For a 1080p 60 fps YouTube Live stream, set video bitrate to 12 Mbps for AV1 or H.265, or 17 Mbps for H.264, when your encoder and connection can sustain it. YouTube lists lower minimums—4 Mbps for AV1/H.265 and 6 Mbps for H.264—but those are not the recommended targets. Use CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and AAC or MP3 audio. These are general live-encoder settings: the Hindi language of a playlist does not change them.
Recommended 1080p 60 fps settings
YouTube Help’s live encoder table gives different video bitrate recommendations according to the codec sent to YouTube. The figures below are for live ingestion at 1080p60, not for uploading a prerecorded video. YouTube’s page does not state a publication year; the figures were verified on October 3, 2026.
| Setting | Recommended starting point | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p at 60 fps | YouTube recommends automatic detection by default. Use manual selection only if you need to force a particular resolution. |
| Video bitrate: AV1 or H.265 (HEVC) | 12 Mbps recommended; 4 Mbps minimum | These are YouTube’s listed live-ingestion rates. |
| Video bitrate: H.264 | 17 Mbps recommended; 6 Mbps minimum | These are YouTube’s listed live-ingestion rates. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube recommends constant bitrate encoding. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | Recommended frequency; do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3 | YouTube specifies 128 Kbps for stereo audio and 384 Kbps for 5.1 audio. Over RTMP/RTMPS, 5.1 is supported only with AAC. |
| SDR color | Rec. 709, 8-bit | For standard dynamic range. |
| Ingest protocol | RTMP or RTMPS | YouTube recommends either; RTMPS is the secure extension of RTMP. |
The codec choice should be one your encoder supports reliably. YouTube’s guidance does not establish AV1, H.265, or H.264 as universally best for every device or network. If your encoder sends H.264, use the H.264 row rather than applying the lower AV1/H.265 target.
Set the encoder and connect it to YouTube
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or select the live stream and retrieve its stream key and stream URL. Enter the key in the encoder and use the URL as the destination. Treat the key as a password: if you think it was exposed, reset it in YouTube’s live settings.
- Choose resolution handling. Leave resolution and frame-rate detection on automatic unless you specifically need to force 1080p60. To select a resolution manually, YouTube’s instructions require a custom stream key and the “Turn on manual settings” option under Stream Resolution.
- Configure the video encoder. Select 1080p at 60 fps, the bitrate for the codec you are sending, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval. Keep the interval at or below four seconds.
- Configure audio and color. Use AAC or MP3 audio. For stereo, YouTube specifies 128 Kbps; for 5.1 it specifies 384 Kbps, with AAC required for 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS. For SDR, use Rec. 709 at 8-bit.
- Start a test stream before relying on the playlist. YouTube says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Test with audio and movement similar to the intended stream, then check stream health and any messages in Live Control Room.
Check upload capacity and stream stability
The listed video bitrate is not an upload-speed guarantee. Your available upload bandwidth must carry the total stream bitrate, including audio, with enough stability to avoid congestion. A connection that only intermittently reaches the target can still produce dropped frames or interruptions. Test the actual connection under the conditions in which the stream will run, and watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators during the broadcast.

For those looking to fine-tune image parameters or enhance sound quality, EMEETLINK software is available for advanced customization. Both simplicity and advanced needs can be met effortlessly.
Latency is the delay between capture and playback. YouTube cautions that lower latency can increase viewer buffering, so choose a latency mode in light of whether interaction matters and how reliably the connection performs. The encoder bitrate figures do not, by themselves, determine a suitable latency setting.
Does a Hindi playlist need different settings?
No language-specific encoder variation is given in YouTube’s English or Hindi help guidance. The Hindi encoder page presents the same 1080p60 bitrate figures and the same general codec, keyframe, and CBR recommendations. The useful Hindi search phrasing is “1080p 60fps लाइव स्ट्रीम के लिए कितना बिटरेट रखें?”—the answer depends on the ingest codec, not on whether the playlist is in Hindi.

Playlist sequencing, naming, and content choices are separate from encoder configuration. These technical settings do not determine whether individual videos are eligible for monetization or comply with copyright rules; review YouTube’s applicable policies for the content and rights involved.
Common problems and fixes
- Stream health reports bitrate or connection trouble: confirm the encoder is using the bitrate for its actual codec, then test whether the connection can sustain the total stream bitrate. YouTube’s minimum is not the recommended target; lowering bitrate may help a constrained connection, but it can reduce the delivered picture quality.
- The picture is not arriving at 1080p60: check the encoder’s output and whether automatic detection is active. If you must force resolution, use a custom stream key and enable “Turn on manual settings” under Stream Resolution.
- The stream does not connect: verify that the encoder has the current stream URL and key. If the key may have been compromised, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the replacement.
- Viewers experience buffering: inspect stream health and connection stability. If you chose a lower-latency mode, consider the trade-off YouTube describes: lower latency can mean more buffering.
- Audio layout is unsupported: use AAC for 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS; YouTube’s stated 5.1 support on those protocols does not extend to MP3.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the Hindi playlist is meant to keep a YouTube channel live around the clock, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud rather than relying on a computer or home connection staying on. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It supports uploaded video as-is up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
