If a YouTube Live stream looks blurry on JioFiber, first open the player’s Settings → Quality menu and select a higher resolution if one is offered. If it keeps dropping back or buffering, check the playback device’s Wi-Fi and available connection speed before assuming the stream’s bitrate or JioFiber is at fault. As a viewer, you can change playback quality; you generally cannot change how the broadcaster encoded the stream.
1. Select a higher quality in the YouTube player
- On a computer, move the pointer over the live video and select the Settings gear.
- Select Quality.
- Choose the highest resolution available that plays smoothly. Not every live stream offers every resolution, so a missing option may reflect the stream’s available formats rather than a JioFiber setting.
If the higher setting buffers or the player switches back to a lower resolution, continue with the checks below. YouTube’s guidance notes that network congestion and other factors can affect live programming and delay the stream. It does not establish that JioFiber is specifically throttling the stream.

2. Check whether the connection can sustain the selected quality
YouTube publishes these approximate sustained-speed recommendations for playback. They are guidance, not a guarantee for a particular live stream, device, or connection; other people and devices using the same network can reduce the capacity available to your playback device.

These figures come from YouTube’s undated playback troubleshooting guidance. A speed result is only a snapshot: the usable speed can vary, and the stream also depends on the device, Wi-Fi path, and delivery conditions.

3. Isolate Wi-Fi and competing network use
- Try the same stream on another device connected to the same JioFiber network. If only one device has trouble, focus first on its Wi-Fi signal, software, or playback rather than concluding the whole connection is at fault.
- Pause large downloads and reduce other heavy network use while testing. Multiple active users can leave less sustained speed for the video.
- Move the playback device closer to the router and reduce walls, obstructions, or sources of interference between them.
- If the device supports Ethernet, compare playback over a wired connection. Jio’s user guide recommends wired connections for streaming videos. If Ethernet helps, that points toward a possible Wi-Fi limitation; it does not by itself prove or fix an ISP-side or YouTube delivery problem.
An Ethernet cable is an optional diagnostic step, not a required purchase. Use a cable and port compatible with your playback device and router.
4. Run JioFiber diagnostics in MyJio
Use the MyJio app’s Run Diagnostics function to check JioFiber network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength, and device connectivity. Jio says the diagnostic can flag issues such as weak Wi-Fi, an offline router, loose cables, speed drops, or configuration errors, and provide suggested troubleshooting steps.

Follow the app’s specific result rather than making unrelated router changes. If diagnostics point to weak Wi-Fi coverage, improving placement or considering compatible coverage equipment may be relevant; if they report another fault, use the app’s recommended route to address it.
5. When to contact Jio support
If the issue persists across devices, test at more than one time and note when it happened, which device and connection type you used, the available YouTube quality options, and any MyJio diagnostic results. Share those details with Jio support. The available official guidance does not confirm a current JioFiber outage, a Jio-specific YouTube bitrate cap, or an account-specific fault, so those should not be assumed without diagnosis.

Why “bitrate fix” can be misleading
Bitrate describes how much video data is delivered over time. A viewer selecting a higher YouTube playback quality is not changing the broadcaster’s encoded bitrate. The player can offer only the formats available for that stream, and playback may fall to a lower resolution when conditions do not sustain a higher one. To change the stream’s encoded bitrate, the broadcaster would need to adjust the streaming setup; that is different from troubleshooting a viewer’s JioFiber connection.
