Apple Music 7.0 for Android is appearing as a beta with a refreshed interface inspired by Apple’s Liquid Glass design language. The reported changes center on a floating, translucent navigation bar and a mini-player moved away from that bar; the Android bar reportedly stays visible while scrolling rather than collapsing like its iOS counterpart. A stable release date and universal beta access have not been established.
What changes in Apple Music 7.0 for Android?
9to5Google’s September 30, 2026 report describes a broad interface refresh. Apple’s Google Play listing does not provide detailed 7.0 Android release notes, so these interface details are attributed to that report.
- Navigation and mini-player: The bottom navigation bar floats above the content with modest translucency, while the mini-player sits separately from it. The Android bar reportedly does not collapse during scrolling, unlike the iOS behavior described in the report.
- Page controls: Page titles and overflow menus are arranged together in the top bars, and overflow controls appear inside circular containers. In Library, the overflow menu adds “Edit Pins” and “Edit Categories.”
- Artist pages: Pages use backgrounds based on cover imagery, make the play button more prominent, position artist information higher, and place sharing at the top right.
- Other screens: Settings groups have been refreshed. Now Playing reportedly has no major redesign, and the status and navigation bars adopt an edge-to-edge design.
In practical terms, the most conspicuous change is the separation of playback controls from navigation: the mini-player no longer shares the floating bar’s space. The other reported updates reorganize page controls and artist information rather than changing Apple Music’s core listening features.
How the Android beta relates to Liquid Glass
Apple’s WWDC 2025 developer presentation describes Liquid Glass as a design language using translucent, responsive controls that float above content. Its stated aim is to give content more room and let controls recede or return when needed. That explains the visual inspiration behind the Android refresh, but it does not establish that Apple Music on Android behaves identically to Apple’s operating systems.

The distinction matters most when comparing navigation: 9to5Google says the Android bar remains expanded as you scroll, whereas the report describes the iOS bar as collapsing. The redesign borrows a visual language without matching every reported iOS behavior.
How to try the Apple Music 7.0 beta
9to5Google reports that users can seek beta access through the Apple Music Google Play listing or its linked enrollment page. Enrollment is not necessarily available to every Android user immediately, and the reviewed sources do not establish a public stable-release date.

- Follow the enrollment link and check whether Google Play offers the beta for your account and device.
- If accepted, update Apple Music through Google Play and check the app version after installation.
The report says beta testing usually lasts a few weeks, but that is not a promised timetable for this release. APKMirror listed a 7.0.0-beta package uploaded October 1, 2026, with an Android 11+ label; that is third-party package metadata, not Apple’s official compatibility guidance. The reported Play Store enrollment route is the appropriate first option rather than sideloading.

Apple’s Google Play listing, accessed October 2, 2026, showed an update date of September 22, 2026. Apple says service availability and features vary by country, region, plan, or device, so neither the listing nor the beta report guarantees that every user can enroll or will see identical availability.

The redesign is a visual update, not a documented change to Apple Music’s catalog or audio capabilities. Apple’s listing says it offers over 100 million songs; Google Play showed 100M+ downloads when accessed October 2, 2026, a changing store counter that says nothing about adoption or impact of version 7.0. The listing also notes: “Hi-Res Lossless requires external equipment such as a USB digital to analog converter.” That equipment note concerns Hi-Res Lossless playback, not the beta interface.
