YouTube’s Live Control Room is where you create or schedule a stream and connect an encoder. The encoder supplies the video feed; Control Room provides the YouTube stream URL and key, shows the incoming preview, and lets you start and monitor the broadcast. YouTube describes an encoder as converting video into a digital format for streaming. The documented workflow does not describe Control Room itself as a prerecorded-video playlist or looping engine. StreamYard: a scheduled prerecorded broadcast with a defined end
StreamYard’s help page says a scheduled prerecorded stream starts automatically at its selected time and ends when the video finishes. Its documented maximum length is 2 hours on Core, 4 hours on Advanced, and 8 hours on Team and StreamYard Business. These are limits per prerecorded video, not a documented continuous 24/7 looping schedule. Check StreamYard’s current help page for plan details, since plan names and limits can change.

How to run a YouTube stream through Live Control Room
This is the documented encoder workflow. It can keep a prerecorded feed on air only while your encoder continues sending it; the Control Room is not a substitute for the computer or other source running that encoder.
- Create the stream: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a live stream. Use Manage if you want to schedule it.
- Configure your encoder: Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into your encoder. Treat the key like a password; do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast on your channel.
- Set the video source: Choose the prerecorded video or playlist in the encoder. For a continuous broadcast, configure the source to keep sending content rather than ending after one video; YouTube’s cited workflow does not prescribe a particular looping encoder or its settings.
- Start sending: Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room.
- Go live and monitor: Click Go live once the preview is ready. Keep the encoder and its connection running, and monitor the stream for interruptions.
- End deliberately: In Live Control Room, end the stream and stop sending content from the encoder.
YouTube’s cited encoder instructions do not specify a universal bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe interval for this comparison. Use settings appropriate to your source and encoder, and consult YouTube’s current encoder guidance rather than relying on a guessed preset.

What to know about StreamYard’s scheduled prerecorded option
Use StreamYard when the goal is a prerecorded broadcast that begins at a chosen time and finishes with the selected video—not when you need a verified all-day loop. Before subscribing, confirm the current plan maximum accommodates the full video and review the plan’s current scheduling allowance on StreamYard’s help page.
StreamYard says scheduled prerecorded broadcasts are no longer automatically saved to its library. That does not mean the source recording disappears everywhere: distinguish StreamYard’s own library from an archive at the destination platform, and make a separate backup if preserving the program matters.

Archive planning for streams over 12 hours
YouTube warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A single 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay. YouTube recommends recording a local archive as a backup. If you need a replay, keep an independent recording and plan how to divide or transition the live sessions; test the archive workflow before relying on it. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
Rights still apply when prerecorded content is broadcast live
Broadcasting a recording as a live stream does not remove copyright obligations. YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for the live content, including applicable music licensing rights, and require compliance with Community Guidelines.
