Go to Settings > Account Info > Update Email, enter the new address and your current Roblox password, then verify the message sent to the new address. If you cannot sign in, use Roblox account recovery or contact Roblox Support; support may require proof of ownership and does not guarantee a change.
If you can still sign in to Roblox
Not being able to open the old inbox is different from being locked out of your Roblox account. Roblox’s standard email-change procedure sends verification to the new address, not the old one. You must know the current Roblox account password. Roblox Support states, “You must know the account password to change the email address.” (Roblox Support)
- Open Roblox Settings in a browser or the mobile app.
- Select Account Info.
- Select Update Email.
- Enter the new email address and your current Roblox password.
- Open the verification message sent to the new address and follow its instructions.
Roblox says an alert about the change will be sent to the previous email address. You do not need access to that inbox for the standard update, but you do need access to the new one.
If you cannot sign in
On the Roblox login page, choose Forgot Password or Username? and try recovery using an email address or phone number already attached to the account. For phone recovery, Roblox sends a six-digit code. If neither an email nor phone number is attached, Roblox says self-service password reset is unavailable and directs you to Customer Support. Roblox requires account-ownership verification before it can reset an account or change its information, so a support request is not a guaranteed way to change the email. If 2-Step Verification blocks recovery
A password reset and a 2-Step Verification prompt are separate hurdles: recovering the password may not be enough if Roblox still asks for a code. Try another method already configured for the account, such as a backup code or another offered verification method. Roblox says users who lose access to their primary 2-Step Verification method may need two different verification methods recorded in their account details. Possible options include a phone number, passkey, or saved backup codes; availability and age requirements vary. If none of the offered methods works, contact Roblox Customer Support. (2-Step Verification recovery; Troubleshooting 2-Step Verification)
Roblox says email 2-Step Verification codes expire after 15 minutes. If a code is expired, request a new one rather than continuing to use it. Phone verification is available only in select countries, so the phone field may not appear where that option is unavailable. Roblox describes a parent’s verified recovery email as an option for users under 13. (Email and phone verification)

Which route should you take?
| Situation | Next step |
|---|---|
| You are signed in, know the current password, and can access a new email address | Use Settings > Account Info > Update Email, then verify the new address. |
| You are signed out, and an email or phone number is attached to the account | Try Forgot Password or Username? with that existing recovery contact. |
| You are signed out, with no email or phone number attached | Contact Roblox Customer Support and be prepared to verify ownership. |
| A 2-Step Verification prompt prevents sign-in | Try another configured verification method or saved backup code; contact Support if none works. |
Protect access after the change
After you regain access, confirm the account has a current recovery email or phone number and keep any backup codes somewhere secure. Roblox lists physical security keys, including YubiKey 5, as one possible 2-Step Verification method; a key can help protect an account but does not change its email or bypass recovery checks.
