For most Zenless Zone Zero accounts, Astra Yao is worth owning at M0, but extra copies are optional. The game calls its extra-copy system Mindscape Cinema, not Eidolons or constellations; those terms are common search mix-ups. Astra’s base kit already heals the squad, buffs damage, and enables extra Chain Attacks while keeping her mostly off-field. If you have spare pulls and want to invest, M1 is the best value for most players; M2 is a reasonable stopping point for spenders. Her Elegant Vanity W-Engine is a luxury, and M6 is aimed at players who want Astra herself to deal more damage—not at accounts seeking a stronger support.
What does Astra Yao provide at M0?
At M0, Astra is already a complete S-Rank Ether Support. She can heal the squad, increase team damage and CRIT DMG, share some of her ATK with allies, and turn Quick Assists after her Ultimate into Chain Attacks. Her value comes from supporting the active damage dealer without demanding much field time, not from needing extra copies to unlock a basic role.
Astra entered Zenless Zone Zero in Version 1.5 on 22 January 2025. She fights with a microphone and song, and her central stance, Idyllic Cadenza, is the state that lets her buffs and off-field follow-ups contribute while another Agent is active. The practical loop is straightforward: enter Cadenza with a Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate, then switch to the damage dealer and trigger assists. Avoid holding Basic Attack in Cadenza unless you intend to end the song; its Finale exits the stance.
What the base kit does
- At Special Attack level 12, Idyllic Cadenza grants the squad 20% DMG and 25% CRIT DMG, according to Icy Veins and Gachabase (2026).
- Her Core Passive, “Graceful Andante,” shares ATK equal to 35% of Astra’s initial ATK, capped at 1,200, for 20 seconds; the duration can be extended to 30 seconds. The percentage scales with Core Skill level, so 35% should not be treated as the value at every level.
- At Ultimate level 12, “Fantasian Sonata” restores 2,950 HP to every squad member and converts the next two Quick Assists into Chain Attacks.
- Each 25 Energy gives Astra one Chord. Chords in Cadenza trigger Quick Assists; switching her in consumes 25 Energy and fires a Tremolo treated as an EX Special Attack.
There are two healing figures in Icy Veins’ 2026 pages: its skill-tooltip information gives 2,950 HP at Ultimate level 12, while its build page says the heal is capped at 2,700 HP. Those figures are not directly interchangeable; the higher one is tied to a stated skill level, and the build-page figure may reflect an older or different level. The flat heal also does not scale with investment, so extra Mindscapes are not a way to increase it.

Astra’s Additional Ability, “Moonlit Frenzy,” can also activate when another squad member is an Attack, Anomaly, or Rupture Agent. When its condition is met, it adds a Tremolo and three Tone Clusters. The Rupture condition is part of the updated kit; early January 2025 guides that list only Attack and Anomaly reflect an earlier description.
Is Astra Yao’s M1 worth pulling?
For players who have already decided to spend pulls on an Astra copy, M1 is generally the most attractive first upgrade. Its benefits add resistance reduction, a quicker route to an Ultimate, and a brief defensive safety net; none is required for her M0 support job to function.
M1 is “12-Tone Equal Temperament.” When Astra’s attack hits an enemy, that target loses 6% All-Attribute RES per stack, up to three stacks, for a total of 18%. Repeated applications refresh the duration, which is 30 seconds. On entering the battlefield, Astra immediately gains 1,000 Decibels; in Investigation Zone Mode, this effect can occur once every 180 seconds. That starting Decibel boost can help bring her first Ultimate forward.

This can prevent a hit from interrupting a sequence, but it is a one-hit proc rather than sustained damage reduction.

The resistance shred is the main team-wide offensive addition, while the Decibels and protection improve Ultimate timing and comfort. Mobalytics rated M1 high value in its 21 January 2025 guide, and Icy Veins still calls it a strong Mindscape in its 28 July 2026 update. Neither changes the core conclusion that M0 already supplies Astra’s support package.
How do M0, M1, M2, and M6 compare?
The value curve depends on what you want: M1 improves team utility and timing, M2 adds an ATK-share breakpoint and follow-ups, and M6 turns Astra toward personal damage. M3 and M5 mostly raise skill levels, while M4 offers additional specialty-dependent Quick Assist buffs at a substantial copy cost.

At M2, the extra ATK share is especially relevant to gearing. TOPUPlive’s 26 December 2025 guide estimates Astra needs about 3,429 ATK to reach the M0 share cap, versus about 2,963 ATK at M2. These are that guide’s figures, not universal stat requirements for every build; they illustrate why M2 can ease gear pressure while improving the share.

The squad buff can trigger once every three seconds. That is a more conditional payoff than M1’s broad resistance reduction or M2’s ATK-share improvement.

