One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchA change to your public IP is not documented by YouTube as a standalone reason an RTMP stream disconnects. The change may coincide with an ISP or router reconnect that interrupts the outbound connection, but that cause cannot be confirmed without checking your encoder and connection. Start by reviewing encoder logs and upload stability; do not reset your stream key solely because the IP changed.
Diagnose the disconnect before changing settings
A YouTube stream needs a working outbound connection from the encoder to YouTube. YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. Check what happened at the time of the drop rather than assuming the IP change itself invalidated your credentials.
- Check the encoder. Review its status and logs at the interruption time. Confirm that it is current, local audio and video are healthy, and CPU load is not preventing encoding. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance distinguishes encoder problems from cases where the encoder appears healthy but its outbound connection is failing: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
- Test upload capacity and stability. A download speed result does not show whether your outbound connection can sustain the stream. Compare available upload capacity with the combined bitrate of your stream and other traffic. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom; this is platform guidance, not a guarantee that a stream will survive an interruption. See Streaming tips.
- Check Live Control Room destination settings. Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room and verify the current stream URL and stream key against the encoder configuration. The URL is the destination; the key authorizes the encoder feed. If settings are stale, copy the current values into the encoder. YouTube’s Manage live stream settings explains these settings and key management.
- Verify RTMPS settings if you use RTMPS. Copy the RTMPS URL shown in Live Control Room and confirm that the encoder supports it. For encoder integrations, Google’s RTMPS guidance specifies port 443 and correct TLS/SNI behavior: Delivering Live YouTube Content via RTMPS. YouTube also describes URL selection and connection-timeout checks in Encrypt your stream using RTMPS.
- Ask your ISP about a matching outage or WAN reconnect. If the outbound test shows trouble, contact your provider. Ask whether the interruption coincided with a WAN reconnect or service fault, and whether your plan uses a public or shared/CGNAT address. Indian providers and plans differ; a static IP has not been established as a cure for this kind of outbound session interruption.
Should you reset the stream key after an IP change?
Usually, no. YouTube documents the stream key as encoder configuration and provides reset steps for a compromised key; its guidance does not identify a public-IP change as a reason to reset it. Reset only if you have reason to believe the key was exposed or compromised, or if YouTube’s guidance or your account situation calls for it. Otherwise, first verify that the encoder has the current URL and key.
What to do if the stream will not reconnect
- If encoder logs show a network disconnect, restore the internet connection, check upload stability, and reconnect the encoder using the current destination settings.
- If the encoder reports authentication or destination errors, recheck the URL and key in Live Control Room and the encoder. For RTMPS, also verify the protocol, endpoint, port, and TLS/SNI configuration where applicable.
- If the encoder appears healthy but outbound connectivity fails, follow YouTube’s troubleshooting flow and contact the ISP with the time of the event and test results.
- If the issue recurs whenever the WAN reconnects, record whether the encoder recovers by itself and whether another independent internet connection is available. Those details help determine whether the fault is in the encoder, local network, or provider link.
When multi-WAN bonding may help
For repeated or mission-critical interruptions, a router or system that bonds multiple WAN links is a specialized resilience option. Peplink describes SpeedFusion Hot Failover and bonding as maintaining sessions across multiple links, including live-video use cases. This is the vendor’s description of its technology, not an independent guarantee that every router or configuration will preserve a YouTube stream.

- PoE Supported: All lengths of ethernet cord can support the PoE power supply function except 65ft. You don't need additional power supply when installing a PoE camera, which is very convenient and safe
- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
Before buying, verify the specific model’s capabilities, configuration and any required service, availability in your location, total equipment and recurring costs, and whether the setup can maintain the outbound session to YouTube. Ordinary failover can still interrupt a session. A second connection should be genuinely independent enough to remain useful if the primary link fails. See Peplink’s descriptions of SpeedFusion VPN and SpeedFusion Bonding & Failover Technology.
