Apple Watch is the screen-equipped smartwatch in this comparison; Fitbit Air and WHOOP 5.0 are screenless wearables, while Pebble Qore Ultra is a lower-priced screenless option reported in India. The biggest differences are the display, ongoing costs, phone compatibility and the kind of coaching each product offers—not proven differences in accuracy.
At a glance: how the trackers differ
| Product | Display and approach | Cost and subscription model | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Watch | Screen-equipped smartwatch with health and fitness tracking, apps and notifications. | Price not stated in the cited sources. | Apple currently offers Apple Watch rather than a screenless fitness band, according to TelecomTalk’s October 3, 2026 comparison. | Fitbit Air | Screenless tracker designed to work with the Google Health app. | Google announced a U.S. starting price of $99.99 with a three-month Google Health Premium trial. Premium coaching requires a paid Premium plan; the tracker itself is not described as requiring a subscription. | Supports most compatible Android and iOS phones. | WHOOP 5.0 | Screenless wearable focused on sleep, strain and recovery metrics and coaching. | WHOOP’s U.S. membership page lists One at $199/year, Peak at $239/year and Life at $359/year; membership includes a device. | Higher membership tiers add features such as Healthspan, stress and health monitoring, ECG and on-demand AFib features. Prices and product availability vary by market and can change. Google’s $99.99 price is from its U.S. announcement; the India prices above are figures reported by TelecomTalk, not current official listings.
Does Apple have a screenless fitness tracker?
No screenless Apple fitness tracker is identified as an available product in the cited sources. Apple’s current wearable offering is Apple Watch, which has a display and smartwatch features as well as fitness tracking. TelecomTalk mentions Apple exploring a screenless wearable, but presents that as a reported idea rather than a product you can buy. See Apple’s Watch page and TelecomTalk’s comparison.
Does Fitbit Air require a subscription?
The Fitbit Air device is not presented as requiring a subscription to track activity, but some premium coaching features require Google Health Premium. Google’s U.S. announcement listed a $99.99 starting price and included a three-month Premium trial; it does not establish current pricing or terms for other countries. Google says availability and eligibility for premium coaching can vary. Check the current Google announcement and Google Store comparison for regional details.

What Fitbit Air tracks—and what its health claims mean
Google lists heart-rate tracking, heart-rhythm monitoring with Afib alerts, blood oxygen (SpO₂), resting heart rate, heart-rate variability (HRV), and sleep stages and duration. It says Fitbit Air works with most compatible Android and iOS phones, with Android 11 or later or iOS 16.4 or later, plus a Google Account and the Google Health app. Compatibility and feature availability should be checked for the user’s country and phone.
These functions are not a substitute for medical care. Google says Fitbit Air is “not intended for medical purposes” and warns that heart-rate accuracy depends on factors such as physiology, device position, movement and activity. Its sleep tracking is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. Consult Google’s product announcement for the complete qualifications.

Fitbit Air battery and charging
Google estimates up to a week of battery life, but describes this as an approximate maximum based on 2025 testing with pre-production hardware and software, default settings and a median user profile. Enabled features, usage and environment can reduce actual battery life. Google also says a five-minute fast charge provides a full day of power; both figures are manufacturer claims, not a like-for-like independent test.
How WHOOP’s membership works
WHOOP’s U.S. offer bundles a device with an annual membership. Its current U.S. page lists One for $199 per year, Peak for $239 per year and Life for $359 per year. The tiers differ in included features and accessories; WHOOP lists ECG and on-demand AFib features among the higher-tier offerings. Check the WHOOP membership page for the current plan inclusions and regional terms.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose based on your phone, habits and budget
- Choose Apple Watch if you want a screen, apps and notifications alongside fitness tracking. It is not the screenless option in this group.
- Consider Fitbit Air if you want a screenless tracker with broad Android and iOS compatibility and do not want a required membership for basic tracking. Budget separately if you want paid Premium coaching.
- Consider WHOOP 5.0 if you value coaching and sleep, strain and recovery feedback enough to accept an annual membership. Compare the tier inclusions rather than treating the device as a one-time purchase.
- Consider Pebble Qore Ultra in India if the reported low introductory price and no-subscription model appeal, but verify the current listing and treat its features and battery claim as TelecomTalk-reported rather than independently confirmed.
No independent head-to-head accuracy comparison is established by the cited sources, so there is no evidence-based accuracy winner here. Battery figures also come from different manufacturer claims and testing conditions, so they are not direct comparative test results.
