Choose Deezer if your main goal is to reduce fully AI-generated songs in recommendations. Deezer says it tags albums containing entirely AI-generated tracks and removes those tracks from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. Choose YouTube Music if you value the widest discovery range—official songs, live performances, videos, remixes, podcasts and obscure recordings—and can treat its new AI labels as disclosure rather than a blocking tool. Neither service can certify that every remaining recording was made entirely by humans.

The practical verdict

The two services solve different parts of the human-made-music problem. Deezer has the clearer documented control: its detection system targets music that is 100% AI-generated, labels affected albums and excludes those tracks from recommendation surfaces. YouTube Music has begun labeling songs created primarily with generative AI, but its announcement does not describe a setting that removes labeled tracks from every recommendation, playlist or search result.

If your priority is… Better fit Why
Minimizing fully synthetic songs in recommendations Deezer Deezer says fully AI-generated tracks are excluded from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists.
Seeing whether a track used substantial generative AI YouTube Music Labels appear directly on the player when YouTube identifies significant generative-AI use.
Finding live sets, music videos, remixes and rare recordings YouTube Music YouTube documents more than 100 million official songs plus a broad range of video and hard-to-find material.
Lossless listening and a published anti-AI recommendation policy Deezer Deezer describes a lossless HiFi offering and a specific exclusion policy for fully synthetic tracks.

This is a policy comparison, not a claim that Deezer has a higher percentage of human-made music in every listener’s feed. No independent, controlled head-to-head test has established such a percentage.

What “human-made” can mean

“Human-made” is not a binary category. A singer may write and perform every part of a song but use an AI-assisted mastering tool. A producer may generate a short texture, replace it with a played instrument and keep the rest of the arrangement human. Another track may have AI-generated composition, vocals and instrumentation with little or no human performance.

Deezer’s published detector is aimed at the last category: music it classifies as fully AI-generated. Its exclusion policy therefore reduces exposure to completely synthetic tracks, but it does not certify that every recommended recording contains only human-created sounds. YouTube Music’s label is broader in a different way: YouTube says a label can appear when generative AI played a significant role, including cases in which a model created composition and vocals. A labeled song is not necessarily 100% synthetic, and an unlabeled song is not proof that no AI tool was used.

  • Fully synthetic: the composition, vocal and instrumental content are generated by models with no meaningful human performance. This is the category Deezer says it detects and removes from recommendation surfaces.
  • AI-assisted: a person writes, performs or edits music while using generative tools for one or more elements. YouTube’s significant-use label is intended to disclose some of these cases.
  • Human performance with conventional software: recording, editing, tuning, effects and mastering can all use non-generative digital tools without making the performance AI-generated.

If your personal rule is “no fully generated tracks,” Deezer’s documented policy is the closest match. If your rule is “I want to know whenever generative AI played a major role,” YouTube Music’s player labels are useful, but they are not a complete guarantee.

How Deezer handles AI-generated music

Detection and album labels

Deezer announced on January 24, 2025 that its detection tool was finding roughly 10,000 fully AI-generated tracks each day, described at the time as about 10% of daily delivery. In a June 20, 2025 newsroom update, Deezer said 18% of daily uploads—more than 20,000 tracks—were 100% AI-generated. The company also said fully AI-generated music accounted for approximately 0.5% of streams and that up to 70% of streams generated by those tracks were fraudulent.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

On September 11, 2025, Deezer reported a higher flow: more than 30,000 fully AI-generated tracks every day and over 28% of total daily delivery. These figures are Deezer’s own measurements at different dates and use different denominators—daily uploads, delivery and streams—so they should not be combined into a single trend line or interpreted as the share of music you personally hear.

The June announcement says Deezer’s system clearly displays an AI tag on albums containing fully AI-generated tracks. The tag is an identification aid when you open an album or inspect its metadata; it is not a certification that every untagged release was made entirely by people.

Exclusion from recommendations

Deezer says all 100% AI-generated songs are automatically removed from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. The September 2025 update repeats that policy. In practical terms, a fully synthetic track should not be selected by Deezer’s personalized recommendation systems or placed in a Deezer-curated editorial playlist once the system has classified it.

That policy does not remove every possible route by which you could encounter synthetic audio. A track could be newly uploaded and not yet classified, appear in a user-created playlist, be found through a direct search or be misclassified. Deezer’s detector is focused on fully AI-generated music, so mixed human/AI productions may remain available.

