If OBS Studio’s Settings > Stream page has no YouTube stream-key box, the leading explanation is that OBS is connected to your YouTube account and is handling the connection through that integration. Disconnecting the account or switching to the manual stream-key option may reveal the field. OBS versions can differ, so check the labels on your screen rather than assuming the installation is broken. The documented steps are not specific to India.
Show the manual stream-key field in OBS
- Open OBS stream settings. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Stream and check that the selected service or destination is YouTube.
- Check the account connection. If OBS shows that a YouTube account is connected but no editable key field, disconnect the account or select Use Stream Key (advanced) if that option appears in your version. OBS supports both account connection and stream-key controls; user reports describe disconnecting the account to reveal the manual field, but this is not a guaranteed fix for every setup.
- Get the intended key from YouTube Studio. In a browser, open YouTube Studio, choose Go Live, then open the Stream tab in Live Control Room. Copy the key for the stream you intend to use. YouTube describes a stream key as a credential that lets the encoder send a feed to the stream.
- Enter the key in OBS. Paste it into the Stream Key field, confirm the YouTube service or server selection, then apply the settings. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses both a stream URL and a stream key; use the values and controls presented for the selected service in your OBS version.
- Test the connection before going live. Start streaming in OBS and wait for the incoming feed or preview in YouTube Live Control Room. Check that the correct stream appears before you click Go live in YouTube. YouTube recommends RTMPS and advises testing an encoder setup.
Choose between account connection and a manual key
Both workflows are supported by OBS. The account-connected workflow avoids entering a key in the manual field, while the manual workflow makes the key editable in OBS. If account authentication works and you do not need to manage a particular key in YouTube Studio, you may not need to switch. If you need to paste or change a specific key, use the manual option.

If the field is still missing or streaming fails
- You do not see the same option names. The installed OBS version and what is currently selected in Settings > Stream affect which controls appear. Confirm the selected service and look for a manual-key option; do not assume a missing box means OBS is damaged.
- The key is rejected or the feed does not arrive. Return to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open Stream, obtain the key for the intended stream, and update OBS. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends obtaining a key in Live Control Room and updating the encoder.
- You want to replace a possibly exposed key. The stream owner or a manager can reset the key from the Live Control Room’s Stream tab. After resetting it, update OBS with the new key; the old value will no longer be the one to use.
- The account sign-in route fails. If OBS is using account integration rather than a manual key and the login workflow fails, YouTube directs users to the third-party software’s support. Switching to a manual key is a separate workflow, not a guarantee that an account-authentication problem is fixed.
- You are troubleshooting from India. The available guidance does not establish a separate India-specific restriction or fix for this OBS interface issue. Start with the same account-connection and manual-key checks.
