A tipster claimed that a “super limited” GeForce RTX 5090 prototype with 128GB of VRAM was priced at about $13,200. That figure is not a verified sale or current listing, and the hardware itself has not been independently authenticated. NVIDIA’s official RTX 5090 specification is 32GB of GDDR7, not 128GB.

What was claimed about the 128GB RTX 5090?

On September 7, 2025, social-media tipster I_Leak_VN posted: “Another fun 5090 128G prototype 😂 super limited with ~13.2k USD price 😂” The post described a purported prototype, not a confirmed retail product or a vendor offer. Tom’s Hardware’s September 2025 coverage treated a screenshot reporting 128GB detection and the stated price as evidence that the modification might function commercially, while discussing the unusual configuration it would require.

HotHardware reported on September 8 that the original poster did not appear to know the purported builder and that the apparent evidence was a screenshot of NVIDIA System Management Interface. That report does not establish a seller, a completed transaction, or independent hardware authentication.

How does the claim compare with the official RTX 5090?

NVIDIA’s stock GeForce RTX 5090 specification lists 32GB of GDDR7 memory and a 512-bit memory interface. Its specifications also list 21,760 CUDA cores, 575W total graphics power, and a recommended system power of 1,000W. These are specifications for the standard card; they do not verify or describe the purported modification. NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 specifications

Why is the 128GB claim disputed?

VideoCardz published a skeptical assessment on September 9, 2025. It noted that GDDR7 then existed in 16Gb and 24Gb capacities, with no announced 32Gb part, and said the claimed GDDR7X prototype had not been demonstrated. It also questioned whether the screenshot established authenticity and flagged the shown NVIDIA 550 driver branch as predating Blackwell support. These are VideoCardz’s reporting and technical assessment, not proof that a modification is impossible. VideoCardz’s report

The accounts therefore do not settle the matter: Tom’s Hardware treated the reported detection and price as potentially meaningful, while VideoCardz challenged the evidence and technical details. A screenshot or a reported detection is not the same as an authenticated card, a reproducible demonstration, or a benchmark.

Is the reported $13,200 price real?

About $13,200 is the price I_Leak_VN claimed in the September 7, 2025 post. The sources cited here do not verify that anyone bought the card at that price, confirm a seller or live listing, or establish the figure as a current market quote. Treat it as a social-media claim, not a price you can use to shop or calculate value.

What should buyers compare instead?

For a consumer GeForce card, the verifiable baseline is the standard RTX 5090’s 32GB specification. For workloads where capacity is the limiting factor, the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell is a documented professional comparison at up to 96GB, according to VideoCardz’s 2025 report. Capacity alone does not establish which GPU is right: match the specific application, software support, power requirements, warranty and support, and independently tested performance to the workload.

TechRadar’s July 2, 2026 coverage describes Intel Arc Pro B70 cards as an AI-oriented alternative and discusses four-card configurations totaling 128GB. It reports that the RTX 5090 is faster for some decode tasks because of memory bandwidth, while capacity-heavy model workloads may benefit from the Arc configuration. Those are reported comparisons, not tests of the alleged 128GB RTX 5090. TechRadar’s Arc Pro B70 coverage

What has not been established

  • An independently authenticated 128GB RTX 5090 sample.
  • A seller, verified transaction, or currently available listing at $13,200.
  • A reproducible benchmark showing how the alleged card performs.

Until evidence like that is available, the 128GB card and its price should be treated as disputed claims, not an established product or buying option.
