The practical decision is therefore not simply “install Vivecraft.” It is “find the Vivecraft build that belongs to this profile.” A modpack that runs on one Minecraft release and loader family is a different technical target from a pack with the same name on another release. Treat the version labels as requirements, not suggestions.

Compare the file metadata, not only its title. Confirm the Minecraft version, loader family, and any loader-version detail shown by CurseForge or the project listing. If several files appear similar, select the one whose metadata matches all recorded profile details. Keeping a note of the chosen file makes later troubleshooting easier if you need to remove it or reproduce the setup.
How do I add Vivecraft to an existing CurseForge profile?
Use CurseForge’s existing-profile Add More Content flow when the matching Vivecraft file is available there. If it is not available through that flow, add the matching file to the selected profile’s mods folder instead. In either case, make sure you are modifying the intended profile rather than another installation.

- Find Vivecraft and select the release that matches the profile’s exact Minecraft version and loader.
- Review the selected file’s version details and listed dependencies before adding it.
- Return to the profile and confirm that the file appears among its installed mods.
The available file selection can depend on the profile’s version and loader. If you cannot find a matching release in this flow, do not select a near match just to make the installation proceed; use the matching file from the project listing if you can confirm it is compatible with the profile.
Before clicking to add the file, compare the displayed game version with your note. CurseForge may show multiple releases of the same project, and the newest release overall is not automatically the correct release for an older pack. The target is the newest suitable file for your exact combination, not necessarily the newest file on the page.
Option 2: Add the file to the profile’s mods folder
- Identify the exact CurseForge profile folder for the modpack you intend to change.
- Obtain the Vivecraft mod file for that profile’s Minecraft version and loader.
- Place the mod file in that profile’s
modsfolder. Do not put it in a different profile’s folder or replace the pack’s loader. - Check that the file is present alongside the pack’s other mods, then launch the profile through CurseForge.
Do not install an unrelated installer or a file for a different loader as though it were the mod file for this profile. If the pack already has a working setup, preserve a copy before making changes so you can restore it if the new file prevents the profile from launching.
When using the folder method, close the game and CurseForge profile before moving the file, then reopen the profile through CurseForge. Keep the original file set unchanged elsewhere if you may need to compare startup behavior. The purpose of this method is only to add the correctly matched mod file; it is not a reason to restructure the pack or migrate it to another loader.
Do I need MC VR API as well as Vivecraft?
Not simply to make Minecraft run in VR. Vivecraft is the VR mod; MC VR API is a separate interoperability library used by other mods to work with Vivecraft. Its project listing explicitly says it does not turn Minecraft into a VR game by itself.
Use the dependency information on the specific files you choose. If another mod in the pack requires MC VR API, check that library’s version and listed dependencies against the profile. Its listing says Architectury is required except on Minecraft 1.16 versions. Do not add the API merely because you are installing Vivecraft unless the relevant file or modpack instructions call for it.

This distinction matters when diagnosing a failed launch. Installing MC VR API without Vivecraft does not provide VR, while adding it unnecessarily can introduce another dependency to validate. Conversely, if a pack mod explicitly lists the API, omitting it can produce a dependency error even though Vivecraft itself is present. Follow the dependency declarations for the exact Minecraft version rather than copying libraries from another pack.
How should I test the pack before using my main world?
Launch the modified profile and test a new or expendable world first. A successful installation does not prove that every mod feature, screen, or rendering effect works correctly in VR.
- Start the PC VR environment required by your setup, then launch the modified profile through CurseForge.
- Check whether the game reaches the main menu without a crash or loader error.
- Create or open a test world and check basic movement, interaction, and the screens or mod features you rely on.
- If the pack uses visual or interface modifications, check those features directly rather than assuming a successful launch means they render correctly.

Then compare the symptom with the version-specific compatibility information and test the suspected mod separately in a copy of the profile. If removing or changing a mod restores the behavior, decide whether that feature is essential; otherwise, restore the original profile and do not use the altered world as your only copy.
Do not read “modpack support” as a guarantee that every included mod will remain usable. It means a pack can be attempted, with individual conflicts handled as necessary. A chart entry for one version also cannot certify another version, even when the mod has the same name. Recheck the chart whenever you update Minecraft, Vivecraft, the loader, or a conflicting mod.

What should I do if the profile will not start or VR features are broken?
Use the symptom to narrow the problem. Do not assume every launch failure is caused by Vivecraft, but verify the version and loader pairing before investigating more complicated conflicts.
