YouTube assesses the channel’s content and looks for meaningful original contribution or added value; it does not publish a 24/7-specific approval threshold or guarantee.
Does reused content apply to 24/7 live streams?
Yes. YouTube’s monetization policy says that “video” includes Shorts, long-form videos, and live streaming. That makes live streams part of the same policy framework as other channel videos. The published guidance does not set a special rule based on a stream’s duration or say that broadcasting continuously is, by itself, grounds for approval or rejection. YouTube’s channel monetization policies are the controlling reference.
The relevant question is what the channel publishes and what original value it adds—not simply whether the content is streamed live or looped around the clock.
What YouTube means by reused content
YouTube describes reused content as material already available on YouTube or another online source that is republished without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Minimal edits or a new live-stream wrapper do not necessarily make someone else’s material meaningfully original.

This is a monetization standard, not a finding about copyright ownership. YouTube says the reused-content policy applies even when the creator has permission from the original creator. Permission, a license, or the absence of a copyright claim does not, by itself, establish that a channel meets YouTube Partner Program (YPP) monetization requirements. How to assess the material in your stream
For a continuous stream that combines different types of material, assess each segment and the channel as a whole. YouTube’s examples illustrate the distinction but do not guarantee a particular review outcome.

YouTube lists reaction videos with commentary and edited material from other creators with added storyline or commentary as examples that may be allowed. Clips with little or no narrative, compilations, and material copied with minimal changes are examples of risk. Those examples are not a checklist or safe harbor: the policy describes a channel-level review, and reviewers may consider its theme, popular and recent videos, watch-time share, metadata, and About section. The listed signals are examples, not an exhaustive formula. Read the policy and examples.
Permission, copyright, and monetization are separate questions
Creators often treat these as one issue, but they are distinct:

- Do you have the right to use the material? That depends on ownership, licenses, permissions, and other applicable rules. A monetization-policy assessment does not settle those rights.
- Does the channel meet the reused-content standard? Permission alone is not enough. The channel still needs to show significant original contribution or meaningful added value.
- Can the channel earn revenue from live streams? It must qualify for and be accepted into YPP, remain compliant with monetization policies, and complete the setup required for the relevant revenue type.
Passing one of these tests does not automatically satisfy the others. YouTube’s guidance on reused content distinguishes the monetization policy from copyright enforcement.
How to make your contribution clear
There is no published minimum number of commentary minutes, edits, or original segments that guarantees approval. YouTube’s policy describes general standards, not a transformation formula or 24/7-specific safe harbor. A practical approach is to make authorship and added value apparent in both the stream and the channel presentation:

- Use material you created where possible, and keep records of rights for material you did not create.
- Add meaningful narration, explanation, context, or other creator participation where it genuinely improves the viewer’s experience.
- Describe what you contribute in the stream title, description, and channel About section without implying that permission alone makes a stream monetizable.
- Review the channel’s newest and most-viewed videos as well as the continuous stream; a single original segment may not represent the overall channel pattern.
These steps apply the policy’s stated principles; they cannot guarantee how YouTube will review a particular channel.

Monetizing an eligible live stream
Being accepted into YPP and complying with channel monetization policies are separate from enabling the relevant revenue features. For Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue from live streams, eligible partners must accept YouTube’s Watch Page Monetization Module. Accepting the module is a setup step; it does not replace policy compliance or guarantee that reused content qualifies. Consult YouTube’s partner monetization overview and channel monetization policies for current requirements.
