Usually, only as a very cheap, carefully checked used device. A Xolo tablet can still make sense for light offline reading, media playback or a simple secondary screen, but its value depends on the exact model, Android version, battery condition, app compatibility and whether a nearby repairer can obtain parts. The Xolo Tab (QC800), for example, was released in September 2013 with Android 4.1, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of storage and a non-removable 4,000 mAh battery. That is a dated baseline, not a specification for every Xolo tablet. What is known about Xolo tablet age and hardware?
The Xolo Tab, model QC800, is a useful example of why model identification matters. - Open Settings and look for About tablet, System or a similarly named page.
- Record the model number, Android version, security-update date (if shown), build number and available storage.
- Open the system-update screen and run the built-in check while connected to trusted Wi-Fi.
- Note the date and wording of the result. “Up to date” means no update is offered to that device at that moment; it is not a promise of future support.
- Restart the tablet and repeat the check after a factory reset if the seller allows it, because modified software or a failed update service can produce misleading results.
Android 4.1, as listed for the QC800, is an old baseline. App developers choose their own minimum Android versions, and Google services can change independently of the tablet manufacturer. Therefore, the only dependable answer to “Will my app work?” is a test on the exact tablet or a compatibility statement for that exact Android version from the app provider.
How do you verify that your apps will work?
Make an app checklist before meeting the seller. Include the services you cannot replace—such as a school portal, work authenticator, e-book reader or media app—and separate them from optional apps. Verify the required items first.
Test on the tablet
- Connect to Wi-Fi and open the tablet’s app store.

Protect your accounts while testing
Use your own temporary test account where possible. Do not leave a primary banking, work or password-manager account signed in on a device you have not reset and inspected. After testing, remove the account and perform a factory reset before ownership changes.

Installing an old application package from an unverified source can expose you to malware, failed updates or missing services. It also does not solve problems caused by an outdated operating system or unsupported hardware. If an essential app is incompatible, count that as a failed purchase unless you have a documented, acceptable alternative.

What should you inspect on a used Xolo tablet?
Physical condition often determines whether a legacy tablet is usable. Spend enough time testing it on battery and while connected to a charger; a device that works for five minutes at a seller’s desk can still have a failing battery or charging circuit.
Battery and charging
- Start with the battery percentage shown at arrival and observe whether it drops unusually fast during 15–30 minutes of ordinary use.
- Use the original or a known-good charger with the correct connector. Confirm that the charge indicator appears and that the percentage rises rather than merely showing a light.

- Do you accept this exact model number, including its regional variant?
- Is the fault one you diagnose and repair, or would the device be sent elsewhere?
