Alien: Isolation 2 is not yet available to buy, and its final storage or hardware requirements have not been published. SEGA has announced versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam. The release date and price are still listed as to be determined, while the official storefronts show an announcement, wishlist or “Coming soon” state rather than a completed purchase.
That means nobody can responsibly state how many gigabytes the sequel will download, how much installed space it will occupy, whether a day-one patch will be required, or which PC processor, graphics card and memory it needs. You can still prepare a reliable buying check now: identify your exact platform, inspect the official listing when its size fields appear, compare that figure with available storage, and revisit the listing close to release.
What is confirmed about Alien: Isolation 2?
The currently published facts establish the platforms and the game’s purchase status, but not its installation footprint.

Creative Director Al Hope described the project as the first glimpse of a sequel after more than a decade since the original, promising a “new, evolved Isolation experience.” The announcement also refers to a smarter Alien, a harsher environment and slimmer survival chances. Those creative details do not establish a technical requirement.

How much storage will Alien: Isolation 2 need on PS5, Xbox or Switch 2?
No authoritative number has been published for the download, installed game, required free-space reserve, update size or additional download on any announced console. The official PlayStation Store page currently has no download-size or installation-size field, and the other current announcement pages do not supply one either.
Do not use the original Alien: Isolation PC requirement as a substitute. Its 35 GB figure belongs to a different game and release; it is not evidence for the sequel. A sequel may use different assets, compression, language packages, patching and platform packaging, so an apparently precise estimate would be misleading.
What the eventual listing should tell you
When the product pages are finalized, look for separate labels rather than assuming that one number answers every storage question:
Recommended Free Tools
- Download size: the data transferred from the store. A compressed download can be smaller than the space needed while it is unpacked.
- Installation size: the space occupied after installation. This can differ by platform, edition and language selection.
- Required free space: the amount the console must have available to download, unpack and install the game. It may be larger than the final installed size.
- Additional download or update note: a warning that a disc or base package is not the complete playable build.
- Patch information: a day-one or launch update can add to the space needed at the time you install.
If a store shows only one figure, record exactly what the label says and the date you saw it. Do not silently convert “download size” into “permanent storage used.”
How do I check my console storage before buying?
Use the console’s built-in storage-management screen, then compare the available-space figure with the final official requirement for your exact version. Because that requirement does not exist yet, the steps below are a preparation workflow rather than a current installation test.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Identify the exact platform. Confirm whether you will use PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or Switch 2, and note whether you intend a digital or physical edition. “Xbox Series X|S” describes a family, not one identical storage configuration. For PS5, distinguish the standard console from the Digital Edition if a listing later separates them. For Switch 2, check whether a physical package, game card and digital edition have different download notes.
- Open the official storefront listing. Use the platform store page tied to your account, not a search snippet or an unofficial retailer placeholder. Check for download size, installation size, required free space, language packs and additional-download language. The current pages support announcement tracking or wishlisting; they do not yet provide those final fields.
- Record available space. In the console’s storage or manage-storage area, note the free capacity on the internal drive and any supported expansion. Take a screenshot or write down the figure and date so you can compare it with the finalized listing later.
- Leave practical headroom. The publisher has not stated a reserve for this game. Keep room beyond the stated requirement for updates and for the temporary space a console may need while installing. The amount of headroom is your operating margin, not an Alien: Isolation 2 specification.
- Recheck close to release. Metadata can change as the build, language options, editions and launch patch are finalized. Treat an early wishlist page as a snapshot, not a permanent specification.
What if the listing has conflicting numbers?
Prefer the platform holder’s current product page or the publisher’s final requirements over an old cached page. Check whether one number refers to a download and another to installed space, and look for a separate patch or additional-download note. If the conflict remains, wait for clarification rather than deleting other games or purchasing storage based on the larger number alone.
Can I install Alien: Isolation 2 on Xbox Series S?
The game is announced for Xbox Series X|S, so Series S is within the confirmed platform family. However, the official material does not yet state the Series S download size, installed size or free-space requirement. You will need the final Xbox store listing to determine whether your console has enough room.
Series S has less internal capacity than some other current consoles, making the distinction between required free space and final installed size especially important. Do not infer compatibility or capacity from the original game’s requirements, from the Series X version, or from an unverified estimate. Check the listing attached specifically to your console family and edition when the store publishes it.
What are the current PC requirements for Alien: Isolation 2?
Steam currently publishes only the operating-system entries. Windows 10 is listed as the minimum operating system and Windows 11 as the recommended operating system. CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, DirectX, SSD, resolution and frame-rate requirements are not published.
| PC field | Current status | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum operating system | Windows 10 | An operating system entry alone cannot establish playable performance. |
| Recommended operating system | Windows 11 | This is an OS recommendation, not a recommended hardware tier. |
| Processor | Not published | No responsible minimum or recommended CPU comparison is possible yet. |
| Graphics card | Not published | Do not buy a GPU based on a prediction or on the original game’s specification. |
| Memory | Not published | The required RAM amount is unknown. |
| Storage | Not published | No PC disk-space number or free-space reserve is available. |
| DirectX, resolution and frame rate | Not published | The target visual settings and performance level are unknown. |
| SSD requirement | Not published | The listing does not currently say that an SSD is required. |
Wait for the complete Steam requirements table before deciding whether an existing computer is suitable. A complete table should identify processor, graphics, memory, storage, graphics API and any SSD requirement, ideally alongside the resolution and frame-rate target for each tier. Until those fields appear, a “can my PC run it?” answer would be speculation.

