There is no single, verified PC specification for PS5 emulation. Requirements depend on the emulator: KytyPS5 documents a 64-bit x86 CPU and a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU, while SharpEmu requires a Vulkan-capable GPU. The project requirements reviewed do not establish a general RAM capacity, SSD requirement, or storage-space figure. Meeting a listed requirement also does not guarantee that a particular game will run well—or be playable.
Why PS5 emulator requirements vary
Each emulator project defines its own supported host platforms and graphics requirements. A CPU or GPU requirement listed by one project is not a universal minimum for PS5 emulation. SharpEmu says its platform support is experimental and that compatibility and performance vary by game, operating system, and GPU driver. Check the documentation and compatibility information for the specific emulator and game you intend to use.

What published game results say about performance
Reported frame rates and compatibility states are observations tied to a particular game, emulator build, and test—not minimum-spec benchmarks.
KytyPS5 reports
Tom’s Hardware reported on July 31, 2026, that KytyPS5 ran XIII at up to about 30 FPS with visible environmental and texture glitches. The same report described Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Wrath of the Mutants running at around 22–24 FPS after crashing on its first launch, then operating steadily after a restart. SharpEmu reports
Tom’s Hardware reported on September 27, 2026, that SharpEmu developers had six of 55 tested titles reaching a playable 60 FPS state, while 12 had reached a game-ready state. The six reported playable titles were Dreaming Sarah, Void Terrarium, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Tetris Forever, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered. The report said the developers had not tested those games from start to finish; minor graphics or audio problems could remain. This dated milestone is not a guarantee of playability on another PC or in a later build. Tom’s Hardware report, September 27, 2026.

- Choose an emulator first. Read its current project documentation for supported operating systems, CPU architecture, graphics API, and driver requirements.
- Check your GPU’s API support and drivers. For KytyPS5, the listed GPU requirement is Vulkan 1.3 with current drivers. For SharpEmu, verify Vulkan support and use a current graphics driver.
- Look up the exact game’s status. Distinguish a title that merely boots from one that reaches a game-ready state or has been reported playable. A compatibility label does not necessarily mean the game has been tested to completion.
- Read the conditions behind any result. Where available, check the emulator build, game, host OS, GPU driver, observed frame rate, glitches or crashes, and whether the test covered the full game.
A machine can satisfy an emulator’s API requirement and still encounter an unimplemented feature, rendering problem, crash, or poor performance.
