The Ai+ Nova 2 5G is a sensible low-cost choice when 5G, a very large battery and uncluttered Android matter more than display sharpness, charging speed, camera quality or premium speakers. Its value depends heavily on the storage tier and the price you actually pay: the phone launched at ₹8,999 and ₹10,999, while later listings were substantially higher.
Use the comparison framework below to check the exact seller, configuration, network compatibility and update promise before choosing it over a current Redmi, Realme, OPPO or other budget Android model.
The short answer: who should buy the Nova 2?
Choose the Ai+ Nova 2 5G if your priorities are reliable everyday performance, access to 5G, long battery endurance and a relatively clean Android experience at the lowest practical price. It is particularly compelling when the 6GB/128GB version is close to its launch price and you can tolerate an HD+ screen and slow charging.
Look elsewhere if you spend a lot of time reading small text, streaming high-resolution video, taking night photographs, playing demanding games for long sessions, or topping up the battery in a hurry. A competing phone may offer an FHD+ or AMOLED panel, faster charging, stereo speakers or a more explicit long-term software policy even when its battery is smaller.
#1 Best Overall
The Nova 2 is not a universally better phone than every alternative under ₹10,000 or ₹15,000. Treat it as a strong battery-and-5G option whose final value changes with the dated street price, memory tier and the features you use most.
Ai+ Nova 2 5G specifications at a glance
| Specification | Ai+ Nova 2 5G | Why it matters when comparing |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.74-inch LCD, 720 × 1600 (HD+), 120Hz | High refresh rate makes scrolling feel smoother, while HD+ resolution is less sharp than many FHD+ alternatives. |
| Processor | Unisoc T8200 | Compare sustained performance and thermal behaviour, not only advertised clock speed. |
| Memory and storage | 4GB/64GB or 6GB/128GB | The larger tier gives more usable space and headroom for multitasking. |
| Expansion | microSD support stated up to 1TB | Confirm the slot layout and the card capacity you intend to use. |
| Rear camera | 50MP | Resolution alone does not establish low-light or video quality. |
| Front camera | 8MP | Suitable for basic calls and selfies; check processing expectations. |
| Software | Android 16-based NxtQuantum/nxtQ software | Check the written update commitment and the exact software build at sale. |
| Battery and charging | 6000mAh; 18W rated charging | The capacity favours endurance, but charging is slow by current smartphone standards. |
| In-box charger | 10W adapter reported in a one-week review | The included adapter may charge more slowly than the phone’s maximum rating. |
| Size and weight | 168.04 × 77.7 × 8.7mm; 205g | Large dimensions and weight affect one-hand use and pocket comfort. |
| Durability | IP64 resistance | Useful against dust and splashes, but not a promise of water-submersion protection. |
| Connectivity | Dual SIM, 5G, Wi‑Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 | Verify supported 5G bands for your carrier and region. |
| Wired audio | 3.5mm headphone jack | Helpful if you use wired earphones or a car auxiliary input. |
| Box contents | USB cable, clear case and screen protection reported alongside the adapter | Included accessories can change the real cost of ownership. |
These hardware details were reported by FoneArena in 2026, with the accessory list coming from Gadgetbridge’s one-week review. Retail packaging can vary by market, so check the seller’s current listing before relying on every item.
Price: compare the same configuration, not just the headline number
| Configuration and price source | Amount | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 4GB/64GB launch price announced by Ai+ in 2026 | ₹8,999 | Launch pricing, not a guaranteed permanent retail price. |
| 6GB/128GB launch price announced by Ai+ in 2026 | ₹10,999 | The more useful tier if the premium over 4GB/64GB remains modest. |
| 4GB/64GB listing reported by 91mobiles in 2026 | ₹13,587 | A dated marketplace listing; verify seller, stock, warranty and delivery before treating it as today’s price. |
| 6GB/128GB listing starting price reported by 91mobiles in 2026 | ₹14,999 | Another dated listing, not a manufacturer-set MSRP. |
The launch sale began on April 14, 2026 through Flipkart and selected retailers. A large gap between launch and later listings means the Nova 2 can shift from an excellent value to an ordinary buy without any hardware change. Search both memory tiers on the day you purchase, then add delivery charges, a reputable microSD card if needed and any case or screen protector not included by that seller.

What reviewers actually liked and disliked
Beebom’s assessment
Beebom Gadgets gave the phone an 8.5 rating and called it a well-rounded entry-level 5G smartphone. Its positives were solid battery life, reliable performance and clean software. The review’s reservations were slow charging, average low-light photographs and sub-standard speakers.
91mobiles’ assessment
91mobiles assigned an 8.0/10 expert rating. It also found dependable performance, fairly clean software, 5G and strong endurance, while highlighting a flimsy rear panel and slow charging. The glossy back was reported to attract smudges and minor scratches.
Gadgetbridge’s week-long check
Gadgetbridge documented a 10W adapter, USB cable, clear case and screen protection in the box. It reported Ai+’s promise of one major operating-system upgrade and three years of security patches. Because update delivery can depend on region and carrier certification, look for that promise in the current sales documentation rather than assuming every future build will arrive on the same schedule.

