Microsoft’s September 19, 2024 update said Copilot-impact survey results from Viva Glint and Viva Pulse would appear in the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard’s Impact tab. The dashboard can also launch a Pulse Copilot-impact survey. Only surveys using Microsoft’s Copilot impact template are included; Glint results require an administrator to select a program for Viva Insights sharing.

What the September 19, 2024 update changed

Microsoft message-center item MC871005 announced that Viva Insights would bring eligible Viva Glint and Viva Pulse survey results into the Copilot Dashboard. The dashboard combines those employee sentiment results with Copilot usage information from Viva Insights, giving organizations a way to consider reported impact alongside adoption data. It does not make every Glint or Pulse survey visible: only surveys based on the Microsoft Copilot impact template are displayed. Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 412358 is associated with the update.

The September 19 revision changed the worldwide general-availability estimate to late September 2024 through early October 2024, replacing the earlier early-September-to-mid-September estimate. This is the rollout window stated in that historical notice, not a current availability guarantee. Microsoft message center: MC871005

How to see Pulse and Glint results

Start a Pulse survey from the dashboard

  1. Open the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard and go to the Impact tab. You need access to the dashboard.
  2. Select Start Pulse survey to launch a Copilot-impact Pulse survey.
  3. Use the Microsoft Copilot impact template. Results from other survey templates are not included in this integration.
  4. After responses are available and privacy controls permit reporting, view the eligible results in the Impact tab. Dashboard results can be filtered by attributes.

Microsoft’s documentation says Pulse results using the Copilot impact template are automatically shared to the dashboard when the user has a qualifying subscription path that includes Microsoft Copilot. Other listed qualifying paths are Viva Suite, Viva Workplace Analytics and Employee Feedback, and Viva Glint. See Microsoft Learn’s Copilot Dashboard documentation for the documented access and integration details.

Make Glint results available

  1. Ask a Viva Glint administrator to select the relevant program for sharing with Viva Insights.
  2. Confirm that the program uses the Microsoft Copilot impact template.
  3. Once the export condition is met, eligible Glint results can appear in the Copilot Dashboard, subject to dashboard access and applicable privacy thresholds.

Unlike the dashboard-initiated Pulse workflow, Glint visibility depends on an administrator selecting the program to send to Viva Insights. The integration distinguishes organization-wide Glint people analytics from Pulse’s more localized, rapid manager feedback. Microsoft describes both products’ roles in its Inside Track account of using Glint, Pulse, and Viva Insights to measure Copilot adoption.

Licensing, access, and privacy requirements

Microsoft’s 2024 Copilot Dashboard announcement said the dashboard was available to Microsoft 365 Copilot customers at no additional cost and without a Viva license. That dashboard access statement does not mean every survey product or workflow is enabled for every tenant: Pulse or Glint must be enabled as applicable, the user needs Copilot Dashboard access, and survey sharing follows product and administrator settings. The announcement also referred to pre-built Glint and Pulse templates for sentiment collection. Microsoft’s Copilot Dashboard announcement

Microsoft Learn lists Viva Suite, Viva Workplace Analytics and Employee Feedback, Viva Glint, or Microsoft Copilot as qualifying subscription paths for the Pulse integration. If using the Copilot subscription path, Pulse results based on the Copilot impact template are automatically shared to the dashboard. Product enablement and dashboard permissions still matter, so subscription eligibility alone does not guarantee a particular user can see results.

Privacy thresholds configured by Viva Insights or survey administrators continue to apply. The cited announcement and documentation do not specify a single universal minimum respondent count; the threshold is governed by the applicable tenant or survey configuration. Small groups may therefore have results withheld or filtered to protect respondent privacy.

Why survey results may not appear

  • The survey uses the wrong template: the integration displays only results from the Microsoft Copilot impact template.
  • Glint sharing was not configured: a Viva Glint administrator must select the program to send to Viva Insights.
  • The product is not enabled: Viva Pulse or Viva Glint must be enabled for the workflow being used.
  • You lack dashboard access: check whether your account can open the Copilot Dashboard and its Impact tab.
  • Privacy controls suppress the result: administrator-configured thresholds may prevent reporting for a group with too few responses.
  • The rollout timing is being mistaken for a current status: the September 2024 notice gave a historical worldwide target window; consult Microsoft’s current product documentation or your tenant administrator for present availability.

How Glint, Pulse, and Viva Insights fit together

Component Role in Copilot measurement Dashboard workflow
Viva Glint Organization-wide employee sentiment and people analytics A Glint administrator selects the Copilot-impact program to share with Viva Insights.
Viva Pulse Rapid, localized feedback, often for managers A user can start a Copilot-impact survey from the dashboard; qualifying template results can be shared.
Viva Insights Copilot usage and adoption signals, alongside eligible sentiment results Connects the survey results with usage information presented in the Copilot Dashboard.

Microsoft’s Microsoft 365 Copilot Implementation Measurement Playbook presents Glint, Pulse, and Viva Insights as parts of a combined measurement approach. Survey sentiment and usage metrics answer different questions: usage can show how Copilot is being adopted, while surveys capture employees’ reported experiences and perceived impact. Neither should be treated as a substitute for the other.
