Possibly—but it is not confirmed. Microsoft says its next-generation first-party Xbox, Project Helix, will use a custom AMD SoC. A report says the chip reportedly known as Magnus could also be available to PC makers, but no public announcement from Microsoft, AMD, Asus, or MSI confirms a third-party system.
What Microsoft has confirmed about Project Helix
Microsoft has described Project Helix as its next-generation first-party Xbox console, designed to play Xbox console and PC games. Xbox VP Jason Ronald said the console is powered by a custom AMD SoC co-designed for the next generation of DirectX and FSR. Microsoft has not publicly identified that SoC as a retail product called Magnus. Xbox Wire, March 11, 2026
Microsoft also says it plans to begin shipping alpha versions of the hardware to developers in 2027. That is a planned developer-hardware milestone, not a public release date for consumers.
Why Magnus might appear in other gaming systems
On April 21, 2026, Notebookcheck reported that hardware leaker KeplerL2 suggested Magnus would not be exclusive to Project Helix. The report raised the possibility that manufacturers such as Asus or MSI could build Windows gaming systems around the APU. It did not cite an announced product or confirmed supply arrangement. That possibility fits the wider context of Microsoft and AMD’s partnership, but it does not prove that this particular chip will be offered to PC manufacturers. In June 2025, the companies announced a multi-year collaboration to co-engineer silicon for a portfolio that includes future first-party consoles and cloud, with gaming-optimized chips also discussed for consoles, handhelds, PCs, and cloud. The announcement describes a broad partnership, not an OEM commitment for Magnus. Xbox Wire, June 19, 2025
What remains unverified
Microsoft has reaffirmed that Project Helix is a first-party Xbox console. Notebookcheck’s related coverage characterizes third-party Magnus or Helix systems as speculation rather than confirmed products. Notebookcheck, April 21, 2026, updated April 28, 2026

A credible confirmation would come from Microsoft, AMD, or a named manufacturer announcing a specific system or supply arrangement. If products are announced, useful comparisons will depend on confirmed chip configuration, form factor, performance, price, software and storefront support, and availability. None of those details is established for third-party Magnus systems today.
