What happened to the Windows 11 tutorials?
ExtremeTech reported on November 3, 2025, that YouTube removed two videos from CyberCPU Tech, a channel with about 300,000 subscribers at the time. One video covered completing Windows 11 setup without a Microsoft account; the other covered installing Windows 11 on hardware Microsoft does not officially support. The notices reportedly classified both videos under YouTube’s “Harmful or dangerous content” policy, with one strike covering the two removals.
According to the report, channel owner Rich said the tutorials did not include piracy, hacking, or payment bypasses. He appealed, and the appeals were denied; he said one decision came in less than a minute. Those details come from the creator’s account as reported by ExtremeTech. YouTube had not publicly explained this case in the cited coverage.
Did Microsoft ask YouTube to take the videos down?
That has not been established. Rich initially suspected automated moderation and later wondered whether Microsoft had influenced the decision. The reporting offers no evidence that Microsoft contacted YouTube, requested the removals, or coordinated with the platform. It is therefore accurate to describe Microsoft’s alleged involvement as the creator’s unsubstantiated suspicion—not as the reason YouTube removed the videos.

Why did YouTube cite its harmful-content policy?
YouTube’s published harmful-or-dangerous-content policy says it does not allow content that “encourages dangerous or illegal activities that risk serious physical harm or death.” The policy also says educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic context may matter. The tutorials concerned Windows installation choices, but the reported notices do not explain which part of either video YouTube considered to violate the rule or how it assessed their context.
The policy text and the limited public explanation leave an important distinction: the removal notices show which policy YouTube invoked, but they do not establish that the videos encouraged serious physical harm, nor do they reveal YouTube’s case-specific reasoning. The cited reporting does not include a public YouTube statement resolving that question.

What Windows 11 setup choices did the videos address?
Setting up without a Microsoft account
Microsoft’s stated requirement is specific to Windows 11 Home: an internet connection and a Microsoft Account are required to complete first-use setup. Community or technician methods for reaching a local account or working through setup offline are not the same as Microsoft-supported setup procedures. The report describes the removed video as covering such a local-account or offline setup workflow; it does not establish which exact technique the video showed.
Installing on unsupported hardware
Microsoft’s minimum requirements include a compatible 64-bit processor running at 1 GHz or faster with at least two cores, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, UEFI firmware capable of Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, and compatible DirectX 12 graphics. A computer that does not meet Microsoft’s requirements is outside its officially supported hardware baseline. Workarounds discussed in connection with these tutorials—such as modified installation media, unattended answer files, registry edits, or historical command-line shortcuts—are community or technician techniques, not Microsoft-supported procedures.

What does a YouTube strike mean for a channel?
YouTube’s strike guidance says content can be flagged by users or smart detection technology and reviewed by YouTube teams. That describes possible routes into enforcement generally; it does not identify how the CyberCPU Tech videos were flagged or reviewed.
- A creator may appeal a strike once. YouTube’s stated appeal window is normally six months for a warning or strike; a content removal can be appealed for up to one year.
- A first strike restricts uploading and livestreaming for one week, according to YouTube’s guidance.
- Three strikes within 90 days may lead to channel termination.
These are YouTube’s published rules, not evidence that every step or consequence was applied in precisely the same way in this case. The ExtremeTech report says one strike covered both videos and that the creator’s appeals were denied.

What viewers and creators can conclude
For viewers, the removals show that tutorials about local-account setup and unsupported hardware can be subject to platform enforcement; they do not show that Microsoft ordered the removals or that YouTube publicly demonstrated a serious-harm violation. For creators, YouTube’s appeal process offers a formal route to challenge a strike, but its published guidance does not guarantee a particular outcome.
