Microsoft announced a reimagined Microsoft Marketplace on September 25, 2025, as a place for businesses to find, try, and buy partner cloud software, AI apps, and agents. Its catalog is available online and through Azure and Microsoft products; Microsoft’s current public page lists more than 4,000 AI apps and agents and 11,000 models, without specifying an as-of date for those counts.
What is Microsoft Marketplace?
Microsoft Marketplace is a software discovery and procurement catalog for partner offerings. It covers cloud and industry solutions such as AI apps and agents, infrastructure, databases, collaboration tools, and security products. Customers can browse it on the web, through Azure, and in Microsoft products. Microsoft Marketplace
At the September 2025 launch, Microsoft described the reimagined service as a trusted source for cloud solutions, AI apps, and agents. In a September 25, 2025 announcement, Alysa Taylor, Microsoft Chief Marketing Officer, Commercial Cloud & AI, wrote: “To empower customers in becoming Frontier, we’re excited to announce the launch of the reimagined Microsoft Marketplace, your trusted source for cloud solutions, AI apps and agents.”
What are AI agents?
Microsoft describes an agent as a solution that can perform tasks ranging from simple question-and-answer interactions to autonomous, multi-step processes. In Microsoft’s customer FAQ, an app is contrasted with an agent as something that responds to a single prompt. These are Microsoft’s category descriptions; an individual listing’s actual capabilities depend on the product. Microsoft Marketplace customer FAQ

How large is the AI catalog?
Microsoft’s current Marketplace page lists 4,000+ AI apps and agents and 11,000+ models. Those are Microsoft-reported catalog figures; the page does not identify an explicit date for the counts, and they are not presented here as independently audited totals. Microsoft Marketplace
For launch context, Microsoft’s 2025 partner blog cited more than 3,000 AI apps and agents and said more than six million people visited Microsoft Marketplace each month. Those were launch-era Microsoft statements, not the current catalog count or an independent traffic measurement. Microsoft partner blog

How can customers evaluate and buy an offer?
Microsoft says customers can browse without signing in, compare offers, and try free trials where available. Payment options may include a card, invoice, or eligible Azure commitment credits. Availability and terms vary by offer, so review the specific listing before starting a trial or purchase. Microsoft Marketplace customer FAQ
For a meaningful comparison, check:
- Use case: Does the offer address the business function or task you need?
- Compatibility: Does it work with your Microsoft products and existing environment?
- Deployment and integration: How will it be deployed, and what systems must it connect to?
- Trial and purchase terms: Is a trial available, and what conditions apply when it ends?
- Pricing model: Is the offer priced by subscription, usage, or another model, and which payment routes are available?
How can publishers list apps and agents?
Microsoft’s publisher guidance describes routes for Azure offerings and Microsoft 365 or Copilot agents. Microsoft 365 and Copilot agents can be associated with linked SaaS offers; SaaS monetization can be entitlement-based, usage-based, or a combination. Publishers must meet Marketplace requirements to list and monetize an offer, and a listing does not guarantee customer demand. Microsoft publisher guidance
