A March 2026 update also lists a Clash Rune Box in a progression reward sequence. These routes have different availability and requirements; they are documented examples, not a complete or guaranteed-current drop list. Check your region’s live event, quest, shop, and reward interfaces before planning around one.
How do you get more Clash Runes?
Most of the documented routes award a container rather than a bare Clash Rune. The available evidence identifies bound chests from several sources, a Nightmare shop chest listing, and a separate box in an update reward sequence. It does not establish how many runes each container yields or whether every container has identical contents.
| Route | Availability | Cost or effort | Level or limit details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rainbow Shell event merchant | Time-limited event; the cited notes are for Korea | 5 Rainbow Shells per bound chest | Level 10; maximum 3 purchases per week per server |
| All Work and No Play quest | Regional quest; check its current availability in your client | Complete the quest and speak to Xiao at Thunder Lightning Merchants HQ | Recommended level 45; this is not stated as a hard unlock requirement |
| Attendance rewards | Event-specific and time-limited | Claim the reward on the listed attendance day | The cited Global event ended February 4, 2026 |
| Nightmare shop | Listed by a progression guide; current stock should be checked in-game | Price not stated in the cited guide | Purchase limit and reset conditions not stated in the cited guide |
Where can I get a Clash Rune Chest?
Exchange Rainbow Shells during the event
AION 2 Database’s Korea-specific July 15, 2026 update notes, published July 14 and updated July 20, list a bound Clash Rune Chest for 5 Rainbow Shells. The notes set a limit of 3 purchases per week per server and a level 10 requirement. They place the merchant NPCs in faction village locations and describe Rainbow Shell as event currency. The notes say: “Use the Event Currency [Rainbow Shell] (Event) at Merchant NPCs to purchase the items below.” Read the July update notes for the event details.
This is an event exchange, not evidence of a permanent vendor. The cited notes cover Korea, so availability in another region—or in a later event cycle—is not established. Confirm that the event and its merchant are active in your own client before collecting shells for this purpose.

Complete the regional quest All Work and No Play
The quest entry lists a bound Clash Rune Chest among the rewards. It directs players to talk to Xiao at the Thunder Lightning Merchants HQ and gives level 45 as the recommended level. Recommended level should not be read as a confirmed hard requirement. See the quest entry, and check the quest’s current reward and availability in-game if patch freshness matters.
Claim attendance rewards while the event runs
The Global “Happy New Year” attendance schedule listed Clash Rune Chests on days 9, 13, 19, 22, and 28. That event ran from December 24, 2025 through February 4, 2026, so it is historical evidence of an attendance route, not a currently claimable schedule. Other attendance events may offer different rewards on different days. Check the live event interface rather than relying on that past calendar. View the Happy New Year schedule.

Inspect the Nightmare shop
A progression buying guide lists both Clash Rune Chest and Devotion Rune Chest among Nightmare shop items connected to the rune system. The cited passage does not give a price, stock limit, or reset schedule. Open the shop in your client to see whether the Clash Rune Chest is currently offered and what it costs; those details should not be assumed from the guide. See the progression buying guide.
What are Clash Rune Chest, Bundle, and Box?
These are distinct reward-container names in the sources, not interchangeable labels for a known identical reward. The Clash Rune item entry associates the rune with “Clash Rune Chest (Bound)” and “Clash Rune Bundle (Bound).” A March 18, 2026 update note includes a “Clash Rune Box (Bound)” in a repeating reward sequence. The available entries do not map every container to every activity or establish that their contents match. Check the Clash Rune item entry and the March 18 update notes for those names.

How should you choose a route?
- If the Rainbow Shell event is live in your region: the notes provide a specific exchange cost and weekly cap, so check your shell balance and remaining server limit before purchasing.
- If you are progressing through regional quests: inspect All Work and No Play and its reward listing; its recommended level is 45.
- If an attendance event is active: read that event’s own calendar. The cited New Year schedule is over and should not be used as a current timetable.
- If you use the Nightmare shop: verify current availability, price, and limits in the client, since the guide passage does not supply them.
No route yield-per-hour comparison is established by these sources, and they do not provide a complete current regional drop table. Treat the methods above as documented options and verify live details in your region’s game client.
