Opera’s Capture Full Screen command captures the visible viewport. A complete page requires an option such as Capture full page (where available) or Save page as PDF. If the page itself is incomplete, repair the display first, then capture again.
First identify what “full page” means
There are three different results that users often call a full-page screenshot:
- Viewport image: a picture of the portion currently visible on screen. Opera documents Capture Full Screen as this type of capture, also called the viewport.
- One tall image: the entire document from the top to the bottom in a single PNG, JPEG or WebP-style image. This is usually what people mean by a scrolling screenshot.
- Paginated document: a PDF containing the page from top to bottom, divided across printable pages.
Before troubleshooting, decide which result you need. A viewport image is correct for a dialog, chart or current screen. A tall image is better for visual review or a design handoff. A PDF is generally better for printing, archiving and text selection.

Opera Snapshot is built into the browser. You can open it with the camera icon or use the documented shortcuts:

The labels shown in Snapshot can vary by Opera version, operating system and product variant. Use the option that actually appears in your interface rather than relying on an older screenshot of the menu.
When “Capture Full Screen” is only the viewport
If the resulting image ends at the bottom edge of the browser window, check the command you chose. Opera’s help uses Capture Full Screen for the entire page currently visible on screen, not the complete document below the fold. Select Capture full page if your version offers it. If that control is absent, choose Save page as PDF for a top-to-bottom export.
How to capture an entire page in Opera
- Open the page and wait for its visible content to finish loading.
- Open Snapshot with the camera icon or the shortcut for your operating system.
- Inspect the available capture choices. Select Capture full page for a tall image, if listed.
- If you need a document rather than one image, open Opera’s print or page menu and choose Save page as PDF. Opera describes this as a full-page option from the top to the bottom.
- Open the saved result and check the bottom of the document, not just the file size or thumbnail. Confirm that headings, images, tables and footer content are present.
Long pages can contain lazy-loaded images, sticky headers, animations or content that appears only after scrolling. A capture can therefore differ from what you see after manually browsing the page. Scroll through the page once before capturing when missing sections depend on scrolling or interaction.
If the page itself is displaying incorrectly
Do not assume a missing section is a Snapshot defect. If text, images or layout are already wrong in the browser, Opera’s FAQ recommends these general display troubleshooting steps:

- Open the URL in a private window. This helps distinguish an extension, stored session or site-data problem from a general loading problem.
- Clear Opera’s cache and cookies, then reload the page and sign in again if necessary.
- Temporarily disable Opera’s VPN and test the page again. Network routing can affect a site’s response.
- Update Opera to the current version offered for your platform.
Retest after each change instead of applying everything at once. Opera documents these as ways to address pages that do not display correctly; it does not promise that each step repairs Snapshot itself.
When scrolling or selection capture stops
Anecdotal forum reports describe scrolling screenshot behavior stopping, but those reports do not establish a universal current Opera bug, a single cause or a confirmed fix. Treat the symptom as version- and environment-dependent.
Record the details before changing settings
- Opera product and exact version
- Windows, Linux or macOS
- The control used: camera icon, shortcut, visible-page capture or full-page capture
- The point where the image stops and whether the page itself continues to render normally
- Whether the failure occurs on one site or every site
Do not change experimental flags solely because an old forum post suggests it. Flags can be removed or renamed and may create new rendering problems. First try the documented PDF route or another supported browser workflow.

Choosing between a tall image, PDF and a browser fallback

Chrome DevTools fallback for a single tall image
- Open the same URL in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with F12 or Ctrl/Command + Option + I, depending on your platform.
- Turn on device mode using the device-toolbar icon.
- Open the device-toolbar menu and choose Capture a full size screenshot.
- Open the downloaded image and verify that the final section is present.
This produces a full-size screenshot through Chrome DevTools. It does not repair Opera’s Snapshot implementation, and the page may render differently in Chrome.

Cost, reliability and result checks
For occasional personal work, Opera’s built-in tools and PDF export avoid an additional service. For repeatable jobs, an API can make the URL, viewport, waiting conditions and output format explicit. Whichever method you use, retain the original URL, capture date and selected mode. Reopen the output, inspect the bottom, and look for blank sections caused by delayed content. A successful download alone does not prove that the entire document was captured.

Can I force every Opera version to create one tall image?
No documented universal setting guarantees that. The available controls depend on Opera version, platform and product variant; use the full-page option when shown, otherwise export a PDF or use a documented alternate workflow.
Is a forum-reported scrolling bug proof that Opera is broken for everyone?
No. A user report can describe a real experience without proving a current universal defect, cause or fix. Capture the version, platform and exact symptom before drawing that conclusion.
