1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor a movie source that is already 1080p at 24 fps, send it to YouTube Live as 1920×1080 progressive video at 24 fps, using constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe every 2 seconds. YouTube does not publish a specific bitrate for 1080p at 24 fps: its nearest published H.264 reference is for 1080p at 30 fps, so treat that figure as a starting point and test your actual loop and upload connection.
Recommended encoder settings for a 1080p 24fps loop
Match the stream to the source rather than changing its frame rate without a reason. Use these general YouTube encoder settings for an already prepared 1920×1080, 24 fps movie:
| Setting | Recommended value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and scan | 1920×1080, progressive | Use this when the source is genuinely 1080p. |
| Frame rate | 24 fps | Match the source frame rate. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube’s general encoder guidance specifies constant bitrate. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube says the interval should not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Video codec | H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 | These codecs are listed for YouTube RTMP/RTMPS ingestion; use one supported by your encoder and workflow. |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3 | YouTube’s advanced recommendations list stereo audio at a 44.1 kHz sample rate. |
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS, if supported | YouTube recommends RTMPS. Copy the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. |
These settings are general guidance, not a guarantee of identical picture quality across different movies, encodes, encoders, or internet connections. YouTube transcodes incoming live video into output formats for viewers on different devices and networks.
What bitrate should you use?
YouTube’s published encoder table does not include a 1080p 24 fps row. The closest reference is 1080p at 30 fps: YouTube lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for H.264, and 4 Mbps minimum and 10 Mbps recommended for AV1 or H.265. These are 30 fps figures—not official recommendations for 24 fps. Use them only as an initial reference, then test the actual movie loop and confirm that your upload connection can sustain the chosen bitrate.

Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
A bitrate that is technically within a reference range may still be unsuitable for a particular encode or connection. YouTube recommends running an upload speed test, testing with representative audio and motion, and checking stream health while live. Its guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Configure and test the stream
- Prepare the source. Confirm that the movie file is 1920×1080 progressive at 24 fps if those are the settings you intend to send. Make sure the audio track is present and plays correctly.
- Set the encoder. Choose 1920×1080, 24 fps, CBR, and a 2-second keyframe interval. Select a supported video codec and AAC or MP3 audio. If available, use stereo audio at 44.1 kHz.
- Choose the ingest details in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there. Prefer the RTMPS URL if your encoder supports it; keep the stream key private.
- Decide whether to set resolution manually. YouTube detects resolution and frame rate automatically by default. To choose them manually, create a custom stream key and enable manual settings under Stream Resolution in Live Control Room.
- Test before going live. Run an upload speed test, then test the encoder with the same kind of audio and movement as the movie loop. Check the incoming stream and audio, and monitor stream health during the broadcast.
Codec choice is a compatibility decision, not a proven quality ranking for every 24 fps movie. YouTube’s nearest published 1080p bitrate comparisons are for 30 fps only, so they do not establish which codec will look best for your particular loop.

Clear the movie and soundtrack rights first
Only stream a movie and soundtrack if you have the necessary rights for the use. YouTube’s livestream terms say that the content provider represents and warrants that it has all necessary rights for exploitation of the live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator; if the issue continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. If you have licensed third-party material, YouTube says to ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Without that step, a licensed stream may still be interrupted. Copyright permission and monetization are separate questions
Having permission to show a movie does not by itself make a channel or stream eligible for monetization. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and define reused content as material repurposed without significant original commentary, substantive modifications, or educational or entertainment value. The reused-content policy is separate from copyright enforcement and may apply even when you have permission to use the material. Do not assume that owning or licensing a movie guarantees YouTube Partner Program monetization. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

If the goal is to keep a prepared video looping on YouTube around the clock, the do-it-yourself approach is to configure an encoder with the settings above, send the stream using the URL and key from Live Control Room, and keep the computer and connection running while it broadcasts. That method gives you direct control, but the stream depends on your local setup staying available.