Do I need an SSD for Alien: Isolation 2?
No official source currently says that the sequel requires an SSD on PC or console. Steam has not published an SSD requirement, and the console listings have not published storage requirements of any kind.
That uncertainty is different from an upgrade option. On PS5, Sony documents an expansion route using a PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 NVMe SSD. Sony lists capacities from 250 GB to 8 TB, recommends sequential read speeds of at least 5,500 MB/s and requires effective heat dissipation, such as a suitable heatsink. Sony also states that games can be downloaded to M.2 storage and that PS5 games can be played from it.
A PS5-compatible M.2 NVMe SSD with a heatsink is therefore a legitimate way to increase capacity if your console later lacks room. It is an accessory decision, not proof that Alien: Isolation 2 will require an SSD. Confirm the drive’s compatibility and cooling requirements against Sony’s current documentation before installing it.
What should I do if my console is nearly full now?
Do not buy an expansion drive solely on an unannounced game size. First, inventory installed games and captures, remove content you can redownload, and check whether your console already has supported expansion storage. Then compare the finalized requirement with your measured free space.
For a PS5 owner, the documented M.2 route provides a forward-looking capacity option, but the drive should be selected for the console’s PCIe Gen4x4 interface, 250 GB–8 TB supported capacity range, recommended 5,500 MB/s sequential-read speed and adequate heatsink. Xbox and Switch 2 expansion choices should be checked against their own official compatibility rules when the game’s listing is available; no Alien: Isolation 2-specific expansion requirement has been announced.

Is Alien: Isolation 2 available to buy yet?
No. As of October 30, 2026, the official pages identify the game as announced, wishlisted or coming soon rather than available for checkout. SEGA lists both release date and price as to be determined, PlayStation gives no release date, and Steam says the title is not yet available.
A wishlist can notify you when the listing changes, but it is not a reservation, a preorder, a guaranteed edition or evidence of final storage data. Do not treat a retailer page that displays a placeholder as confirmation of price, physical contents or launch availability.
Will there be a physical copy?
The current official information does not establish platform-specific physical SKUs, regional availability, edition contents or whether a disc or game card will contain the complete game. It also does not say whether a substantial download will be required for a physical purchase.
Wait for SEGA or the relevant platform holder to identify the exact physical editions. Once announced, inspect the package or store description for required downloads, storage media, language support and any platform-specific differences before choosing physical over digital.

When should I check the requirements again?
Check at three useful points: when the store page first gains a final product listing, shortly before release, and on launch day if a day-one update is announced. Each check answers a different question.

What is the safest buying decision right now?
You can wishlist the announced platform version and prepare your storage, but you cannot yet make a storage-based purchase decision with confidence. The missing figures are not minor details: they include the console download, installed footprint, free-space reserve, patch size and, for PC, nearly every meaningful hardware field.
Use the eventual official listing for your exact platform, compare its stated requirement with the free space shown by your console or PC, and keep additional room for installation and updates. Until those specifications appear, any precise gigabyte estimate or PC parts list is conjecture.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a wishlist automatically reserve enough storage for the game?
No. A wishlist only tracks a product announcement or sends availability notifications. It does not reserve disk space, download data in advance or guarantee that your console will meet the final free-space requirement.
Could the required space differ between digital and physical editions?
Yes. A physical package may contain some data on a disc or game card while still requiring an update or additional download. The final product description must state those conditions; no such edition-specific information is published yet.
Does the Windows 10 minimum mean older gaming PCs will run the sequel?
No. Windows 10 is currently the only minimum field shown on Steam. Without a CPU, GPU, RAM, storage and performance target, the operating-system entry cannot predict whether a particular computer will run the game acceptably.
When will an exact storage number become trustworthy?
Use the number on the finalized official platform listing, preferably close to release, and check again for a launch-day patch. Early placeholders and third-party predictions can change when the build, languages and editions are finalized.