What Deezer’s figures do—and do not—show

The changing company-reported numbers show why an AI-avoidance policy matters operationally. Deezer reported approximately 10,000 detected tracks per day in January 2025, over 20,000 in June and over 30,000 in September. Upload volume and delivery volume can rise quickly even when listening remains a small share; Deezer’s June estimate of approximately 0.5% of streams illustrates that distinction.

Deezer also reported that up to 70% of streams from fully AI-generated tracks were fraudulent. That is a statement about the streams Deezer analyzed, not a claim that 70% of all music streams on the service are fraudulent or AI-generated.

A sensible Deezer listening workflow

  1. Check album information before saving it. When an album page displays Deezer’s AI tag, treat it as containing one or more fully AI-generated tracks and skip it if your rule is to avoid fully synthetic releases.
  2. Use Deezer recommendations with the policy in mind. Flow, mixes and editorial playlists are still not a guarantee of human-only music, but Deezer says fully AI-generated tracks are excluded from those recommendation channels.
  3. Prefer identifiable artists and releases. Follow artists with verifiable discographies, credits and live activity when provenance matters to you. This is a personal screening method, not a Deezer certification.
  4. Remember the scope. Deezer’s stated exclusion covers 100% AI-generated tracks. It does not promise to remove every song that used an AI-assisted effect, mastering service or isolated generated element.

How YouTube Music labels AI use

Labels on the player

In an October 14, 2026 announcement, YouTube said YouTube Music was rolling out labels when a song was created primarily using generative AI. The examples include cases in which a generative model created the composition and vocals. Labels are shown directly on the player, and YouTube says it uses information from music partners together with its own detection tools.

The label improves transparency at the moment you listen. It tells you that YouTube has identified significant generative-AI involvement, rather than asking you to infer provenance from an unfamiliar artist name or a synthetic-sounding vocal. The announcement does not promise a universal “hide AI music” switch, automatic removal from all personalized radios or exclusion from every editorial playlist.

What an unlabeled track means

An absent label should be read as “no label was shown,” not “verified human-made.” Detection can be incomplete, partner metadata can arrive later and AI may have been used in a limited way that does not meet the labeling threshold. YouTube’s approach is disclosure, not a guarantee that all unmarked music was written, performed and produced without generative tools.

YouTube Music’s discovery advantage

YouTube’s product overview describes more than 100 million official songs. The service also combines audio releases with live performances, music videos, remixes, podcasts and hard-to-find recordings. That breadth is valuable if “human-made” means discovering real performances and scenes rather than only filtering synthetic tracks: a concert recording, an archival upload or a fan-circulated rarity may be easier to find on YouTube’s ecosystem than on a conventional audio catalog.

The trade-off is a larger and more varied pool of uploads and formats. Discovery can lead to official releases, user-uploaded performances, alternate edits and synthetic experiments in the same session. The player label helps when YouTube has identified generative-AI use, but it does not turn the entire catalog into a verified human-only collection.

Samples, radios and Ask Music

The Samples feed provides short-form previews designed for rapid discovery. YouTube Music also offers customizable radios in which you can tune mood, discovery level, familiarity, popularity and the inclusion of deep cuts. These controls let you reduce novelty or increase known artists, but none is documented as an AI filter.

Ask Music is YouTube Music’s generative-AI companion for creating custom radio mixes and playlists from voice or text prompts. It requires YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium, works on mobile and is available only in the countries listed by YouTube. You can use a prompt such as “acoustic live recordings from established singer-songwriters,” but the resulting mix remains a discovery aid, not a promise that every track is human-made. Review the player label as you listen.

A cautious YouTube Music workflow

  1. Play the track and inspect the player. When a generative-AI label appears, decide whether the stated level of AI use fits your listening rule before adding the song to a library or playlist.
  2. Use artist and release context. Official artist pages, album credits and live versions provide more provenance clues than an isolated recommendation, although they still do not prove that no AI assistance was used.
  3. Tune radios toward familiarity when provenance is more important than novelty. Lower discovery and favor familiar or popular material to reduce exposure to unknown uploads; this changes recommendation behavior, not the underlying AI policy.
  4. Treat Samples and Ask Music as exploration tools. They are useful for finding performers and styles quickly, but neither is an AI-exclusion mode.

