Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →A Stripe Payment Link collects payment and completes checkout; it does not deliver a digital product, create a shipping label, or run your order workflow. To fulfill reliably, connect checkout to your server with Stripe payment events, check the payment state, and then trigger the delivery or order action in your own system. A redirect can show customers what happens next, but it is not a fulfillment mechanism.
What happens after someone pays with a Payment Link?
A Payment Link is a shareable URL for Stripe’s hosted checkout page. After checkout, Stripe can show a hosted confirmation or redirect the customer to a URL you choose. Those are customer-facing completion steps, not instructions to send a file, grant access, or ship an order. Stripe’s Payment Link API reference describes the hosted payment page and session event tracking; the Payment Link object reference documents the completion behavior.
This distinction explains why a buyer may see a successful confirmation without receiving the product: Stripe has recorded checkout, but your application still needs to perform the delivery work.
Why a redirect alone cannot safely fulfill an order
A redirect depends on the customer’s browser returning to your site. The customer may close the tab, lose connectivity, or never reach the landing page even though payment succeeded. Stripe states: “Triggering fulfillment only from your Checkout landing page is unreliable.” Its fulfillment documentation recommends handling post-payment events on your server instead.

Use the redirect or hosted confirmation to explain what the customer should expect—for example, that an access email is on its way. Use a server-side payment event to initiate the actual business operation.
Connect the payment event to the right order
Your webhook handler needs enough information to identify the order and decide whether it is ready for fulfillment. Stripe copies Payment Link metadata to the Checkout Session, which can help map a session back to an internal order. Payment Links also expose settings for shipping-address collection, shipping options, and automatic tax. These supply checkout context; your application must still decide what to do with it. See the Payment Link API reference and Checkout Session object reference.

- Identify the order: associate the session with an internal order or product using metadata or another reliable mapping in your system.
- Check payment state: do not treat the existence of a session or a browser return as proof that the order is paid.
- Choose the downstream action: grant digital access, send a delivery email, record the sale, or start a physical-shipping workflow as appropriate for the product.
Use the Checkout Session payment status to decide when to fulfill
The Checkout Session API documents three payment_status values: paid, unpaid, and no_payment_required. Stripe says this field can be used to decide when to fulfill. Your application should interpret the state deliberately: fulfill paid orders when the relevant event and your business rules permit it; do not treat an unpaid session as paid. A no-payment-required session is a distinct state, not evidence of a charge, so decide whether it qualifies for the product or service you are providing. See Stripe’s Checkout Session API reference.
What the fulfillment code must do
The right implementation depends on your server framework, Stripe SDK version, and delivery system. At a minimum, the server-side flow should receive the relevant Stripe event, verify and interpret it, look up the associated order, check the session’s payment state, and trigger the correct fulfillment action. The action is yours to implement: Stripe’s documentation describes examples such as sending an order confirmation, logging the sale, or starting a shipping workflow; it does not make those actions happen merely because checkout completed. See Stripe’s fulfillment guide.

- Label maker for Shipping labels & small business labels
- supports multiple-size wide wireless printing
- Download "RONGTA" app for phone to bluetooth print
- Download computer driver for PC/Laptop to USB print
- Inkless Thermal Printing for Sharp Clarity
A short sample can demonstrate the event-to-action pattern, but a line count is not a guarantee of production readiness. Before deploying code, use Stripe’s current webhook guidance for your chosen runtime and SDK, including signature verification and safe handling of repeated event deliveries. The sources linked here establish the event-driven architecture and payment-state distinction, but do not specify a universal implementation for those safeguards.
