Short answer: The AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G is interesting if you want a high-resolution AMOLED screen, a 6,000mAh battery and a Dimensity 7400 chip at a launch price of ₹16,999 (6GB/128GB) or ₹18,999 (8GB/128GB) in India. It is a less certain purchase if you need long software support, a large service network or unambiguous specifications: published listings disagree about its refresh rate, water resistance, charger and storage expansion. Treat the exact retail SKU, included accessories and carrier-band list as purchase checks rather than assuming every listing describes the same phone.

What the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G is, and who should consider it

The AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G is a mid-range Android phone launched in India on April 9, 2026. Its consistently reported hardware includes a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB storage, a 6,000mAh battery, 33W wired charging, a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 13MP selfie camera. It runs Android 16 with the company’s NxtQuantum OS (also described as NxtQ OS in launch material).

That combination makes the Ultra appealing for buyers who prioritize screen sharpness, battery capacity and general performance over guaranteed long-term support. The important qualification is software: a 2026 Beebom review reports one major Android update and two years of security patches. A phone bought in 2026 could therefore receive its final promised security fixes around 2028, subject to the company’s delivery schedule.

At this price, the Ultra should be compared with every budget 5G alternative on sustained performance, display quality, network bands, update policy, after-sales support and the contents of the box—not just megapixels or a peak refresh-rate number.

Launch price versus later listings

Gadgets 360 reported the following India launch prices on April 9, 2026:

Variant RAM Storage Launch price (India)
Entry model 6GB 128GB ₹16,999
Higher-memory model 8GB 128GB ₹18,999

A Beebom product listing dated September 10, 2026 showed a starting price of ₹20,999. That later figure may reflect a seller price, a changed market price or a different offer; it should not be presented as the launch MSRP. Before paying, record the seller, variant, bank discount, exchange condition, warranty terms and whether a charger is included. A ₹2,000 launch gap between the 6GB and 8GB versions is meaningful only if both versions are still sold near their original prices.

Baseline specifications—and the details that are not settled

Specification Most consistently reported information Qualification
Display 6.78-inch, 1.5K AMOLED Refresh rate is reported as 144Hz by Gadgets 360 and FoneArena, but 120Hz in a Beebom review.
Processor MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Verify the model name on the retail box and device information page.
Memory 6GB or 8GB RAM Both variants are reported with 128GB storage.
Rear cameras 50MP main plus 8MP ultrawide Published material does not provide a standardized camera score.
Front camera 13MP Image quality depends on processing and lighting, not resolution alone.
Battery 6,000mAh Capacity is a stated specification, not a laboratory endurance result.
Charging 33W wired support Reviews mention an 18W adapter or other values; confirm the charger supplied with your SKU.
Software Android 16 with NxtQuantum OS/NxtQ OS Beebom reports one major OS update and two years of security patches.
Wireless Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 These features are listed in launch and product specifications.
Durability IP64 in launch and Flipkart data TechObserver claims IP68; this conflict must be resolved from the exact SKU documentation.
Expandable storage Up to 1TB appears in Flipkart and FoneArena-related specifications Some comparison tables omit a card slot. Do not buy a microSD card until the tray is confirmed.

The conflicting entries are not minor editorial differences. An IP64 phone and an IP68 phone have different water-resistance expectations; a 120Hz panel and a 144Hz panel may behave differently; and a 33W-capable phone supplied with an 18W adapter will charge at a different rate out of the box. Photograph the box label and inspect the phone’s settings before the return window closes.

Display: high resolution, but verify the maximum refresh rate

The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel is one of the Ultra’s strongest on-paper advantages over entry-level 5G phones that use HD+ LCD screens. The higher pixel count can make text, maps and photos look cleaner, while AMOLED generally enables deeper blacks and stronger contrast. It also means a larger panel to power, so battery life depends on brightness, refresh-rate settings, network signal and software tuning.

Three reputable listings do not agree on the refresh rate: Gadgets 360 and FoneArena list 144Hz, while Beebom’s review lists 120Hz. Ask the seller for the exact model code and check the phone’s display menu for the selectable maximum. If the menu tops out at 120Hz, do not treat a 144Hz listing as a feature you will receive. For most users, a stable 120Hz mode is already smooth; sustained performance and brightness matter more than the extra 24Hz.

Performance and thermals: compare sustained use, not just the chip name

The Dimensity 7400 places the Ultra above the standard Nova 2 5G, which is reported with a Unisoc T8200. It should be capable of everyday multitasking, navigation, streaming, social apps and moderate gaming, but no independent laboratory benchmark or standardized thermal test is established for this phone. Do not infer a guaranteed frame rate or gaming temperature from the processor model alone.

