Xbox Cloud Gaming supports several ways to play, but the right input depends on both your device and the game. You can use a compatible controller, touch controls in games that offer them, or a mouse and keyboard in select titles. Before buying a controller, check compatibility for your exact device and model.
Which controllers work with Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Microsoft describes support for a range of Bluetooth controllers, including Xbox controllers, PlayStation DualSense and DualShock controllers, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers. That is a broad description of the service, not a guarantee that each controller works with every phone, browser, TV, operating system, or game. Check the compatibility information for your intended setup. Microsoft’s game-streaming input documentation
Using a controller with a VIDAA TV
For Xbox Cloud Gaming through the Xbox app on a VIDAA OS-powered TV, Xbox recommends a supported Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller and names the Xbox Wireless Controller as an example. Xbox advises checking with VIDAA support for compatible TV models. Xbox’s announcement about the app on Hisense and VIDAA TVs
The Xbox Wireless Controller is therefore one option to consider for a VIDAA TV, but confirm the exact controller revision and TV model before purchasing. Xbox’s TV guidance points to support for compatible controller models, but a complete tested-model list is not established here. Xbox on TVs

Can you play without a controller?
Touch controls on mobile
Some cloud games provide touch controls on mobile devices. Microsoft describes both touch overlays and controls integrated directly into a game; some touch layouts are translated into virtual gamepad input. Touch support is title-specific, so check the individual game’s listing or on-screen options rather than assuming it is available across the service. Fortnite is one example of browser-based play on iPhone, iPad, Android devices, and Windows PCs with mobile touch controls or a supported controller. That example applies to Fortnite; it does not mean other Xbox Cloud Gaming games support touch. Fortnite through Xbox Cloud Gaming

Mouse and keyboard
Microsoft says mouse and keyboard are supported in select cloud games. Confirm that the particular game supports them before starting; support for those inputs is not universal across Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft’s game-streaming input documentation
Choose an input method for your setup
| Input method | Where it fits | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Supported controller | A physical input option across supported devices; Xbox specifically calls for a supported Bluetooth controller in its VIDAA TV guidance. | Confirm the controller model, connection method, and compatibility with your device. |
| Touch controls | Mobile games that provide touch overlays or direct touch integration. | Check whether the particular game offers touch controls. |
| Mouse and keyboard | Select cloud games. | Verify support for the specific game instead of assuming service-wide compatibility. |
Check compatibility before you buy or connect
- Identify where you plan to play: for example, a phone, computer and browser, or VIDAA TV. Compatibility can differ by device.
- Check the current official guidance for that device and the exact controller model. For VIDAA TVs, Xbox points users to VIDAA support for compatible TV models.
- Confirm the game supports your intended input. Touch controls and mouse-and-keyboard support are limited to titles that offer those features.
- For a VIDAA TV, consider a supported Bluetooth controller such as the Xbox Wireless Controller, but verify your TV and controller revision before buying.
Controller models, device support, and game input options may change. Check current Xbox and device-maker compatibility information for your setup before relying on an older recommendation.
