Jamison Battle missed a Toronto Raptors scrimmage on Thursday, October 1, because of a reported lower-back issue. He could be cleared for Toronto’s preseason game against Miami on Saturday, October 3, but his availability was not confirmed in the reports checked as of 3:51 p.m. UTC that day.
Why did Jamison Battle miss the Raptors scrimmage?
CBS Sports, in a report credited to RotoWire Staff, cited TSN reporter Josh Lewenberg for the update that Battle sat out the October 1 scrimmage with a lower-back injury. The report described the absence as apparently precautionary. That characterization was the report’s assessment, not a medical statement from the Raptors; no diagnosis, severity, or recovery timetable was established.
Will Battle play against Miami?
The October 1 report said Battle could be cleared to play in Toronto’s preseason opener against Miami. “Could be cleared” describes a possibility, not a confirmed status or a prediction that he would play. As of October 3 at 3:51 p.m. UTC, the sources checked had not confirmed whether he would be available.

What is known about Battle’s role?
NBA.com lists Battle as a Toronto forward. The CBS Sports/RotoWire report said he needed to impress during preseason to earn a rotation role. It did not report a confirmed decision about his place in the rotation. His NBA player profile provides his official player information.
