Arizona Sunshine launches as a non-VR, third-person remake on January 21, 2027. Vertigo Games has announced releases for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The game includes a narrative solo campaign, two-player online co-op, local split-screen and a new option to control Buddy, Sunny’s dog, during multiplayer. It is a separate flat-screen release from the already available Arizona Sunshine VR Remake.
When does the Arizona Sunshine remake come out?
The new third-person version launches on January 21, 2027. Vertigo Games and PLAION both list that date, with PLAION classifying the game as a digital release. The PlayStation Store listing currently shows a 10:00 a.m. UTC release time for PS5; a single launch time for every platform has not been established.
What platforms is Arizona Sunshine on?
The 2027 game is scheduled for four platforms:
| Platform | Storefront or status | What is currently confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| PC | Steam and Epic Games Store | Preorders are live |
| PlayStation 5 | PlayStation Store | Preorders are live; store listing shows 10:00 a.m. UTC launch time |
| Xbox Series X|S | Microsoft Store | Preorders are live |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Nintendo eShop | Release announced; preorder availability was planned for a later date |
The reviewed schedule identifies a digital release only. No physical retail edition has been confirmed. Prices, preorder windows and launch timing can vary by country and may change before release.
Is this the VR remake or a flat-screen version?
It is the flat-screen, third-person remake, not a new VR edition. Vertigo Games lists the separate Arizona Sunshine VR Remake as a VR product released on October 17, 2024, with VR-specific combat, graphics and up-to-four-player VR co-op. The January 2027 game is designed for conventional PC and console play.

What does the game include?
The story follows Sunny and his loyal dog Buddy on a darkly humorous, zombie-infested road trip through Arizona. The release combines action, exploration and the series’ character-driven tone, with weapons including shotguns, machetes and flamethrowers.
- Narrative-driven solo campaign
- Two-player online co-op in the publisher’s description
- Local split-screen multiplayer
- Buddy as a playable co-op character for the first time in this release
- Outfits and other cosmetic customization
Store metadata is not completely consistent about online party size. The publisher says “two-player online co-op,” while Xbox metadata lists online co-op for two to four players and local co-op for two. PlayStation metadata says up to four online players with PS Plus and also displays a separate one-to-two-player field. Treat the publisher’s two-player wording as the clearest general description until platform documentation is harmonized.
How much do the Standard and Deluxe editions cost?

What do Arizona Sunshine preorders include?
Preordering on any announced platform includes the Desert Raiders Pack, with exclusive Sunny and Buddy skins. Deluxe Edition preorders also receive 48-hour early access. Vertigo Games advertises 20% off preorders on Steam, Epic Games Store and PS5, but the actual discount and its end date depend on the local storefront. Nintendo Switch 2 preorders were not open when the announcement was published and were expected later.
Do you need a subscription for multiplayer?
Requirements depend on the platform. PlayStation lists online play as optional but requires PS Plus for online multiplayer. Xbox states that console online multiplayer requires an Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate subscription. Is Arizona Sunshine worth preordering?
Preordering is most useful if you want the cosmetic Desert Raiders Pack, and the Deluxe preorder adds two days of early access. The Deluxe edition is also the straightforward choice for players who want the Legacy campaigns and the two additional cosmetic packs. If you prefer to wait for launch details, the Standard edition still provides the complete base campaign and multiplayer modes; platform prices and player-count information may be clearer closer to release.
