That is a product-segment expansion—not the first appearance of 3D V-Cache beyond gaming: AMD already uses it in consumer Ryzen X3D and EPYC server processors.

AMD says select Ryzen PRO 9000 processors will include 3D V-Cache. The announcement marks the technology’s first use in the commercial desktop segment. If you want a consumer gaming CPU
Ryzen X3D remains the relevant consumer desktop product context. AMD announced the Ryzen 7 9850X3D with 104 MB total cache and said systems from OEMs, system integrators, and retail partners would begin availability in Q1 2026. Verify current availability and price with sellers; the announced rollout date is not a guarantee of stock. AMD also announced the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition as its first desktop processor with dual 3D V-Cache.

If you need a business workstation
Look for a complete system listing from an OEM or workstation vendor that names the exact Ryzen PRO processor and configuration. The announcement alone does not show that a particular system is available or that a PRO processor is sold as a standalone retail CPU. Ryzen PRO is a commercial/workstation product context, not an automatic drop-in gaming upgrade.
If you are evaluating server workloads
EPYC is the server product line, with different processors and workload targets from Ryzen X3D and Ryzen PRO. AMD published up to 1,152 MB of L3 cache per CPU for EPYC 9004 processors with 3D V-Cache; that maximum applies to that server product context, not Ryzen PRO.

How to interpret AMD’s performance figures
- AMD claimed up to 66 percent performance uplift across targeted technical-computing workloads for third-generation EPYC processors with 3D V-Cache, compared with comparable non-stacked third-generation EPYC processors. This is a vendor claim for that comparison and those workloads, not a Ryzen PRO result. AMD’s EPYC announcement provides the comparison context.
- The Ryzen 7 9850X3D’s 104 MB total cache is a model-specific figure in AMD’s 2026 announcement, not a specification that should be generalized to every X3D or PRO processor. AMD’s CES announcement states the figure.
- AMD’s technology page reports gaming tests conducted in its performance labs, so those results should be understood as AMD’s own testing rather than independent benchmarks. AMD’s 3D V-Cache page describes its technology and gaming test conditions.
For a useful comparison, match the exact processor, workload, system configuration, and test conditions. Do not apply results from consumer gaming tests or EPYC server comparisons to the Ryzen PRO processors without relevant testing.
