Charge both phones and unlock the old one

Google’s guidance says the cable and wireless options support the same transfer categories. A cable does not guarantee that every app login, encrypted file, download, or eSIM profile will move automatically; those items need separate checks.
How do I transfer data with a cable?
Use this route when the old Android phone is available and you have a compatible data cable. The AI+ phone’s included USB‑C cable may be sufficient, but a USB‑C cable that supports charging only will not carry the transfer.

- Open the copy step. When Android asks whether to copy content, tap Copy apps & data.
- Connect the phones. Plug the cable into the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G and the old Android phone. If the phones use different connectors, use a compatible adapter or switch to wireless transfer.
- Approve the connection. Unlock the old phone and follow the prompts on both screens. Keep the devices connected and nearby while Android prepares the list of transferable items.

How do I transfer data wirelessly?
Wireless transfer is the practical alternative when the two phones cannot be connected directly. Keep both phones charged, unlocked, and close together until the copy finishes.
- Open setup on the AI+ phone. From the welcome flow, tap Start, connect to Wi‑Fi, and choose Copy apps & data.
- Choose the wireless route. Tap No cable, then tap Transfer wirelessly.
- Prepare the old phone. Open the Google app on the old Android phone and search for
set up my device. - Begin pairing. Tap Next on both phones. Android displays shapes and numbers; confirm that they match on the two screens.
- Select the content. Tap Copy, review the available categories, and select what should move to the AI+ phone.
- Keep the process undisturbed. Leave both devices near one another, connected to power if possible, until copying and app restoration finish.
Wireless transfer can take longer when the selection contains many photos, videos, or apps. Google gives no fixed duration; its guidance says a transfer may take from minutes to hours depending on the amount of data.
How do I restore data when I do not have the old phone?
Use the restore option during setup if the old phone is lost, damaged beyond use, or already wiped. This method depends on a Google One device backup that contains the information you need.

- Turn on the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G and tap Start.

- Choose the option to restore from an old-device backup rather than connecting another phone.
- Sign in with the same Google Account used on the old Android phone.

Android’s official guidance describes Google One as a way to restore content, data, and settings from a previous device backup. If the backup is old, anything created after its last successful run may need to be recovered from the old phone, a separate cloud service, or another copy.
What normally copies from an old Android phone?
Google lists the following categories as commonly transferable during Android setup.

What may not copy automatically?
Plan separate handling for items outside Android’s standard transfer set.
- Downloads: PDFs, installers, and other files in the Downloads folder may need manual copying.
- Hidden-folder media: Pictures or videos stored in application-specific or hidden folders may not appear in the selection.
- Apps installed outside Google Play: Sideloaded applications may need to be downloaded and installed again from their legitimate source.
- Apps without Android backup: An app can reinstall without bringing back its local database or settings if the developer does not use Android backup.
- Non-Google accounts: Data belonging to other account providers may require signing in to that service and enabling its own synchronization.
- Contacts and calendars synced elsewhere: Items tied to another provider may not appear in the Google transfer selection.
- Ringtones and some device settings: These may need to be recreated manually.
Make a list of work, school, banking, security, and messaging apps before starting. That list is more reliable than assuming that an app icon on the new phone means its account and data are ready.

Will WhatsApp chats transfer?
WhatsApp chats and data can be restored from the cloud after you sign in on the AI+ phone and open WhatsApp, but the old phone must have WhatsApp chat backup enabled first. If the old phone still works, open WhatsApp there and confirm that a recent chat backup completed before beginning the Android migration.
After installing or restoring WhatsApp on the AI+ phone, use the same account and follow WhatsApp’s restore prompt. Check several old conversations, media thumbnails, and group memberships rather than assuming that the app’s installation alone proves the restore worked.
What happens to passwords, passkeys, and app logins?
Password-manager applications generally need to be reinstalled and unlocked on the new phone. Verify that your password vault, passkeys, and individual app sessions are available before wiping the old device.

Some services deliberately require a fresh sign-in or a second-factor approval on a new handset. Keep the old phone available for one-time codes, authenticator prompts, recovery keys, and banking verification until each account has been tested on the AI+ phone.
Can an eSIM move to the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G?
Do not assume that an eSIM profile will copy with ordinary Android data. Android notes that eSIM transfer instructions vary by device and carrier, so follow the carrier’s activation process and confirm that calls, texts, and mobile data work on the AI+ phone before deleting the old profile.
If the AI+ phone uses a physical SIM instead, confirm which SIM slot and mobile-data setting are active. The device is listed as dual-SIM 5G, but carrier support and the exact SIM configuration depend on the model and region.

Use this checklist after direct transfer or Google One restore. Mark an item complete only after opening or testing it on the AI+ phone.
- Contacts from the phone, SIM, and any separate account are present.
- Recent SMS and multimedia messages open correctly.
- Photos and videos from the camera and important albums are visible.
- WhatsApp restores the expected chats and recent media.
- Authenticator apps generate valid codes, or account recovery methods are confirmed.
- The password manager opens and passkeys or saved credentials are available.
- Banking, work, school, and other high-security apps can sign in and pass their verification checks.
- Call history and voicemail access are available if you rely on them.
- Downloads, PDFs, music, ringtones, and other manually managed files are copied.
- The eSIM or physical SIM provides working calls, texts, and mobile data.
- Free storage remains for normal use and pending app updates.
Only after these checks pass should you back up anything newly created on the AI+ phone and factory-reset the old device using its own Settings menu.

How do I fix common transfer problems?
The cable is not detected
Unlock the old phone, disconnect and reconnect both ends, and try another cable known to carry data rather than power only. If the connectors differ, use a compatible adapter; if Android still does not detect the phone, return to setup and select the wireless method.
I skipped the setup wizard
Look in Android settings for Finish setting up your device and follow the available restore or copy prompts. Google notes that this option’s location and availability vary by device and Android version. If the prompt is no longer offered, restore what is available from the Google Account backup and move remaining files separately.
The AI+ phone does not have enough space
Restart the setup selection with fewer categories, leaving very large videos and downloads for a later manual transfer. Remove duplicate files only after confirming that an original copy exists on the old phone or in cloud storage.
The transfer appears stuck
Check that both phones remain unlocked when prompted, powered on, and connected to Wi‑Fi. Do not factory-reset the old phone. If the cable route repeatedly fails, cancel and retry wirelessly; if the old phone is no longer usable, select the newest Google One backup instead.
An app installed but its data is missing
Open the app and sign in using its own account. Apps that do not use Android backup, apps installed outside Google Play, encrypted app data, and service-specific databases may require the app’s own export or restore procedure.
What if the destination is a Samsung Galaxy instead?
This article’s procedure is for the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G, but Samsung’s official support documents a separate Smart Switch utility for Galaxy phones. Smart Switch can use Wi‑Fi, a USB cable, or a PC or Mac. Samsung warns that encrypted app data, some login details, apps outside the Play Store, and DRM-protected content may not transfer, so those categories still require verification.

Yes. In the cable or wireless copy screen, review the categories and clear the ones you do not want. This is useful when the AI+ phone has limited free space or when large media files will be moved separately.
Why did an app return without my saved progress?
Android can reinstall an app while omitting its private database when the developer does not support Android backup. Look for an export, cloud-sync, or account-restore option inside that app, and keep the old phone until you have checked for one.
How can I tell whether my Google One backup is recent enough?
On the old phone, check the device-backup status in your Google settings before starting, if the phone is available. Compare the backup time with the date of your latest photos, messages, and other important changes; anything newer may need a direct transfer or separate copy.
