Xbox Cloud Gaming is planned for select internet-connected vehicles that use LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP). Passengers will be able to launch the Xbox app through the vehicle’s infotainment system, but the September 9, 2025 announcement did not name supported makes or models, launch markets, or a firm public release date. That means the partnership does not establish that a particular car—or every LG-equipped vehicle—can play Xbox games.
How Xbox Cloud Gaming in a car is supposed to work
Xbox and LG announced an integration on September 9, 2025. The Xbox app is built into LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform, which runs as part of LG’s software-defined-vehicle ecosystem. In a supported vehicle, passengers use the infotainment system to open the Xbox app and stream games over an internet connection.
Xbox and LG describe this as passenger entertainment, with services operating in compliance with driving-safety regulations. The announcement does not give a universal rule for which displays or vehicle states enable gameplay; those details may depend on the vehicle implementation and local safety requirements.
What you need to play
- A compatible vehicle: It must be a select vehicle equipped with LG webOS Automotive Content Platform and an internet-connected infotainment system with the Xbox app. The announcements do not name supported models.
- A Game Pass account: Xbox’s instructions say to sign in to a Game Pass subscription. The hundreds-of-games catalog is specifically described for Game Pass Ultimate members, so do not assume every subscription tier includes the same cloud catalog.
- A compatible Bluetooth controller: The announcements identify a Bluetooth controller as the required game input.
- Supported internet access: Cloud streaming needs a supported connection. Xbox says an automotive data plan is required for streaming services; the announcements do not specify data allowances, coverage, or pricing.
How to start a game in a supported vehicle
- Connect a compatible Bluetooth controller to the vehicle’s infotainment system using that vehicle’s Bluetooth pairing controls.
- Open the Xbox app from the internet-connected in-vehicle infotainment system.
- Sign in to the Xbox Game Pass account you plan to use.
- Choose an available cloud game and start streaming, subject to the vehicle’s internet connection and applicable safety restrictions.
That is the setup sequence Xbox gave in its September 9, 2025 announcement. The specific Bluetooth menu and app-launch steps may vary by vehicle.

Which games are included?
Xbox said Game Pass Ultimate members would be able to access hundreds of games through cloud gaming. The examples in the announcements include Gears of War: Reloaded, Forza Horizon 5, and The Outer Worlds 2; LG also named Doom: The Dark Ages. These are announcement examples, not a guaranteed or permanent in-car catalog.
Xbox also said Ultimate subscribers could stream select games they already own, citing Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, and Mafia: The Old Country as examples. Owned-game streaming applies to eligible titles, not automatically to every game in an account. Catalogs and eligibility can change.

Is it available for your car yet?
The September 9, 2025 Xbox and LG announcements described the service as coming to “select” vehicles “soon,” but did not provide a public launch date, country list, consumer pricing, or a complete compatibility list. They therefore do not establish whether a specific vehicle or market has access now. Check the vehicle maker’s current infotainment or connected-services information and Xbox’s current cloud-gaming availability details before relying on the feature.
LG said it aims to supply its webOS-based ACP to 20 million vehicles by 2030. That is LG’s target for supplying the platform, not a forecast or promise that 20 million vehicles will support Xbox Cloud Gaming. LG also described ACP as part of PlayWare within its LG AlphaWare software-defined-vehicle suite and said it is expanding ACP to commercial vehicles; neither point identifies additional Xbox-compatible models.

What the partnership does—and does not—mean
This is an OEM-integrated infotainment feature, not a general way to add Xbox Cloud Gaming to any connected car. A compatible phone, hotspot, or aftermarket screen by itself does not establish compatibility with LG’s automotive Xbox app. The announcements name no retrofit kit or supported consumer vehicle models, so buyers should confirm support for the exact vehicle rather than infer it from the presence of an internet connection or an LG-branded system.
