Yes. You can use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on a Samsung Galaxy tablet by installing Microsoft’s Android apps and signing in with a Microsoft account. Basic editing is free on Android devices with screens up to 10.1 inches; advanced features depend on your Microsoft 365 plan and device. On supported Galaxy Tabs, Samsung DeX adds a desktop-like workspace, but it does not remove Microsoft’s app or feature limits.
Can you use Microsoft Office on a Samsung tablet?
Samsung Galaxy tablets run Android, and Microsoft provides Android tablet versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You can install Microsoft’s combined Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app or download the individual apps. Availability and compatibility depend on your region, tablet, and Android version. Microsoft says its Android apps support only the last four major Android versions, so check the current Microsoft 365 system requirements for your device.
How to install Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Choose whether to use the combined Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app or install Word, Excel, and PowerPoint individually. Microsoft documents both options for Android in its Android app setup guide.

Open the app and sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your files. If your organization provides Microsoft 365, sign in with your work or school account instead.

Open or create a document, spreadsheet, or presentation. If an app or feature is unavailable, verify Android compatibility and regional availability before troubleshooting the tablet.
Do you need Microsoft 365 to edit Office files?
Not necessarily. Microsoft says core editing is free on Android devices with a screen size of 10.1 inches or less. Some capabilities require a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription, and the available features can depend on the plan and account context. For example, business storage or protected files may have additional requirements. Check Microsoft’s current subscription and editing guidance before choosing a plan.

Use the apps in tablet mode or Samsung DeX
In ordinary tablet mode, Office apps use the Galaxy Tab’s touchscreen and, where supported, S Pen input. On compatible models, Samsung DeX presents a desktop-like workspace on the tablet screen. You can use touch or pair a USB or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse; DeX is optional and is not required to open or edit Office files. Should you add a keyboard, mouse, or monitor?
These accessories are optional. A Bluetooth keyboard can make longer typing sessions more comfortable, while compatible Galaxy Tab models can also work with a Samsung keyboard cover. Samsung describes a Book Cover Keyboard paired with DeX as a laptop-mode option; check the cover’s fit for your specific tablet. Its DeX keyboard and mouse instructions explain the supported input workflow.
A USB-C-to-HDMI adapter is useful only if your exact tablet supports the desired wired display mode. Samsung lists external-display compatibility separately from standalone DeX, and some models do not support particular wired or wireless display options. Verify the model before buying display accessories.
