iFixit gave the Apple AirPods Pro 3 a 0/10 repairability score in a teardown published on October 1, 2025, according to MacRumors. The score reflects glued-in batteries and difficult, damage-prone access to internal parts. It is iFixit’s assessment—not an Apple rating or an official regulatory standard—and it does not prove that specialist repair is impossible.
Why did iFixit give AirPods Pro 3 a 0/10?
The teardown reporting describes a product that is hard to open without risking damage. Batteries in both the earbuds and charging case are held in place with adhesive; reaching them requires heat and prying against plastic. MacRumors also reports that an internal flex cable is difficult to disconnect, and that iFixit had to destroy components to inspect further internals. These are observations reported from the teardown, not a separate repair test.
On iFixit’s scale, 0/10 is the lowest score. It summarizes poor practical repairability; it is not a measure of sound quality, reliability, or expected lifespan. MacRumors’ October 1, 2025 report attributes the score to iFixit.
Can you replace the AirPods Pro 3 battery?
The battery is physically sealed behind adhesive, so reaching it involves heating and prying open the earbud or case, with a risk of cosmetic or component damage. The available teardown reporting does not establish that no specialist can replace a battery; it shows why the job is difficult and why a straightforward, low-risk DIY replacement is not supported by the teardown.

iFixit’s video description states, “This teardown is not a repair guide,” and directs people seeking instructions to its service manual. Before attempting work, consult an actual repair manual and check Apple’s current service options for your country. Does the 0/10 score change what owners should know?
Not every product specification says something about repairability. Apple lists five included silicone ear-tip sizes—XXS, XS, S, M, and L—and an IP57 dust, sweat, and water-resistance rating. Apple cautions that resistance is not permanent and can decrease with normal wear. Neither the tip options nor the resistance rating changes the teardown’s findings about access to batteries and internal components.

Apple’s published listening-time figures are “up to” estimates under specified conditions, not guaranteed everyday runtimes:
- Up to 8 hours with Active Noise Cancellation enabled.
- Up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking.
- Up to 6.5 hours with heart-rate sensing during workouts.
