Event sensing on 24 lines
Twenty-four lines provide event sensing: selected input transitions can be detected and latched so host software can respond through an interrupt-oriented mechanism instead of repeatedly polling every point. The catalog establishes the 24-line event-sense capability; it does not specify every configuration detail in the product summary. The mechanism is useful in control systems that need to react to input changes without continuously checking all 48 lines.
Pico-I/O is a SUMIT stack, not PC/104
Pico-I/O describes the module’s form factor and host interface, not simply its channel count. WinSystems’ Pico-I/O specification defines a 60 mm × 72 mm board with SUMIT connectors, designed to stack on a compatible single-board computer (SBC). A host or carrier therefore needs the appropriate SUMIT interface and mechanical arrangement. A PC/104 board should not be assumed compatible simply because it can accept a digital I/O module or because another card offers 48 points.
How related 48-point modules compare
Current WinSystems products provide possible comparison points, but they use different interfaces and should not be treated as drop-in PCO-UIO48 replacements.

- I/O behavior: Check whether the candidate supports the required per-line input/output configuration, output readback, and event sensing. Verify which points support edge detection and how events are cleared or serviced.
- Electrical limits: Match signal levels and source/sink capability to the connected equipment. Do not infer that the PCO-UIO48’s TTL-compatible lines tolerate the voltage range stated for a different module.
