B.L.U.E. NOVA is a planned free-to-play, online co-op PvE shooter for Steam, scheduled for 2027. Its main Tower Raid loop sends players into a live battlefield to join other players, fight mechanical enemies, clear objectives, and push toward a central Master Tower. The “halo” in the question is the game’s Ring, or R.I.N.G.: nearby allies can link up to gain cooperative combat benefits, including infinite ammunition. It is a teamwork mechanic within a larger raid, not a single Ring shared by every player on the battlefield.

What is B.L.U.E. NOVA’s PvE gameplay loop?

The central activity is Tower Raid, a large-group run through a battlefield occupied by the rogue AI’s mechanical forces. Players can enter without a preassembled squad, meet allies during the run, tackle field objectives, and converge on the Master Tower. GungHo Online Entertainment describes Tower Raid as supporting up to 30 players on the battlefield; that is the announced capacity, not a typical party-size claim. GungHo’s official game site and the Steam listing describe the mode and its objectives.

  1. Choose a Hero and enter the action. The game is built around selectable Heroes, equippable Armor, and skill trees. Steam’s drop-in matchmaking can place players into sessions already underway, so joining a run does not depend on assembling a full group first.
  2. Find allies and fight through the map. Players confront waves of mechanical enemies and colossal foes while working through field objectives. Barrier Towers stand between the group and its central target, the Master Tower.
  3. Form a Ring and coordinate fire. When players encounter nearby allies, they can form a R.I.N.G. and receive cooperative combat benefits. The published descriptions associate this with a stronger, more continuous attack, including infinite ammunition.
  4. Push toward the Master Tower. The raid’s overall objective is to destroy the central tower. A preview account from AUTOMATON describes a final boss encounter before the tower’s destruction in the development build it played; that report should not be taken as a guaranteed description of every final-run detail.
  5. Develop a character build. GungHo confirms Armor and skill trees as progression systems. In AUTOMATON’s development-build report, players chose weapons or enhancements after tower bosses and earned materials for Armor upgrades and skill-tree unlocks. The precise reward flow is preview-build reporting, not a confirmed launch drop table.

The steps describe a broad rhythm, not a fixed script: matchmaking can bring players into a run already in progress, and the battlefield’s tasks give a group reasons to regroup and continue toward the shared objective. In early-build coverage, AUTOMATON reported marked routes and map sections that differed between runs. Treat that as an observation about the preview, rather than a promise that the final game will rearrange every map or objective.

How does the Ring or “halo” mechanic work?

The Ring is the game’s name for a cooperative link formed when players encounter one another. It is a combat system, not a separate mode. The official English site calls the Ring-enabled attack “Unlimited Attack,” while Steam uses “Infinite Barrage” for the boosted firing; the published descriptions present those labels in connection with the Ring’s power-up, not as evidence of two separate abilities.

Steam says that forming R.I.N.G. with encountered allies enables Infinite Barrage without worrying about reloading. In practical terms, the feature rewards fighting alongside other players: the linked group can maintain fire instead of interrupting attacks to reload. That can make the Ring especially valuable when a raid is facing a sustained enemy wave or a large target, although the available descriptions do not publish a damage multiplier or guarantee a particular combat result.

What is confirmed about Ring size?

AUTOMATON’s report on a development build says two players were enough to activate the Ring’s infinite-ammunition and no-reload effects, and that an ordinary Ring’s benefits covered up to six players. Those are preview observations and developer explanations reported by the publication, not a final, independently published ruleset. They do not mean Tower Raid is limited to six people: the Ring group is smaller than the raid’s announced battlefield capacity.

The same account says developers described stronger effects as more participants joined, but no exact buff percentages or activation distance were published. There is therefore no basis for quoting a fixed radius, damage increase, or strict formation rule. Steam also says cooperative combat grows the R.I.N.G. and enables a powerful Ultimate. AUTOMATON describes a piloted-mech Ring Ultimate in its preview and reports that developers assigned its use to the participant who contributed most. That allocation detail belongs to the build covered in that report; it is not established as an unchanging launch rule.

Is the Ring the same as the 30-player raid?

No. Tower Raid is the overall battlefield activity, with capacity announced at up to 30 players. The Ring is a smaller cooperative link within that activity; the preview report’s ordinary Ring limit was up to six beneficiaries. The distinction matters because “30-player raid” does not imply that every participant is always linked to the same Ring or receives the same Ring benefits.

Do you need a premade team to play Tower Raid?

No premade squad is required by the announced setup. GungHo describes players starting alone and meeting others as the battle grows, while Steam says drop-in matchmaking can place players in sessions already in progress. That makes Tower Raid’s intended social structure closer to joining a developing public run than waiting for a fixed 30-person group.

Steam’s official description says: “Drop-in matchmaking lets you join sessions already in progress, so you spend less time waiting and more time playing.” The details do not establish whether every queue, region, or launch-day matchmaking condition will work identically, so the description should be read as the intended matchmaking feature rather than a promise about queue times.

How do Tower Raid, Boss Raid, and Challenge differ?

They are three announced activity types with different objectives and group formats. Tower Raid centers on a large battlefield and the Master Tower; Boss Raid is a separate six-player high-difficulty fight; Challenge covers other objectives and rewards, including timed or day-specific content and speedrun challenges.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Mode Announced group size Main objective Difficulty or availability
Tower Raid Up to 30 players on the battlefield Clear field objectives and destroy the Master Tower Large-group PvE raid; no universal schedule stated
Boss Raid Six players Defeat a formidable foe High difficulty
Challenge Not stated Complete other objectives for rewards, including speedrun challenges Some content is available on specified days or at specified times; no universal schedule or reward amount stated

The mode descriptions come from GungHo’s official site. The site describes Boss Raid as: “A high-difficulty raid battle where you defeat a formidable foe as a small task force.” A boss seen at the end of a Tower Raid preview should not be confused with this separate mode. AUTOMATON reported that it had not played Boss Raid, so its Tower Raid preview does not establish how Boss Raid feels or plays.

What do early previews establish—and what remains uncertain?

Preview coverage offers some context for the planned loop, but it is not a substitute for final release details. AUTOMATON reported five Tower Raid runs of approximately 15 minutes each in its preview experience. That is one publication’s experience with an early build, not a guaranteed run length or a statement that every session will last about 15 minutes.

AUTOMATON found Tower Raid easy to enter but sometimes repetitive in its development-build coverage. Those are the publication’s impressions of that build, not a settled verdict on the finished game. The publisher’s current descriptions establish the announced modes and broad systems; they do not provide published player-count studies, performance benchmarks, Ring damage percentages, or a complete final reward table.
