The exact model matters: P4S800, P4S800D, and P4S800D-X are separate boards, so their manuals and BIOS files should not be treated as interchangeable.
What is the ASUS P4S800D-E Deluxe?
It is a legacy desktop motherboard for Intel Socket 478 processors. ASUS’s P4S800D-E Deluxe User Guide, first edition, December 2003, identifies the chipset as SiS 655TX plus SiS 964 and lists 800/533/400 MHz buses. These are manufacturer specifications, not proof that a particular used board or component is functional.
The exact manual is titled P4S800D-E Deluxe User Guide (E1381). ASUS also has support material for a separate P4S800 model; do not use that model’s manual or BIOS package as if it were confirmed for the P4S800D-E Deluxe.
What CPU does the ASUS P4S800D-E support?
ASUS lists Socket 478 Intel Pentium 4 and Celeron processors, processor speeds up to 3.06 GHz+, Hyper-Threading support, and a power design described as supporting the next-generation Intel Prescott CPU. The guide does not establish compatibility with every Socket 478 processor. Before buying or installing a CPU, confirm the precise board model and revision, the processor requirements, and the BIOS version needed for that processor.

How much RAM does the P4S800D-E take?
ASUS specifies four 184-pin DIMM sockets and a maximum of 4 GB of unbuffered, non-ECC DDR SDRAM. Supported memory speeds in the manual are DDR400, DDR333, DDR266, and DDR200, with dual-channel architecture. That specification answers whether the board supports DDR400: yes, as a listed memory type. It does not guarantee that an arbitrary module configuration will work. Check module organization and compatibility when selecting memory.
What graphics card works with the P4S800D-E?
The board has one AGP 8X slot, five PCI slots, and one ASUS proprietary WiFi slot. Choose graphics hardware by its interface and electrical requirements: a card must match the board’s supported slot and signaling requirements. The manual does not establish compatibility with a particular graphics-card model, and a card’s physical fit alone is not enough to confirm that it is suitable.

What storage and expansion connections are documented?
The manual describes SATA and Ultra ATA storage through the SiS 964 southbridge and a SiS 180 controller. It lists two SATA devices with RAID 0/1 support for the SiS 964, and SATA/Ultra ATA arrangements with RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, and JBOD for the SiS 180. The board also uses a VIA VT6307 IEEE 1394 controller and has two IEEE 1394 connectors. ASUS’s guide provides the detailed connector and rear-panel layout.
For a storage build, check which controller and connector you intend to use, then confirm the operating system has a suitable driver. The existence of a controller feature in the manual does not ensure that a modern operating system will support it without additional drivers.

Is P4S800D-E the same as P4S800D?
No. ASUS names the model in the relevant guide P4S800D-E Deluxe. P4S800, P4S800D, and P4S800D-X are distinct model names, not interchangeable shorthand. Verify the full model printed on the board before using documentation, firmware, or parts lists; a support page for a similarly named model is not sufficient confirmation.

- Model and revision: Read the board markings and match them to the P4S800D-E Deluxe guide.
- CPU and BIOS: Confirm the specific processor’s requirements and applicable BIOS context rather than relying only on Socket 478 fit.
- Memory: Match supported DDR type and capacity, and verify DIMM organization and configuration.
- Graphics: Check interface and electrical compatibility for the intended AGP card or other supported expansion hardware.
- Storage and drivers: Identify the controller and connections you plan to use, and check operating-system driver availability.
- Condition and transaction terms: A specification sheet cannot establish that a used board works. Seek clear evidence of testing, inspect condition, and review the seller’s return terms.
The guide establishes original design specifications; it does not establish current availability, the condition of surviving boards, seller quality, or compatibility of every component combination. ASUS’s exact-model manual is available in the cited archive, but a working current support or download path specifically for this model was not confirmed.
