked as being in a measurement window should remain provisional until the agreed observation period ends. Request a before-and-after export so your team can reproduce the calculation.
What a suitable engagement might include
- A baseline of your brand’s appearance, competitors and cited pages for priority questions.
- Technical and content recommendations mapped to specific pages and owners.
- A recurring report that labels confirmed, directional and still-in-window results separately.
- A business-outcome view showing qualified leads or booked work alongside visibility.
How does Enginely differ from a conventional SEO agency?
Enginely frames the distinction clearly: traditional SEO improves how a site appears in conventional search results, while GEO improves how AI platforms understand, reference and represent an organization in generated answers. That framing is useful if your team already has an SEO program and needs an AI-specific layer rather than a second, disconnected content calendar.
Its stated monitoring scope
Enginely describes monitoring competitor visibility, cited pages and changes across five major LLM platforms. During a proposal review, ask which five platforms are included for your market, how often prompts run, whether responses are stored, and how model or interface changes are handled.
Best-fit scenarios
- A Canadian company serving several provinces that needs consistent entity information.
- A marketing team that wants competitor and citation monitoring added to existing SEO operations.
- An organization willing to supply subject-matter experts and approve technically accurate content.
Is Enleaf the right broad U.S. option?
Enleaf, based in Spokane, Washington, presents the longest operating history and broadest published scale in this group: 17-plus years in business, more than 200 brands and over 20 published case studies. It is a logical candidate for companies that need a full SEO foundation across multiple locations or industries, with GEO added to that program.

| Fume Dog | $503,000 per month in organic revenue scaled to | Revenue |
| Broadway Family Dental | 3,000% increase in phone calls | Calls |
These are company-reported case-study figures. They use different outcomes, time periods and attribution methods, so do not average them or compare a ranking lift directly with revenue. Request the original baseline, date range, analytics configuration, channel exclusions and evidence that the result was not driven by unrelated promotions or market changes.
Rank #2
When its scale is an advantage—and when it is not
A larger operating history can provide processes for technical audits, content production and multi-location governance. It can also mean more handoffs. Ask who will write, edit, implement and attend your reviews, and whether the senior strategist named in the sales process remains involved after onboarding.
Should a B2B SaaS company consider Stratabeat?
Stratabeat is positioned for B2B SaaS and technology companies that want GEO connected to leads and pipeline. Its 2026 comparison evaluates ten agencies using GEO case studies, Clutch reviews and thought leadership, and includes firms such as Go Fish Digital, iPullRank, First Page Sage, Omniscient Digital and RevenueZen.
What to request in a SaaS proposal
- A map from category and problem prompts to product, comparison and integration pages.
- Definitions for marketing-qualified lead, sales-qualified lead, influenced pipeline and sourced pipeline.
- Evidence that the agency can work with product marketing, subject-matter experts and a long enterprise buying cycle.
- A plan for measuring citations on documentation, integration pages and third-party review or community sites without violating platform rules.
For a SaaS company, an AI answer that names your category but produces no demo, trial or sales conversation is an awareness signal—not proof of commercial success. Make pipeline attribution a contract-level reporting requirement.

How credible are Gauge’s answer-share case studies?
Gauge publishes software-assisted examples that use answer share rather than conventional rankings. It reports LedgerUp visibility rising from 1% to 17% in under four weeks, Eco visibility increasing more than fivefold, and Standard Metrics answer share moving from 9.4% to 23.8%.
Why answer share can be useful
Answer share can show how often a brand appears when a defined set of prompts is run, making it closer to an AI-specific visibility metric than a blue-link ranking. It is still a sampled measurement: results vary by model, account, location, wording, personalization and date.
How to validate the numbers
- Obtain the complete prompt list, including the category, competitor and transactional questions.
- Confirm the number of runs per prompt and whether results were deduplicated.
- Check which models and interfaces were used, and whether browsing or personalization was enabled.
- Define whether an appearance, recommendation, linked citation or positive mention counts toward the percentage.
- Compare the visibility trend with branded search, referral traffic, qualified leads and revenue.
The published figures are vendor case-study claims. They are useful for understanding the type of measurement Gauge offers, but they should not be treated as a guarantee for a new account.
Why is Kern Media notable for research and measurement?
Kern Media reports more than 20 years of SEO experience and describes a 2026 AI Search Citation Study. The study analyzed 1,044 answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, identifying 4,872 brand recommendations and 5,376 citations across eight industries.

