Both Zapier and Make offer documented ways to automate website screenshots. Zapier lists GetScreenshot actions for full-site and element captures, plus a separate Screenshot API integration. Make lists GetScreenshot and HTML/CSS to Image integrations, and its HTTP module can call an external screenshot API. The better fit depends on the provider and capture controls you need, how your workflow starts and where the resulting file goes—not on a universal price or performance winner.
What you are comparing
Zapier and Make are workflow automation platforms; the screenshot capture is supplied by an integration or an external service. That distinction matters: options shown for one screenshot provider do not necessarily belong to the automation platform itself or to another provider.
Zapier calls a workflow a Zap. Make describes a scenario as a workflow made up of modules that automate apps and services. In either case, think through the whole path: trigger, capture, then handoff to storage, email, or another app.
Screenshot routes available on each platform
Zapier: GetScreenshot
Zapier’s GetScreenshot listing documents “Take Website Screenshot” and “Take Website Element Screenshot (Advanced).” The full-site action asks for a website URL and a full-page capture setting. Listed controls include width, highlight text, PDF output, extra wait time for longer page loads, custom CSS, and advanced parameters. Element capture requires a selector identifying the element to capture.

Zapier: Screenshot API
Zapier also lists a separate Screenshot API integration. Its listed settings include output format and file type, full-page capture, freshness, delay, load event, width and height, text and HTML extraction, lazy loading, retina, and dark mode. Treat this as a distinct provider route: its settings should not be assumed to exist in the GetScreenshot integration.
Make: direct integrations
Make’s GetScreenshot listing presents a direct capture integration, including custom CSS and PDF output. It describes uses such as scheduled monitoring, captures triggered when a link enters a spreadsheet or database, and sending results to storage or team apps. These are listed capabilities, not a guarantee that a particular workflow is prebuilt or that it will perform a certain way.

Make also lists HTML/CSS to Image, including a “Create a Screenshot of a URL” action and actions for creating images from HTML/CSS and retrieving previously created images. That same listing shows HTTP actions alongside the image modules.
Make: generic HTTP route
Make’s HTTP app documents “Make a request” for calling an API, downloading a webpage, or triggering a webhook, as well as “Download a file” for a URL. This route can connect a scenario to an external screenshot API, but you must configure the provider’s authentication and request fields, interpret its response, and handle the resulting file. The provider’s own charges and limits also apply.

Choose by workflow requirements
| Decision point | What to check |
|---|---|
| Capture action | Confirm the exact integration and action available: full page, selected element, URL-to-image, or an API call. Do not infer that one provider’s controls are available in another integration. |
| Capture behavior | Check whether you need a selector, full-page capture, viewport dimensions, a wait or load-event setting, custom CSS, PDF or image output, lazy loading, or text/HTML extraction. |
| Trigger and workflow shape | Map the trigger (for example, a schedule or a new database row), screenshot action, and any later storage or notification step. Account for the platform’s plan gates and workflow structure. |
| File handoff | Establish whether the provider returns a file, a URL, or another response, and verify that the next app can accept that output in the form provided. |
| Flexibility versus configuration | A direct integration is a sensible starting point when it has the action and controls you need. Make’s HTTP route can reach an API-based provider when a direct integration is not suitable, but requires provider-specific configuration. |
| Cost and usage | Check the current automation plan’s step, task, or execution allowances and the screenshot provider’s charges for your planned frequency. The cited listings do not establish a comparable total-cost winner. |
Plan for the complete automation
Sketch the workflow before choosing the integration. For example, a scheduled monitor might run a capture and save the file; an event-driven flow might start when a URL is added to a sheet and then send the result to a team app. Those destinations are part of the design, not incidental details: a screenshot that is captured but cannot be handed off in the needed form does not complete the job.
In Zapier, verify plan access before building a multi-step chain. The GetScreenshot listing says a Starter plan is needed to create Zaps with three or more steps. A trigger → screenshot → storage or notification flow can reach that threshold, so check the current requirement for the exact workflow you intend to publish.

In Make, decide whether a listed screenshot module provides the required action or whether the API route is warranted. With HTTP, confirm the provider’s authentication method, required parameters, response format, and file-download process before building downstream modules. The integration pages do not establish that any one route is easier, more reliable, or less expensive in every case.