Should you choose M1 or Elegant Vanity?
M1 is usually the more compelling first Astra investment for a player prioritizing team value. Elegant Vanity is a strong signature W-Engine, but Astra’s support kit does not depend on owning it, and well-geared alternatives can come close.
Elegant Vanity is an S-Rank Support W-Engine with the passive “Untold Beauty.” At level 60, the Wiki and Prydwen list 713 Base ATK and 30% ATK; ZZZ-Build lists 714 Base ATK, a one-point rounding difference among references. At refinement 1, when any squad member enters through Quick Assist, Chain Attack, Defensive Assist, or Evasive Assist, the wearer gains 5 Energy, once every five seconds. When the wearer consumes at least 25 Energy, the squad gains 10% DMG for 20 seconds, stacking twice for up to 20%. Only one instance of the effect can apply to a squad.
That Energy and team DMG are useful, but M1 offers a different kind of value: RES reduction for the team and an immediate Decibel boost. Mobalytics’ 21 January 2025 guide specifically judged Astra’s M1 more valuable than her signature, noting that this was unusual for a limited HoYoverse character. Other guides do not all place the two in the same order. TOPUPlive’s December 2025 ladder prefers M1 before S1, and then M2; its sequence is M0S0, M1S0, M1S1, M2S1, M6S1. Treat that as one guide’s recommendation, not a universal expected-value calculation.

Icy Veins lists Elegant Vanity as Astra’s best W-Engine, with Bashful Demon, Kaboom the Cannon, Weeping Cradle, and The Vault among alternatives. Its guide also notes that a highly refined Bashful Demon can rival or exceed the signature in some buffing setups. ZZZ-Build’s October 2026 assessment likewise characterizes Elegant Vanity as strong but a luxury rather than a must-have. If you have the signature already, it remains a good fit; if you do not, M0S0 can still use Astra’s support abilities fully.

When should you stop investing in Astra?
Stop at M0 if your priority is saving for new Agents; consider M1 if you have spare pulls and value its team utility; treat M2 as the last broadly efficient stopping point for a dedicated Astra investor. M3 and M5 are not compelling targets by themselves, and M6 is for players specifically seeking Astra’s own damage.
- New or F2P account without a premium Support: Astra herself can be a valuable pickup when available, but do not plan extra copies as a requirement.
- M0 owner with a functioning support engine: keeping Polychromes for a new limited Agent is the safer account-wide choice. A universally useful support upgrade still has to compete with roster breadth.
- Spender who particularly likes Astra: M1 is the practical first copy. Elegant Vanity is a comfort and damage-buff upgrade; M2 is the next deliberate breakpoint.
- Astra main or whale: M6 materially raises her Tremolo and Tone Cluster damage and CRIT Rate, but that is a personal-DPS goal rather than a general account-efficiency one.
Guide recommendations agree more on the overall shape than on the exact ordering of M1 and signature: M0 works, M1 is valuable, M2 is a credible endpoint for spenders, and later copies have narrower appeal. Sportskeeda’s 3 February 2025 advice for frugal players was to save for future Agents rather than target Mindscapes; that remains consistent with Astra still being ranked highly at M0. Mobalytics recommended M1, then signature, then stopping at M2, while TOPUPlive favored Mindscapes before the weapon when a player had the budget for two pity pulls. There is no independent expected-value study in the cited material that resolves the difference.

Yes: she remains an elite Support, though the available tier labels differ and should not be collapsed into one rating. ZZZ-Build’s Version 3.3 page, verified 24 October 2026, reports Prydwen’s October tier as T0.5 Support. Icy Veins’ 28 July 2026 build page gives her T0. The newer named tier snapshot is Prydwen’s T0.5, not an “uncontested best” claim.

As of the Version 3.3 snapshot in October 2026, Astra is not on the current banners. Icy Veins’ 28 July 2026 banner information showed the Version 3.3 Exclusive Channel featuring Phoenix and Velina running to 11 November 2026 at 12:00 UTC. Astra debuted in Version 1.5, reran in Version 2.0, and her signature W-Engine was featured again in Version 2.5; older availability notes that stop at Version 2.0 do not capture the weapon’s later banner. Banner status and team examples can change quickly, so this is a dated snapshot rather than a promise of a rerun schedule.
What build helps M0 Astra reach her support cap?
For a support build, prioritize Astra’s Core Skill and enough ATK to reach the Core Passive’s share cap before investing further into ATK for that purpose. The October 2026 ZZZ-Build recommendation uses Astral Voice four-piece with a two-piece Swing Jazz, Moonlight Lullaby, or Hormone Punk; it lists ATK% on Disc 4 and Disc 5, and Energy Regen or ATK% on Disc 6.
- W-Engine: Elegant Vanity is the listed best option; Bashful Demon, Kaboom the Cannon, The Vault, and (in Icy Veins’ list) Weeping Cradle are alternatives.
- Disc Drive main stats: ATK% / ATK% / Energy Regen or ATK% for Disc 4 / 5 / 6.
- Substats: prioritize ATK% and flat ATK until the Core Passive cap, then consider Energy Regen and other useful stats.
- Skill priority: Core Skill, Special Attack, Chain Attack, Assist, Dodge, then Basic Attack, according to ZZZ-Build’s October 2026 guide.
The M0 cap figure of about 3,429 ATK and M2 figure of about 2,963 ATK come from TOPUPlive’s December 2025 build guide. For M0, building beyond the share cap does not increase that particular capped ATK buff; check Astra’s initial ATK and Core Skill level rather than assuming every extra ATK point benefits the team equally.
What is the practical verdict on Astra Yao’s extra copies?
Astra Yao’s “Eidolon” is really a Mindscape Cinema level in Zenless Zone Zero. Own her at M0 for the complete support package, take M1 if you want a meaningful extra-copy upgrade, and stop at M2 if you are deliberately investing. Her signature is optional, while M6 is only a sensible goal for someone who values Astra’s personal damage enough to pay for a long copy path.
