What is Gaming Copilot?
Gaming Copilot was presented as software, not as a new console or required gaming accessory. Xbox introduced it as an in-game assistant in Windows PC Game Bar, with a companion experience planned for—and later reported in—the Xbox mobile app.
Xbox first described the feature publicly on August 6, 2025, when it entered beta for Xbox Insiders enrolled in the PC Gaming Preview. The assistant included Voice Mode and screen-aware context, allowing players to ask about events or subjects visible during gameplay.

Does Gaming Copilot work on mobile?
Xbox said it planned to bring Gaming Copilot to the Xbox mobile app in October 2025. An Xbox update dated November 25, 2025, reported that Gaming Copilot beta was available in the mobile app. In that form, it functioned as a mobile companion rather than a replacement for the PC Game Bar integration.

Do you need a ROG Xbox Ally to use Gaming Copilot?
No requirement for a ROG Xbox Ally was established. Xbox discussed the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X as handhelds for which it would continue exploring and optimizing Gaming Copilot. That wording identifies future optimization targets, not devices that players must own to access the feature.
The announcements likewise do not establish a need for a particular controller, headset, microphone, or other dedicated accessory.

What is known about availability now?
The official material cited for this explainer documents the 2025 beta and rollout announcements. The reviewed 2026 Xbox communications and leadership page does not provide a current Gaming Copilot status or an end-of-life decision. Therefore, those sources cannot confirm that the feature is still available—or that it has been discontinued—on September 27, 2026.