A large, cross-platform sample is more informative than a handful of screenshots because it exposes how often brands are recommended and which sources are cited across industries. Ask whether your category, geography and prompt intent are represented before applying the study’s findings to your business.
Rank #3
What it cannot prove by itself
Industry-level citation patterns do not establish that a specific optimization change caused your revenue increase. A consultancy should still create an account-level baseline, disclose its sampling method and connect AI visibility to outcomes your finance or sales team recognizes.
How should you compare GEO agencies before requesting proposals?
Use the same written scorecard for every agency. A polished dashboard is less important than a reproducible baseline, a clear implementation plan and an agreed business outcome.
1. Grade the evidence, not the headline
- Prefer named clients, dated case studies and the underlying analytics or Search Console system.
- Record whether the result is first-party, independently verified, directional or still in a measurement window.
- Ask for the exact baseline and denominator behind every percentage.
2. Separate visibility metrics from business metrics
| Metric family | What it answers | Common limitation |
|---|---|---|
| AI answer share | How often the brand appears in a defined prompt sample | Results depend on prompts, models, geography and sampling. |
| Citation share | How often a brand’s pages or other sources are cited | A citation may not be clicked or lead to a purchase. |
| Rankings and impressions | Whether conventional search visibility changed | Higher visibility does not ensure qualified demand. |
| Qualified leads, calls and booked jobs | Whether visibility produced meaningful enquiries | Requires consistent CRM and call-tracking definitions. |
| Revenue and pipeline | Whether the program affected commercial results | Attribution can be shared across channels and long buying cycles. |
3. Confirm the technical scope
Ask whether the proposal covers crawl and indexation issues, structured data, content architecture, entity consistency, digital PR, third-party citations and local visibility—or only prompt monitoring. Monitoring can reveal a problem without fixing the page, source or reputation signal that caused it.
4. Match specialization to your market
Toronto and Canadian specialists may be valuable for local businesses and Canadian service areas. Enleaf and Kern Media present broader U.S. or multi-industry coverage. Stratabeat is positioned toward B2B SaaS and technology. Choose based on where your buyers search and how your sales process works, not on office location alone.
5. Check the operating model
Clarify whether you are buying a one-time audit, a recurring execution program or software access. Put content ownership, implementation responsibilities, approval deadlines, reporting access, cancellation terms and data retention in writing. Month-to-month flexibility can reduce lock-in, but it does not remove the need for a 90-day implementation and measurement plan.
What should a GEO agency proposal and contract include?
A useful proposal turns an abstract promise of “AI visibility” into testable work. Require these elements before approving a retainer.
Baseline and target
- The priority products, services, locations and competitors.
- The exact prompt library, model list, language, geography and run frequency.
- Definitions for mention, recommendation, citation, answer share and qualified lead.
- A starting measurement date and a target review date.
Deliverables and owners
- Technical tickets with acceptance criteria and an implementation owner.
- Content briefs or completed pages with expert-review requirements.
- Entity, local and third-party authority actions, including who supplies approvals.
- A monitoring export that your team can retain if the engagement ends.
Reporting cadence
Agree on a monthly or quarterly review that shows changes, not just a score. The report should label model changes, unusual sampling events and results that remain inside the agreed measurement window. Include a section linking visibility to analytics, CRM, call tracking or pipeline wherever the data supports it.
How long does AI search optimization take?
There is no universal timetable. A technical correction can be deployed quickly, while content discovery, third-party references and model-level recognition may take longer and fluctuate between systems. Gauge’s LedgerUp example reports a change in under four weeks, but that is a vendor case study under its own prompt and measurement conditions, not a standard delivery promise.
Set staged checkpoints instead of demanding a guaranteed date for citations:
- Weeks 1–4: establish the prompt, citation and analytics baselines; fix critical crawl, indexation and entity errors.
- Weeks 5–12: publish or improve priority pages, implement structured data and begin authority or citation work; monitor model responses for directional movement.
- After the first quarter: review stable trends, qualified demand and implementation quality; expand, revise or stop work based on evidence.
Keep the prompt set and definitions stable long enough to distinguish a real trend from normal response variability, while recording model or interface changes that make a direct comparison unfair.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What are the most common GEO buying mistakes?
Buying a screenshot instead of a system
A single favorable ChatGPT or Perplexity answer is not a durable result. Require repeated runs, saved responses and a documented sampling method.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Confusing conventional SEO gains with AI gains
More organic clicks can be valuable, but they do not demonstrate that an AI system cited your brand. Report the channels separately and explain how each contributes to demand.
Accepting rankings as a revenue proxy
A ranking lift can precede business value, but it is not the value itself. Ask how the agency will connect visibility to qualified enquiries, calls, bookings, sales or pipeline.
Ignoring source quality
Generative systems often rely on information beyond your own website. Review the accuracy and consistency of directories, profiles, partner pages, reviews, press coverage and other third-party sources that describe your organization.
Letting an agency publish unreviewed claims
AI-oriented content still needs legal, technical and subject-matter review. Incorrect product specifications, unsupported health or financial claims, and inconsistent business details can damage trust even if they improve short-term visibility.