1. Match the delivered price and memory tier
Start with like-for-like storage. Comparing a 4GB/64GB Nova 2 with a competitor’s 6GB/128GB model can make the cheaper sticker price misleading. Record the handset price, delivery fee, payment discount, warranty terms and seller. A low listing from an unfamiliar seller may not be equivalent to an authorised sale.
Rank #3
2. Confirm 5G bands and carrier support
The Nova 2 is a 5G phone, but the label alone does not guarantee compatibility with every Indian network. Ask the seller or manufacturer for the complete band list and compare it with your operator’s bands in your city. Also check whether dual-SIM use changes 5G availability on the second line. If you do not have 5G service, pay for it only when the rest of the phone is competitive; 5G should not compensate for a poor display or camera.
3. Compare sustained performance
The Unisoc T8200 should be judged by the tasks you perform: app launches, navigation, messaging, video calls and casual games. Look for evidence of sustained performance and heat after prolonged use rather than relying on a single benchmark or peak clock figure. Six gigabytes of RAM is the safer choice for keeping several apps open; four gigabytes is adequate for lighter use but leaves less room as apps grow.
4. Decide whether HD+ is acceptable
A 120Hz refresh rate can make menus and feeds look fluid, yet it does not increase pixel detail. On a screen this large, text and fine interface elements will appear less crisp than on an FHD+ panel. An AMOLED alternative may add deeper blacks and stronger contrast, but it can cost more or use a lower refresh rate. Read or watch content on the actual panel type you prefer before treating refresh rate as the deciding specification.

5. Weigh endurance against charging time
The Nova 2’s large cell is its clearest hardware advantage for commuters, travellers and users who cannot charge during the day. Its charging system is the compromise: the phone’s rated speed is modest, and the supplied adapter reported in testing is slower still. If you routinely recharge between meetings, compare the alternative’s charging wattage, charger-in-box policy and independent time-to-full tests, not just battery capacity.
Rank #4
6. Assess camera and audio priorities
The 50MP rear camera is best viewed as a daylight, social-sharing camera. Reviews found low-light results merely average, so buyers who photograph children, pets or evening scenes should inspect sample images from the exact competing model. Speaker quality was also criticised; stereo speakers or a stronger single speaker may matter more than an extra camera sensor. The 3.5mm jack is a counterpoint if you prefer wired headphones.
7. Read the software promise in writing
NxtQuantum/nxtQ is based on Android 16 and is described as relatively clean, with privacy controls as a positive. The documented commitment reported by Gadgetbridge is one major OS upgrade and three years of security patches. Compare the duration, start date, update frequency and support channel with every alternative. A phone promising more years may be preferable even if its interface includes more preinstalled apps.
8. Check physical protection and handling
IP64 provides dust resistance and protection from splashes, not immersion. The glossy rear’s tendency to show fingerprints and minor scratches makes the included clear case useful rather than ornamental. At 205g and nearly 8.7mm thick, the Nova 2 is substantial; users with smaller hands should compare grip width and button reach in a shop or use a return policy that allows a genuine fit check.
9. Price the storage expansion properly
Sixty-four gigabytes can fill quickly after system files, photos, offline video and messaging media are counted. Budget for a reputable microSD card and confirm whether apps, photos and video can be moved in the way you expect. Before choosing an alternative, check whether its card slot is dedicated or shared with the second SIM; a nominally larger internal-storage figure may be more convenient than managing a card.

Which type of alternative makes sense?
| Your priority | Nova 2 fit | What to seek in an alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest practical 5G price | Strong when discounted near the launch amounts | Equivalent 5G band coverage, at least the same memory tier and a trustworthy warranty. |
| Maximum endurance | Very strong because of the large battery | Similar capacity plus faster charging if you can accept a smaller cell. |
| Sharp reading and video | Compromised by HD+ resolution | FHD+ LCD or AMOLED, with brightness suitable for outdoor use. |
| Fast top-ups | Weak point | A higher charging rating and a matching adapter included in the box. |
| Night photography | Only adequate according to reviews | Stabilisation, larger camera sensor or demonstrably better low-light processing. |
| Clean interface and privacy | Positive fit | A transparent update schedule and limited bloatware, not just a clean-looking screenshot. |
| Audio without accessories | Speakers were criticised, although a headphone jack is present | Stereo speakers if loud, balanced media playback is important. |
| Long ownership | Documented promise is one major OS upgrade plus three years of security patches | A longer, clearly dated support commitment from the manufacturer. |
Current Redmi, Realme and OPPO phones can occupy these price bands, but their model names and promotions change frequently. Compare the exact model number and configuration rather than assuming that every phone from a brand has the same panel, charger or update policy.
A practical buying checklist
- Set a delivered-price ceiling. Include shipping, a memory card and any required protective accessory.
- Choose the RAM/storage tier first. Prefer 6GB/128GB for heavier multitasking; select 4GB/64GB only when the price gap is meaningful and you will manage storage.
- Verify the seller. Check return window, invoice, warranty issuer, manufacturing date and whether the listing is for a new, sealed unit.
- Confirm network bands. Match the published 5G bands with your operator and location, and check dual-SIM behaviour.
- Inspect the display specification. Decide in advance whether HD+ resolution is acceptable; do not let 120Hz alone make the decision.
- Check the charging bundle. Confirm the adapter’s wattage, cable, regional plug and whether a faster compatible charger is sold separately.
- Read the update policy. Look for the number of OS upgrades, security-patch duration and the date from which support is counted.
- Plan protection and storage. A case helps with the glossy rear, while a reliable microSD card may be necessary for the smaller tier.
- Use the return period intelligently. Test SIM registration, 5G connection, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, camera focus, speaker clarity, charging behaviour and screen uniformity before the deadline.
Bottom-line decision
Buy the Ai+ Nova 2 5G when its actual selling price is close to the launch positioning, you value endurance and 5G, and an HD+ LCD with slow charging is an acceptable trade-off. The 6GB/128GB version is the more sensible long-term configuration when its premium is reasonable.
Choose a budget alternative instead when a similar-priced model gives you a substantially sharper screen, faster charging, better night photography, stereo audio or a longer written update commitment. The Nova 2’s strengths are real, but they are concentrated in battery life, basic reliability, clean software and connectivity rather than in every component.
