Super Chat is unavailable when the creator, channel, individual stream, or viewer does not meet YouTube’s requirements. Start by checking whether it is missing on every stream, just one stream, or only for one viewer: each pattern points to a different cause.
First, identify where Super Chat is missing
- Every stream on the channel: Check creator eligibility, the supported-location list, YouTube’s commerce terms, and whether Supers are enabled in Studio.
- Only one stream: Check that video’s visibility, audience and age settings, fundraiser status, and live chat settings.
- Only for one viewer: Check whether they are watching on YouTube itself or using a supervised account.
This distinction matters because YouTube has separate requirements for the creator and channel, for each video, and for the viewer’s access.
If Super Chat is missing across the channel
Check creator eligibility
YouTube’s fan-funding requirements include being in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), being at least 18, being located where Supers are available, and accepting and complying with the applicable Commerce Product Module. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility guidance and YouTube Partner Program overview.
Access to one monetization feature does not guarantee access to every other feature. YouTube says individual monetization features can have additional criteria and may be unavailable because of local legal requirements or channel or video review. Check the YouTube monetization policies and feature requirements for the feature in question.

Check Studio and turn on Supers
- Open YouTube Studio and select Earn.
- Look for the Supers tab or card. YouTube says it appears when the channel has access.
- If available, review and accept the Commerce Product Module if prompted, then enable Super Chat. You can also manage the feature in the YouTube Studio mobile app.
If the Supers tab or card is absent, revisit the eligibility and location requirements rather than assuming that a different monetization feature grants access.
Verify the creator’s location
Super Chat and Super Stickers are available only to eligible creators in locations on YouTube’s current list. Check the official supported-locations list for the creator’s location; availability can change. A viewer’s country by itself does not establish whether the creator is eligible.

If Super Chat is missing on just one stream
A channel can have access to Supers while a particular video remains ineligible. YouTube lists these stream or video conditions as reasons Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable:
- The video is private or unlisted.
- The video is age-restricted.
- The video is marked Made for Kids.
- The video is a YouTube Giving fundraiser.
- Live chat or comments are turned off.
Check the affected video’s settings in YouTube Studio, along with its live chat controls. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance lists the stream-level restrictions.

If Super Chat is missing for one viewer
Open the stream on YouTube
If the viewer is watching through an embedded player on another site, ask them to open the stream directly on its YouTube watch page. YouTube says Live Chat is available on watch pages, not in embedded players, so the embedded view does not provide the usual live-chat surface where Super Chat appears. Check whether the account is supervised
A supervised account may not have access to Supers. If other viewers can see Super Chat on the same stream, check the affected viewer’s account and viewing context before concluding that the channel has lost eligibility. YouTube describes account limitations in its supervised experiences guidance.

Use this checklist to narrow it down
- Is it missing on every stream? Confirm YPP status, creator age and location eligibility, acceptance and compliance with the Commerce Product Module, and activation under YouTube Studio → Earn → Supers.
- Is it missing on one stream? Check that video’s visibility, age restriction, Made for Kids setting, fundraiser status, and whether live chat or comments are enabled.
- Is it missing for one viewer? Have them use the YouTube watch page and check whether the account is supervised.
- Still not sure? Compare the same viewer’s experience on another eligible stream, or ask another viewer to check the affected stream. The pattern can help distinguish a channel-wide issue from a video restriction or viewer-specific limitation.
