Windows 11 version 22H2 is no longer supported. Microsoft ended updates for Home and Pro-family editions on October 8, 2024, and for Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise on October 14, 2025. Both deadlines have passed. Check your edition, then move to a Windows release that Microsoft still supports.
When did Windows 11 22H2 support end?
The end date depended on the installed edition. Microsoft set separate deadlines for consumer and business/education editions:

Microsoft’s general servicing schedule is 24 months for Home and Pro-family editions and 36 months for Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise. The 22H2 dates above are the specific deadlines for those editions.
Is Windows 11 22H2 still supported?
No. After a Windows version reaches end of servicing, that version no longer receives further security updates from Microsoft for the affected edition. Microsoft says customers who contact support after the deadline will be directed to update to the latest Windows 11 version to remain supported. See Microsoft’s Windows lifecycle FAQ.

How to check your Windows edition and version
- Open Settings.
- Select System, then About.
- Look under Windows specifications for the edition and version. Use the edition to identify which 22H2 deadline applied; use the version to confirm whether the device is still on 22H2.
How to move to a supported Windows release
Try Windows Update first
Open Settings > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If a supported feature update is offered for the device, follow the prompts to install it. The available update can depend on device compatibility and deployment conditions; check Microsoft’s supported Windows 11 versions page to see which releases are currently in servicing.
Microsoft’s lifecycle FAQ advises: “Customers should always install the latest version before the current version reaches end of servicing to remain supported.”

Use installation media when needed
If you need to install or reinstall Windows, Microsoft documents creating installation media, including on a USB flash drive, in its Windows 11 download instructions. A USB drive is only a way to carry installation media; owning one does not update Windows or restore support. Windows Update or another supported update route may not require purchasing a drive.

What not to rely on
- Antivirus or cleanup software: these do not replace security updates for an unsupported Windows version.
- A USB drive by itself: support depends on installing a supported Windows release, not on having recovery or installation media.
- An assumed update offer: verify the device’s compatibility and the current supported-version information rather than assuming a particular upgrade will be offered.