When comparing another budget 5G phone, look for evidence of sustained performance after 20 to 30 minutes of gaming or camera recording, not only a short benchmark score. Check whether the phone reduces brightness, drops the refresh rate, closes background apps or becomes uncomfortable to hold. A retailer demo can reveal touch response and launcher smoothness, but it cannot replace a return-period test with your own games and SIM.

Reported software behavior

Beebom described launcher stutter and a need for optimization. That does not prove every unit will stutter, but it is a reason to install the latest system update, test scrolling in the launcher and switch between several heavy apps before the return period ends. If animation remains uneven after updates and a clean restart, decide whether the performance trade-off is acceptable before the return deadline.

Software support is the Ultra’s clearest weakness

Beebom reports one major OS update and two years of security patches for the Android 16-based NxtQuantum OS. Ask the seller or manufacturer to confirm whether the major-update promise means one update after Android 16 (to Android 17) or includes the version shipped on the phone. Also ask how often security patches are released; a two-year window does not guarantee monthly delivery.

Competitors in the same price class may offer longer commitments. Compare the number of promised Android versions, the security-patch end date, the stated rollout schedule and the company’s record of delivering updates in your region. If you keep phones for four or five years, a longer-supported model can be cheaper in practice even when its launch price is slightly higher.

Cameras: useful hardware, limited independent evidence

The rear system combines a 50MP main camera with an 8MP ultrawide, and the front camera is rated at 13MP. The ultrawide adds a wider perspective for architecture and groups, while the main sensor should be the default for low-light scenes. Resolution numbers do not establish dynamic range, autofocus reliability, skin-tone rendering or night performance.

Because no independent laboratory camera score or standardized sample set is established, compare phones by taking the same daylight, indoor and night shots. Inspect fine foliage, moving subjects, faces against bright windows and ultrawide edge distortion. Check whether video stabilization, HDR and the front camera’s portrait mode meet your needs. A phone with one well-tuned main camera can outperform a device with more sensors but weaker processing.

Battery and charging: large capacity, uncertain in-box speed

The 6,000mAh battery is larger than what many budget 5G phones provide and should give heavy users more headroom. Actual endurance varies with 5G signal quality, screen brightness, refresh rate, gaming, camera use and background synchronization. Do not convert the capacity into a promised number of hours without a controlled test.

The phone is consistently described as supporting 33W wired charging, but reviews mention an 18W adapter or other values. Confirm three separate items: the maximum charging protocol supported by the phone, the wattage printed on the included charger and whether a compatible cable is supplied. If the box contains an 18W adapter, reaching the phone’s advertised maximum may require a separate compatible charger. Never assume a third-party charger will deliver 33W unless its protocol and safety certification match the phone.

5G, Jio and Airtel: how to check compatibility safely

The launch report confirms 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6 and dual-SIM support. FoneArena lists 5G standalone and non-standalone bands n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, n77 and n78 for related Nova 2 specifications. That list is useful but does not prove that every Nova 2 Ultra SKU has identical radio support.

Jio and Airtel deploy different combinations of 5G spectrum and may use standalone or non-standalone modes depending on location. Before purchase:

  1. Get the exact Ultra model number from the seller, box or regulatory label.
  2. Compare its official band list with the bands used by your Jio or Airtel plan in your city.
  3. Ask whether both SIM slots retain 5G capability or whether one slot falls back to 4G when the other is active.
  4. Insert your SIM, enable 5G in the preferred-network menu and test calls, data and handover between 5G and 4G during the return period.
  5. Check VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling with your carrier; 5G support alone does not guarantee every carrier feature.

If a seller cannot provide the Ultra’s exact band list, treat the phone as unverified for your network rather than relying on a related-model specification.

AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G versus the standard Nova 2 5G

The Ultra is positioned as the more capable model. Reported differences are:

Feature Nova 2 Ultra 5G Nova 2 5G
Processor MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Unisoc T8200
Display 1.5K AMOLED HD+ panel
RAM options 6GB or 8GB 4GB or 6GB
Rear cameras 50MP main plus 8MP ultrawide Single 50MP camera
Selfie camera 13MP 8MP
Battery 6,000mAh 6,000mAh
Charging Reported faster than the standard model; 33W support is listed Lower specification in comparison reports

Choose the Ultra when the sharper AMOLED display, extra camera and stronger processor justify the price difference. Choose the standard model only when it is substantially cheaper and your usage is limited to basic communication, streaming and light apps. The shared 6,000mAh capacity means the standard model is not automatically worse for endurance; its HD+ screen may even reduce display power use, although no controlled battery comparison is established.

