What is the Yuzuki Chameleon?
The Chameleon is a compact SBC from YuzukiHD. The project identifies its processor as the Allwinner H616, with four Cortex-A53 CPU cores. U-Boot contributor Andre Przywara described it on June 13, 2025, as an open-hardware development board whose form factor resembles Raspberry Pi Model A boards while differing significantly in features. In other words, “Raspberry Pi Model A” is a size comparison, not a claim that this is a Raspberry Pi or that its accessories will fit. The project calls the size “Raspberry Pi A Size,” but the available descriptions do not establish compatibility with Pi cases, HATs, or other add-ons.
What hardware and connections does it have?
The project’s specifications describe the following features:
- Processor: Allwinner H616, with four Cortex-A53 cores.
- Memory and storage: Up to 2 GB RAM and up to 128 GB eMMC, plus a TF-card slot. Actual configurations vary; one documented version has 1 GB DDR3 and 8 GB eMMC.
- USB: Four USB Type-C connectors: three host ports and one OTG port.
- Video: HDMI output listed at up to 4K at 60 Hz. The project also lists video decoding up to 6K; that capability should not be read as a measured performance result for the complete board.
- Networking: An XR829 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip and a 100-Mbit Ethernet interface.
- Expansion and power: A 40-pin GPIO header, fan connector, and AXP313A power solution.
The project presents the GPIO as a basis for expansion projects such as SPI displays, gigabit Ethernet, microphone arrays, CAN, and environmental or motion sensors. Those are possible directions, not proof that a particular accessory is compatible.
How does the Model A shape comparison help?
The comparison gives a rough sense of the board’s compact outline. It does not establish a shared connector layout, mounting-hole pattern, electrical interface, or accessory ecosystem. Before reusing a case, HAT, or other Raspberry Pi part, check its physical dimensions and electrical compatibility against the Chameleon’s own documentation rather than relying on the shape description.

Which memory and storage configuration should you expect?
Do not assume every Chameleon has the maximum memory or eMMC capacity. The project lists maxima of 2 GB RAM and 128 GB eMMC, while one board documentation page specifies a configuration with 1 GB DDR3 and 8 GB eMMC. Confirm the exact RAM and eMMC on the specific unit listing before buying; the model name alone does not settle the configuration.
The board also has a TF/microSD slot, making a microSD card relevant if the firmware route you choose uses removable storage. The available project material does not specify a required capacity, speed class, or compatibility list. Follow the chosen image’s instructions rather than assuming a particular card specification.

What software and firmware options are documented?
The project says it provides Tina Linux, Ubuntu, and Android TV firmware. Its README describes PhoenixSuit for flashing proprietary images and points mainline Linux users to a separate H616 project, whose images can be written with dd. These are documented routes; they are not evidence that a particular image has been independently tested on every configuration.
For proprietary firmware, the README describes a FEL-button/reset-button sequence for entering download mode if PhoenixSuit does not detect the board. Consult the project’s current instructions for the exact sequence and image before flashing; the available description does not establish that every release or configuration follows identical steps.

What to verify before buying or setting it up
- Confirm the unit’s specific RAM and eMMC capacity, rather than assuming the project’s listed maximum.
- Check that the firmware image supports the board and configuration you intend to use, and follow that image’s installation instructions.
- Verify required connectors and accessory compatibility directly; the Pi-like outline does not establish Raspberry Pi add-on compatibility.
- Check the project’s linked seller listing for current stock, price, seller, and shipping to your region. A project link is not confirmation that a listing remains active.
What is—and is not—known about performance?
The project describes H616 video and GPU capabilities, but the available material does not provide named Chameleon benchmarks, independently measured power figures, or comparative performance statistics for the complete board. So the listed video capabilities are specifications, not evidence of measured speed, power consumption, or performance against another SBC.
