The Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, while its new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo are scheduled for 2027. Nintendo has not publicly explained why the figures are coming later. The timing is clear; the reason is not.
Why are the Ocarina of Time remake amiibo coming out after the game?
Nintendo’s September 8, 2026 announcement schedules the remake for November 5, 2026, and the two new amiibo for 2027. The announcement does not give a reason for the gap. That means there is no public explanation from Nintendo—not proof that the company has no internal rationale. Production, shipping, stock, or marketing explanations would be speculation.
Nintendo’s announcement also discusses other related products, including a physical edition with textured foil cover art for its first print run, available while supplies last, and playable ocarinas from HORI. Those are separate announcements and do not explain the amiibo schedule.
What do the Ocarina of Time remake amiibo unlock?
Nintendo says the Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo can unlock “special in-game masks that evoke a retro graphical style.” The announcement describes the unlock collectively for the pair; it does not establish different mask effects for each figure.

When will the Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo be available?
Nintendo has announced a 2027 release window for both figures. Its official amiibo lineup lists the Young Link and Young Zelda figures in the Ocarina of Time series with that year, but the listing gives no day or month. The announcement and lineup do not provide a preorder date or retailer list, so the figures should be treated as announced—not as confirmed available for preorder.

Nintendo already lists a Link (Ocarina of Time) 30th Anniversary amiibo, with a December 2, 2016 release date on its product page. That does not establish that it unlocks content in the remake. Nintendo warns that amiibo compatibility and functionality vary by game; the remake announcement does not confirm support for this older figure.