Which service should you choose?

Choose Deezer when minimizing synthetic recommendations is the priority

Deezer is the stronger choice for a listener who wants a documented mechanism to reduce fully AI-generated recommendations. Its album tags give you a visible warning, and its stated exclusion from algorithmic and editorial recommendations addresses the place most listeners discover new music. The policy is especially relevant if you do not want to inspect every unfamiliar track manually.

Keep the boundary clear: Deezer does not claim that every remaining song is entirely human-made, and its detector is not described as a universal test for AI assistance. If your definition includes any generative contribution at all, you will still need to evaluate artist credits and your own tolerance for AI-assisted production.

Choose YouTube Music when discovery breadth matters more

YouTube Music is the better fit when your listening revolves around live performances, videos, remixes, podcasts, rare recordings and a very large official catalog. Its player labels add useful context when YouTube identifies substantial generative-AI involvement. The service also gives you more ways to steer exploration through Samples, radio controls and Ask Music.

Select it with the understanding that labeling is not blocking. You may still encounter an AI-generated or AI-assisted track in a radio, playlist, search result or user-uploaded performance, particularly when the system has not identified it or the use falls outside the label’s threshold.

Use both if you have two different listening modes

Some listeners can reasonably keep Deezer for recommendation-led listening and use YouTube Music for archival, live and video discovery. Save tracks discovered on YouTube only after checking the player label and artist context, then maintain a personal playlist of recordings that meet your standard. This arrangement uses Deezer’s documented exclusion where it matters most while preserving YouTube’s broader cultural archive.

How to avoid AI-generated songs on any streaming service

  1. Define your threshold. Decide whether you want to avoid only fully synthetic songs or also tracks with any generative contribution. Services currently describe those categories differently.
  2. Read the service’s actual label. A tag may refer to a fully AI-generated album, significant generative use or another threshold. Do not treat different labels as interchangeable.
  3. Favor recommendation systems with an explicit exclusion policy. Deezer’s published policy is an example. A visible label without a block still requires your own decision.
  4. Inspect credits and artist context. Human writers, performers, producers, session musicians and documented live work are useful signals, but they are not mathematical proof of an AI-free production.
  5. Be cautious with unknown-volume uploads. Sudden releases from unfamiliar artists, generic artwork and minimal credits can justify a closer look, but those clues alone do not establish AI use.
  6. Separate direct search from recommendations. An exclusion policy for algorithmic and editorial recommendations may not cover a song you deliberately search for, a user-created playlist or an external link.
  7. Expect labels and detection to change. Deezer’s reported volumes changed substantially during 2025, and YouTube’s labeling rollout is new as of October 2026. Treat current controls as evolving rather than permanent guarantees.

Audio quality, catalog trade-offs and availability

Deezer’s cited service description includes lossless HiFi audio, which may appeal if sound quality is as important as provenance controls. The available material does not establish that one service has universally better mastering, louder levels or a larger lossless catalog, so those decisions should be based on the specific albums you listen to and the plan offered in your country.

YouTube Music’s advantage is format and context rather than a single audio specification: official audio can sit beside a live performance, a video, a remix or a hard-to-find recording. That makes it particularly useful for following an artist’s human performances, but the same breadth increases the variety of upload sources and therefore the need to check labels and credits.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Deezer says it operates in more than 180 countries. YouTube Music’s Ask Music feature has narrower availability: it requires Premium or Music Premium, is mobile-only and works only in countries listed by YouTube Music Help. A subscription that works in one region may not include the same discovery feature in another, so check the local plan and feature list before choosing a service primarily for Ask Music.

What the evidence can establish

Deezer has published a concrete anti-AI recommendation policy and dated company figures about detection and listening. YouTube has published a player-labeling approach and detailed the breadth of its catalog and discovery tools. Those facts support a practical choice between stronger exclusion and broader exploration.

They do not establish a universal percentage of human-made music for either service. Deezer’s numbers are company-reported snapshots, and YouTube has not published a comparable share of AI-generated tracks in the cited material. Detection errors, delayed metadata, mixed productions and user uploads prevent a guarantee that any catalog is entirely human-made.

For a strict human-made preference, the most defensible approach is therefore layered: choose Deezer for recommendation feeds, use visible labels wherever available, inspect credits for important discoveries and keep your own shortlist of recordings that meet your definition.