Comparison area Questions to ask Why it matters
Sustained performance Does performance hold after extended gaming or recording? Does the phone throttle? Short benchmarks can hide heat and frame-rate drops.
Display Is it AMOLED or LCD? What is the resolution, brightness and verified refresh rate? Panel quality affects readability, battery use and perceived smoothness.
Battery and charger What is the tested endurance, battery capacity and wattage of the included charger? A large battery is less useful if charging is slow or the adapter is not in the box.
Cameras How do daylight, low-light, ultrawide and video samples compare? Sensor megapixels do not predict processing quality.
5G and SIM behavior Are your carrier’s SA/NSA bands present? Does dual-SIM mode retain 5G? Band gaps can leave you on 4G despite a 5G logo.
Updates How many Android versions and security years are promised? Support determines how long the phone remains secure and compatible.
Protection and warranty What IP rating is printed for the exact SKU, and who handles warranty service? Conflicting listings make written confirmation essential.
Storage Is there a microSD slot, and what is its stated capacity limit? 128GB can fill quickly with 4K video, games and offline media.
Service coverage Is there an authorized center near you and a published repair process? TechObserver cautions that AI+ has a smaller service network than Xiaomi, Realme or Samsung.
Total transaction price What remains after bank, exchange, delivery and accessory costs? A discount can disappear when a charger or extended warranty is added.

Is 6GB or 8GB RAM the better choice?

The 6GB/128GB version is the value choice if you mainly browse, message, stream and use a few apps at a time. The 8GB version gives more headroom for keeping games, browsers and social apps in memory and is the safer choice if you plan to keep the phone for several years. Both variants are reported with the same 128GB storage, so RAM does not solve a storage shortage.

Check whether the software uses virtual or extended RAM. It borrows slower storage and is not equivalent to physical RAM. Pay the premium for 8GB when the price gap is close to the original ₹2,000, you multitask heavily or the phone lacks a confirmed microSD slot. Choose 6GB when the 8GB model is priced near the later ₹20,999 listing and a better-supported competitor is available for similar money.

Pre-purchase and first-day verification checklist

  1. Confirm the exact RAM/storage variant and model number on the invoice and box.
  2. Verify the current price, seller, return period and warranty issuer; keep screenshots of the offer.
  3. Open the box on video and check the charger’s printed wattage, cable, SIM tool and regional plug.
  4. In Settings, record the Android version, build number, storage capacity and available display refresh-rate options.
  5. Inspect the SIM tray for a microSD slot before buying a card.
  6. Run system updates, restart the phone and test launcher scrolling, app switching and biometric unlock.
  7. Test both SIMs, 5G registration, VoLTE, calls, mobile data and Wi-Fi calling with your carrier.
  8. Take daylight, indoor, night and ultrawide photos; record a short stabilized video.
  9. Charge from a low battery level with the supplied adapter and note whether the phone identifies the expected charging mode.
  10. Check for unusual heat, rapid battery drain, touch dead zones, display tint or dust under the panel while the return window remains open.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them

Assuming every listing describes the same hardware

Refresh rate, IP rating, charger output and storage expansion are disputed. Save the specification page for your exact seller and resolve contradictions in writing before ordering.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buying on the 144Hz claim alone

A verified 120Hz screen can feel smoother than an unstable 144Hz mode. Check the actual setting and prioritize brightness, touch response and thermal stability.

Confusing charging support with the supplied charger

33W phone support does not establish that a 33W adapter is included. Budget for a compatible charger only after checking the box contents.

Ignoring service access

A low purchase price is less attractive if repairs require shipping the phone long distances. Locate an authorized center and read the warranty exclusions before payment.

Expecting long software life

One major OS update and two years of security patches is a short commitment for buyers who keep phones for four years or more. Compare support dates before comparing camera counts.

Who should buy the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G?

  • Good fit: buyers who want a large 1.5K AMOLED display, a 6,000mAh battery and a Dimensity 7400 phone near the original ₹16,999–₹18,999 launch range.
  • Consider carefully: users dependent on a specific Jio or Airtel 5G band combination, a microSD card, an in-box 33W charger or a particular IP rating.
  • Look elsewhere: buyers who require a long update policy, extensive service-center coverage or independently tested camera and thermal performance.

The Ultra can be good value when the verified SKU is discounted near launch pricing and your carrier bands, charger expectations and service options check out. At a later price around ₹20,999, its short update promise and specification conflicts make comparison shopping much more important.