Signing without ownership terms
Specify who owns briefs, copy, dashboards, prompt logs, structured-data work and accounts. Make sure your team can export the history needed to continue measurement after cancellation.
Best Value
Which agency should you shortlist first?
Use this decision path to narrow the field:
- Need Canadian local-market context? Start conversations with LumiRank, Fade Digital and Enginely, then test their local prompt coverage and implementation capacity.
- Need broad U.S. SEO execution across many brands or locations? Evaluate Enleaf’s team structure, case-study methodology and who will actually operate your account.
- Sell B2B SaaS or technology with a pipeline-led sales process? Ask Stratabeat to show how GEO work maps to product, comparison and pipeline stages.
- Need a software-assisted answer-share program? Examine Gauge’s sampling, definitions and data export before relying on its published examples.
- Want research depth and citation analysis? Ask Kern Media how its 2026 study translates into a category-specific baseline and an execution plan.
Invite two or three agencies that pass this fit test to respond to the same brief. The winner should be the team that makes measurement reproducible, explains uncertainty plainly and accepts accountability for implementation—not the one with the largest percentage in a headline.
What should you send in an agency brief?
Providing the same information to every bidder produces a fairer comparison and shorter sales calls. Include:
- Your primary markets, languages, locations and regulated industries.
- Products or services, average contract value, sales cycle and target customer questions.
- Access available to analytics, Search Console, CRM, call tracking, content management and developer resources.
- Known technical constraints, brand or legal approval rules and publishing capacity.
- The business result that matters most: qualified leads, booked jobs, revenue, pipeline or retention.
- Competitors you already monitor and any terms or claims the agency must avoid.
Ask each bidder to return a 90-day plan, baseline design, sample report, deliverables by month, internal responsibilities, fees and cancellation terms. This reveals whether the proposal is an executable program or simply a visibility promise.

Can an AI search optimization agency guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my company?
No. Model responses change with prompts, training data, retrieval systems, user location and product updates that an agency cannot control. A credible contract can promise defined work and transparent measurement, not a permanent recommendation or a fixed citation count.
Do I need GEO if my conventional SEO already performs well?
Often, yes, because strong rankings do not automatically make an organization easy for an answer engine to identify or cite. An agency should first audit your existing technical, content and authority assets and then add only the AI-specific monitoring or entity work that is missing.
What access should I give an agency during an AI visibility audit?
At minimum, provide read access to Search Console and analytics plus a current sitemap, priority-page list and business-location data. CRM, call-tracking and revenue data can improve attribution, but you can share aggregated or permission-limited views when customer privacy or security policies require it.
How can I protect confidential information while testing AI visibility?
Keep proprietary product details, customer data and credentials out of public prompts and require the agency to document its data-handling process. Use approved test accounts, least-privilege access and a written retention policy for saved model responses and exports.
