ASUS has announced two ProArt models for an IFA showcase, while HP has announced two OmniBooks without publishing retail dates or prices in the reviewed announcements. Treat the four ASUS and HP laptops as candidates to watch—not confirmed imminent purchases—and wait for regional pricing and independent reviews before deciding.
Which new laptops are worth watching?
These five models span a mainstream Windows laptop and creator-focused systems built around NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform. Their announcement status and disclosed details differ, so the list is a watchlist rather than a ranking.

What is known about each laptop?
Microsoft Surface Laptop 13-inch (2nd edition)
Microsoft provides the clearest timing: it says the Surface Laptop 13-inch (2nd edition), with Snapdragon X2 Plus, will be available beginning October 13, 2026. Its announcement describes a 13-inch touchscreen, aluminum body, and full-size backlit keyboard. See Microsoft’s Surface announcement for its product details and availability statement.
Microsoft also reports “up to 18% more efficient battery performance” and “over 60% faster graphics” compared with the previous generation. Those are Microsoft’s comparisons, based on tests it says were conducted in September 2026; results vary by configuration. They are not independent battery-life or graphics tests, so use them as claims to verify in reviews rather than guarantees of what every buyer will experience.

ASUS ProArt P16 and ProArt P14
ASUS announced the P16 and P14 for showcase at IFA 2026. Its announcement identifies both as RTX Spark-powered ProArt laptops and specifies battery capacities of 99Wh for the P16 and 90Wh for the P14. Capacity alone does not establish how long either laptop lasts: display, processor, workload, and configuration affect runtime. ASUS’s announcement does not establish a purchase date or price for either model. See ASUS News.
The P16 is the larger model in the pair; the P14 is positioned as the more portable option. The announcement information available here does not establish their weights, complete configurations, or independent performance. Compare those details when ASUS publishes them rather than assuming that a smaller model will meet a particular travel or creative-work requirement.
HP OmniBook Ultra 16 and OmniBook X 14
HP announced both RTX Spark-powered laptops on September 4, 2026. For specified OmniBook Ultra 16 configurations and use conditions, HP claims up to 128GB of unified memory, up to 1 petaflop of FP4 AI performance, and up to 17 hours of battery life. HP also says the laptop can recharge to 50% in approximately 30 minutes. These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results; actual results depend on configuration and use. The announcement does not establish a retail date or price for either the Ultra 16 or the X 14. Details are in HP’s announcement of its RTX Spark-powered PCs.

HP positions the Ultra 16 for AI and creative work and the X 14 for portable use. Wait for configuration-specific specifications and independent reviews if those factors will determine your purchase.
Is it worth waiting for one of these laptops?
It may be worth waiting if one of the announced designs matches your needs and you do not need a laptop before its timing and price are clear. The Surface is the most actionable watchlist pick because Microsoft has stated an October 13, 2026 availability start. For the ASUS and HP models, a showcase or product announcement does not tell you when you can buy one. Check manufacturer or retailer listings in your country before delaying a purchase on the assumption that a model is imminent.
None of the announcements establishes which laptop will be the best value. Before choosing, compare the details that can change the buying decision:

- Portability and battery: Check weight, battery capacity, and independent runtime tests under workloads similar to yours. Capacity and advertised runtime figures are not interchangeable.
- Independent review evidence: Look for performance, thermal behavior, keyboard and display quality, repairability, and warranty coverage for the specific configuration you intend to buy.
Which announced laptops do not fit this list?
Dell’s XPS Googlebook is not a clean fit for an upcoming-laptop list at this cutoff: Dell said it was already available from Best Buy and Google Stores when announced, with Dell.com availability planned for October. Dell listed a $999 starting price. That is Dell’s announced starting price, not confirmation of a particular configuration’s current price or stock. See Dell’s XPS announcement.
Dell also said two Alienware laptop product classes—an ultra-slim gaming laptop and an entry-level laptop—were planned for later in 2026, but its announcement did not name specific models or give exact dates. That is not enough detail to include them as two identifiable laptop picks; Dell’s statement is in its CES 2026 announcement. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop models announced in June 2026 are likewise not upcoming at this cutoff: Microsoft said they were available starting June 16, 2026, in its June Surface announcement.
