KB5058499 is a May 28, 2025 preview update for Windows 11 version 24H2 (OS build 26100.4202). It adds three practical Windows Share improvements and expands Click to Do text actions on qualifying Copilot+ PCs. Microsoft rolled the update out gradually, so an otherwise eligible PC might not have offered it immediately.
What KB5058499 changes
Microsoft classifies KB5058499 as a non-security preview update for every Windows 11 24H2 edition. Its release notes combine quality fixes with feature additions. The date remains May 28, 2025; a later note that Microsoft updated the second MSU file in the Catalog on May 26, 2026 is a page-maintenance change, not a new release date.
Because this was a preview release with gradual availability, Windows Update did not necessarily present it to every compatible device at the same time.
Windows Share gets three useful additions
Edit images before sharing
The Windows Share window can now handle last-minute image edits. Before sending an image, you can crop it, rotate it, or apply filters. Microsoft describes these controls as part of the Windows Share workflow; the notes do not require a paid service, accessory, or separate image editor.

Drag a local file to a sharing tray
Drag a file from File Explorer or the desktop toward the top of the screen. Windows displays a tray with suggested apps that can receive the file. Drop the file on a suggested app, or select More to open the full Windows Share window and choose another destination.
Add sharing apps to the local-file menu
Sharing-capable applications can be added directly to the right-click menu for local files in File Explorer or on the desktop. This provides a faster route than opening an app first and then browsing for the file. The exact apps offered depend on which installed applications advertise sharing support.

How Click to Do works after the update
Microsoft highlights enhanced text actions for AMD- and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs. In a supported context, press Windows key + mouse click or Windows key + Q to open Click to Do, then drag across the text you want to work with.

- Create a bulleted list from the selection.
- Refine the wording to sound more casual, formal, or polished.
These actions are not a universal capability of every Windows 11 computer. Microsoft specifically names compatible AMD- and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs for the enhanced text-action description. Device support, market, rollout stage, language, and character set can all affect what appears.
Language and regional availability
Microsoft says Click to Do preview became available in the European Economic Area. It also describes NPU-powered English text actions reaching more users there, with Spanish and French support for Summarize, Create a bulleted list, and Refine. Text actions are available across markets for select character sets, so language support should be treated as conditional rather than guaranteed by installing the update.

Use a compatible pen
On a PC with pen and inking capabilities, Microsoft documents options to configure a compatible pen shortcut to open Click to Do and to add Click to Do to the pen menu. Those controls will not appear on hardware without the required pen support.

How to look for KB5058499
- Open Settings.
- Go to Windows Update.
- Open the Optional updates available area when it is shown.
- Review the available preview update and install KB5058499 if you want the documented features.
- Restart when Windows requests it, then check Windows Share or Click to Do in a supported scenario.
If the update is not listed, that does not by itself indicate a problem. Microsoft used a gradual rollout, and availability could differ by device. Microsoft also lists Microsoft Update Catalog, Business deployment channels, and Windows Server Update Services for managed or offline administration. Those routes are better suited to IT-managed installations than to routine home use.

Do not confuse KB5058499 with later Windows 11 25H2 behavior
Microsoft’s Windows 11 version 25H2 update history later says that some features previously controlled by temporary enterprise feature controls in version 24H2, including Click to Do, are enabled by default in 25H2. That is later-version context, not a feature change made by KB5058499 itself. A PC running 25H2 can therefore behave differently from a 24H2 PC that received this preview update.
Known issues and support context
Blurry CJK text in Chromium browsers
The KB page lists a problem in which Chinese, Japanese, or Korean text can appear blurry or unclear at 96 DPI in Chromium-based browsers. This is a documented issue associated with the update page, not evidence that Windows Share or Click to Do is malfunctioning.
Microsoft Print to PDF in enterprise environments
Microsoft also documents a Microsoft Print to PDF issue affecting enterprise customers and IT administrators. The release information says KB5060829 addresses that issue.
Historical WUSA installation warning
The later 25H2 history describes a possible ERROR_BAD_PATHNAME failure when Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA) launches an .msu by double-clicking it or through a network share containing multiple MSU files. Microsoft ties that note to updates released from May 28, 2025 onward and documents conditions in which it does not occur, along with a later update that addresses it. Because this is later, version-dependent context, consult Microsoft’s current release-health information before changing an installation process.

- Windows Share image editing and the drag tray are separate from Click to Do’s AI-assisted text actions.
- Installing KB5058499 does not make every Windows 11 PC a Copilot+ PC.
- Missing Click to Do actions can reflect processor class, NPU and device support, language, character set, region, or staged rollout.
- Windows Share’s available destinations depend on applications installed on the computer.
The Bottom Line
KB5058499 brings the most immediately visible changes to Windows Share: image edits, a top-of-screen drag tray, and share-capable apps in local-file context menus. Click to Do improvements are more conditional, centered on supported Copilot+ hardware and constrained by language, market, device, and rollout status. Check Microsoft’s current Windows 11 release information because availability and later-version behavior can change.
