Set the document language to ta, write the share title and description for the Tamil page, and choose an Open Graph locale that reflects its intended territory. Then inspect the deployed HTML and refresh each platform’s preview if it has cached older metadata.
Use page-level metadata for every Tamil page
Open Graph metadata tells social services which title, description, URL, and image to associate with a page. The image must already exist at a URL that the service can fetch; adding a tag does not create the image. The Open Graph specification describes the protocol as enabling web pages to become rich objects in a social graph: Open Graph protocol.
Start with this HTML in the document head, replacing the example values with the page’s real content and asset URL:
<html lang="ta">
<head>
<title>தமிழ் பக்கத் தலைப்பு</title>
<meta property="og:type" content="article">
<meta property="og:title" content="தமிழ் பக்கத் தலைப்பு">
<meta property="og:description" content="இந்தப் பக்கத்தைப் பற்றிய சுருக்கமான விளக்கம்.">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/ta/article/">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/images/ta-article-share.jpg">
<meta property="og:image:alt" content="பக்கத்தின் உள்ளடக்கத்தை பிரதிபலிக்கும் படம்">
<meta property="og:locale" content="ta_IN">
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">
</head>
</html>
The example locale ta_IN suits an India-localized Tamil page; it is not the default for every Tamil audience. The HTML language tag and Open Graph locale serve different purposes: lang="ta" identifies the page’s language, while og:locale identifies a language-and-territory locale. The IANA language registry lists ta for Tamil; HTML requires a valid BCP 47 language tag. See the IANA Language Subtag Registry and the HTML Standard’s language attribute.

Make the tags unique for each route
Use the page’s own Tamil title and description, canonical URL, and share-image URL. A shared layout or component is useful, but it should populate metadata from each route’s data rather than repeat the same values site-wide. For a site with separate Tamil and English pages, render each page’s metadata from its own content and canonical URL.
og:title: the title intended to appear in the share preview.og:description: a concise description of that particular page.og:url: the page’s canonical public URL.og:image: the public URL of the image selected for that page.og:image:alt: a useful description of what the image depicts.
Netlify documents shared-layout approaches, and Webflow supports per-page and dynamic collection metadata. The right choice depends on your publishing setup: use a shared template when it reliably emits unique metadata per route, or CMS-native fields when editors need to maintain values individually. In either case, check the rendered head for duplicate tags that could compete with the intended values.

Choose and serve a suitable image
Select an image relevant to the page rather than relying on a generic site logo. If you also want the asset to serve as a Google image preview, Google advises against generic images and images containing text; Google chooses images automatically, so an Open Graph image can influence but cannot guarantee its selection. See Google’s image guidance.
Make the asset publicly accessible and set og:image to its full URL. Open Graph says a page specifying og:image should also specify og:image:alt. You can optionally include og:image:width, og:image:height, and og:image:type when those values are known.

Dimensions and file format
No single image dimension guarantees identical rendering on every service. Netlify gives 1200×630 pixels as a practical recommended example. Webflow reports Facebook guidance of at least 1080 pixels wide and recommends consistent dimensions across a site. Treat these as platform guidance, not universal Open Graph requirements; check the current guidance for the services your audience uses.
Webflow’s asset picker supports JPG and PNG, and its help page notes that WebP is supported by many popular social platforms but support can vary. If broad compatibility matters, choose a commonly supported raster format and verify the preview on your target platforms. See Netlify’s Open Graph instructions and Webflow’s Open Graph settings guide.

Check the deployed page and platform preview
- Deploy the page, then inspect the served HTML source or rendered document head. Confirm that the title, description, canonical URL, image URL, language, and locale match the page.
- Check that the image URL is publicly fetchable and returns the intended image, not a login page, error, or blocked resource.
- Look for duplicate Open Graph tags generated by both the CMS and a shared template; remove the duplication or ensure the intended values are emitted once.
- Use the preview or scrape-refresh tool for each relevant service. Webflow documents Meta’s debugger, LinkedIn’s Post Inspector, and X’s Card Validator. Platform tools and behavior may change, so follow the current instructions displayed by each service.
Preview results can differ because each social service consumes and caches page data independently. A successful preview on one service does not establish that another service will render the same way.
Troubleshoot missing or stale previews
- The preview has a title but no image: verify that
og:imagepoints to the actual public file and that its format is accepted by the target service. If the page was shared before the image was available, use the platform’s re-scrape or refresh tool. - An old image remains visible: request a fresh scrape in the relevant service’s debugger or inspector. Webflow documents a refresh action in Meta’s debugger and re-scraping in LinkedIn’s Post Inspector.
- Another page’s title or image appears: check that this route outputs its own canonical URL and page-specific values; remove duplicate metadata emitted by both the CMS and template.
- Services show different layouts or images: treat each platform as a separate consumer. Recheck with that service’s current preview tool and consult its guidance for the formats and image treatment it supports.
- Google displays another image: Google selects images automatically and may use several sources. An
og:imagevalue may influence its choice but cannot force a particular result.

If you need a rendered screenshot of a page while checking its deployed appearance, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. This does not replace social metadata or the platform’s own preview tools; it gives you a way to capture the page itself. Its API accepts a URL in one GET request. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

Before capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and whether it was billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should every Tamil page use og:locale value ta_IN?
No. Use a language-and-territory value that matches the page’s intended localized audience; ta_IN is an India-oriented example.
Will setting og:image force Google to show that image?
No. Google selects images automatically from available sources; the tag may influence the choice but does not guarantee it.
