Short answer: NVIDIA’s official specifications already describe Blackwell GPUs as two-die designs, but the available sources do not confirm a separate plan to use chiplets in a “next-gen Blackwell” product. NVIDIA’s subsequent Rubin architecture is also officially described as a two-die GPU; that fact—and a separate report about Rubin Ultra—does not verify the Blackwell allegation.
What NVIDIA has confirmed about Blackwell
NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture page says that all Blackwell products feature two reticle-limited dies connected by a 10 terabytes-per-second (TB/s) chip-to-chip interconnect and unified as a single GPU. NVIDIA also lists 208 billion transistors and TSMC 4NP as the manufacturing process.
That is a multi-die design: the GPU combines two dies rather than relying on one monolithic die. But the specification describes Blackwell products generally; it does not establish a newly planned, later Blackwell variant or confirm the specific “next-gen Blackwell” claim in the headline.
How Rubin fits—and what it does not prove
In a technical post published July 21, 2026, NVIDIA describes Rubin as having two reticle-limited compute dies connected in one package through its NV-HBI link. This is an official description of Rubin, the architecture succeeding Blackwell—not confirmation that a future Blackwell product has a particular chiplet configuration.

NVIDIA’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 26, 2026, says Vera Rubin production shipments began in fiscal 2027’s third quarter. The filing also says NVIDIA expected to ship both Blackwell and Rubin systems. That places the two architectures in the company’s roadmap context, but the filing does not resolve the specific next-generation Blackwell allegation.
What the Rubin Ultra report says
A July 6, 2026, Tom’s Hardware report, attributing its information to SemiAnalysis, said a planned four-chiplet Rubin Ultra GPU had changed to a dual-chiplet design. The report also quoted an unnamed NVIDIA representative: “Our roadmap is intact.” The statement was reported in connection with the Rubin Ultra and Kyber roadmap story, not as a response to the Blackwell allegation.

The sources available here do not establish who first made the precise “next-gen Blackwell” claim or when; whether NVIDIA has discussed a later Blackwell variant beyond the documented products; or whether the wording refers to an unannounced SKU, a mistaken label, or confusion with Rubin. There is no named direct quote confirming the alleged plan. Without clarification from NVIDIA or reliable reporting specifically addressing that claim, the most accurate conclusion is that the allegation remains unverified.
