Ravindra Jadeja said his celebration after dismissing Amir Jangoo in the second India–West Indies ODI was inspired by a dance step from an Emraan Hashmi song. He said the wicket came after a long wait and the move happened on instinct.
What inspired Jadeja’s celebration?
In comments attributed to Jadeja in a video posted by the BCCI, and quoted by Hindustan Times, he explained that he liked a step associated with Emraan Hashmi and tried it after taking the wicket:
“I’m a huge fan of Emraan Hashmi, so when his song came out, I liked that step. I got a wicket after a really long time. Whenever I feel like doing something different on that particular day, I try to do a different celebration,” Jadeja said.
“Luckily, I got the wicket. At that time, it came on my instinct, and I did that,” he added.

Circle of Cricket identified the song as “Afsana Banaya Aapne.” The reports connect the step to the film Gunmaaster G9, which they described as upcoming on October 2, 2026; that release status is time-sensitive.
Which wicket did he take?
Jadeja dismissed West Indies batter Amir Jangoo, who had scored a century. Jangoo cut a short ball outside off toward backward point, where Ruturaj Gaikwad took the catch. Jadeja followed the dismissal with the dance step.

The wicket came in the second ODI at Barsapara in Guwahati on September 30, 2026. Hindustan Times reported that Jadeja finished with two wickets for 65 runs in his 10 overs, also dismissing Alzarri Joseph.

West Indies made 405, with Jangoo, Shai Hope, and John Campbell scoring centuries. India chased the target with eight wickets and 45 balls remaining. Shubman Gill scored 223 not out, while Rohit Sharma made 101.

Jadeja’s phrase “after a really long time” was his own explanation for why the wicket felt worth celebrating. The reports do not establish a precise length for that interval.
